I ate cake!

A lot of it.  And as I am typing this, a news report is coming through that police were set up for an assassination and 3 are dead, more are injured.  This will be brief but lots of photos.
This is what I made this morning with many more to come.

For those of you that would like to make the sponge cake, here are the pages from mom's booklet.  Her addition of the chocolate shavings are added at the bottom corner.  The Mahogany is wonderful too, never tried the Maple Pecan on the other page.  These cakes are not the moist soft box or bakery cakes.  You can click on the photo and then click again to enlarge, print if you'd like.

I have more photos but sadness has turned to anger and I am done here.

oh Marly I can't agree more...I have so many friends who are police or married to them...they are just people doing a hard job...some are wonderful, some are idiots...like the rest of us...none deserve what's going on now...I know I'm preaching to the choir here...such a hard reality to live with...

I used to work in a bakery that made orange chiffon cakes...they flew out the door! now I regret I never tried one...I was more of an angel food cake girl...

hugs

There is so much evil manifesting itself throughout the world. It is truly scary and I fear for my sons' and grandson's generations. How can this madness be stopped?
Great strawberry ~ love the cap. How long is it?
Hugs :)

Thanks for posting the recipes. Love the strawberrys - velvet? Like you I feel some anger trying to beat down my sadness but I wonder if I'm not just so deep in grief over our country's decline that I don't know what I'm feeling. blessings, marlene

I LOVE the strawberry and the pages from your special recipes - thanks again for sharing. I am also concerned about the chaos right now and what we are leaving our children and grandchildren. My approach continues to be a smile for everyone I pass and helping those I can who are less fortunate than I am. It's such a small thing to do but I'm hoping that if many of us do small deeds, it will take over the sadness happening all around us. Hugs to you - your posts bring me smiles and joy!

Thank you so much for the recipe Marly.
Even with all the bad happening right now, your generous sharing continues in spite of your anger and I think that's what we need to do.
Annmarie I like your smile campaign!
