Call me crazy

Go ahead.  It's OK.  When it comes to color, I have a real problem.  This Gunmetal is perfect for a night sky, but it is bugging the crap out of me.  I see a purplish cast and I hate reddish blues.  We all see color differently and it may be a perfect dark blue to others.  I mixed the dye until I got the right greenish brown and after a quick dip, the difference is subtle, the purplish cast is toned down, not as harsh.  On the right is my dip after drying, and the left is the original.  You may not even see the change.  I could do another dip but why push it?  I like the color, just wanted to warm and tone a little.

If my ankle wasn't killing me, I would do a happy dance.  But the way I've been flashing tonight, give me a few minutes.  I may change my mind.

EDIT - I did.  So I dipped again!  A little more toning and it's perfect.  It's a beautiful midnight blue sky now.  Whew.  I may order another piece now that I know I can adjust it.  But then again, who knows if it will come in the same shade?

Marly -- you were right on the 1st dip -- definitely toned down (almost obliterated) the purplish cast. After the 2nd dip -- GORGEOUS!!

WOW ! Just the right touch makes all the difference. Sorry about your not being able to do the "happy dance".
Your Santa will be happy on that color !

If you think you have trouble seeing colors..... I am looking at your linen and I don't see blue at all...I don't see gunmetal gray, I see dirty pinkish hue. But what I see, I like...

Have a great Sunday. Hope your sister is doing ok.

So sorry the ankle is paining you again and I feel your pain, my thumb just doesn't seem to be getting any better. This aging thing isn't all it's cracked up to be. Hope Carole is feeling better now after her mussel encounter.

Love the 2nd dipping even more and it's sheer perfection now so can't wait to see santa all stitched up on it.

I like both the 1st and 2nd dippings, but really like the 2nd one. And on my monitor, the original (looks like grape juice here) doesn't look anything like the picture (it was definitely the gunmetal color) you sent me via email. Hope your ankle lets up and you enjoy your day.

The dying was a great idea; the original color was way too purple to do anything with. What were they thinking?!!!

I *like* the way it came out after the second dip. Agree that the original was too purple - Halloween stitch, perhaps, but this is for that great Santa, right? It will look fantastic!

I'm sure the color is all wrong on my monitor. Looks purplish to me and I'm sure it's not.
Hugs :)

oooo love the colour change ... the original one was a wee bit too purple for a night sky unless sort of halloweenee type of design stitched on it ...

Looking good! I'd be afraid to do all that dyeing you do.

I wish I was that good at dying of course if I did it more often maybe I would feel a bit better about it.

Marly: Love the color, I am not brave enough to dye anything but white fabric.
I hope you ankle gets better.

I think all the versions are gorgeous! I envy you for being so certain of what you want and adventurous enough to experiment until you get it!

Great job with the old dye pot! I think the color turned out great and will be gorgeous wit your Santa. Sorry the ankle still bother and I can absolutely relate to the flashes. WTF? It's just not fair. They make me ridiculously sweaty and miserable somethings. Grrrrrr.....

Until you dipped it again, all I see is purple-y coloring... NOT gunmetal... unless it is a purple gun! You will like the new color... more you!!
