Hiya folks. It's September isn't it. You have no idea how crabby I am.
In fact, for the last batch of peppers we canned yesterday, I refused to put that month on the lid, chose to stay in August. Mark took my pen and did the last three properly but what's proper for him isn't proper for me.
Does anyone end up sideways when intently stitching? I find myself leaning so far left I am almost lying on the sofa. The more I struggle to see an error or the longer I sit and stitch, my body tilts to a 45. Weird. Get up! So here's where I am on the sampler, and when I manipulated the photo to place red where the ABC will go, I think it's the right choice. The bottom bird will be red also and I wanted it on the left to balance because I am, well.... you know. That word we don't like to use.

Having two brights on one side and two lights on the other didn't appeal to my idiocy either. The dark brown was the color I planned to stitch originally and seeing it in this photo, there would have been more frogging. Using this photo trick is a great help to me.
This is Threadwork Primitives' Worke #4
Ohio Treasure Sampler.
I should have a piece of this linen left, enough for a small Santa, but I will also try to recreate the color. Unless I use the same linen to start with, it doesn't dye the same so I don't make notes of the formula. Most dyebaths are kept in jars in the basement and I stick a piece of fabric in and shake, easier than starting another mess.
The flowers are drying and fading, the boys are sticking around more, the evening light is shorter. How did it fly by so quickly? My procrastination notebook I vowed to follow (and have not been able to find since I created it) has not had one project checked off and summer has passed.
My ferns are enormous and have created a cozy area. When they are gone, it will take a while to get used to the openness.
The brats are all medicated and hopefully flea free. Next is the worm pill for the two killers, Missy and Nit. My brother came over to give the pill the last time, and he had not one scratch. These cats run from people so it was amazing to watch. He is feeding another groundhog family, by hand, and the neighbor calls him Noah on land. She hates animals of any type and has traps everywhere. When your backyard adjoins a very large wooded area, you see critters. Go live in a field.

The sampler looks so great! Love those birds. And your ferns.
I definitely shift when I am intent on stitching... my rear gets sore!! :( The sampler is going to make you smile, once you finish it. Love your cozy place... looks inviting! Hugs!
I bet left handed people lean right.....let's take a survey.
Your peppers look so wonderful..and I agree where did this Summer go?? My list has not been completed LOL.....your ferns are gorgeous this was the first time I tried having one on our new porch really enjoyed it. Happy Labor Day to you...
Hi Marly,
Just love your sampler! The peppers will be so nice in the upcoming months! Your ferns are just gorgeous and sure wish I had a green thumb! Your last photo is just amazing and would make a wonderful card for kitty lovers!!!
Enjoy the holiday!
Heart Hugs~

Your ferns are huge and lush--what a nice place to kind of hole up from the rest of the world in those great swings, Marly! Love your progress on your sampler and how you determine what colors to use--I do like the red!
I feel the same way about summer's end. It feels like it just started and I had all these great plans, very few of which came to fruition. Is it because we are getting o-l-d?? Blech!
Enjoy your Labor Day--hope it is relaxing for you :)
I definitely lean. But am left handed - my light's on the right and I lean to the right ... also tend to crane my neck forward when really focused or stitching over one (ouch!). All those bright birds at the bottom - now I understand why you frogged the orange letters. What a great sampler.
Your outdoor hideaway with its fern walls looks like such a relaxing, peaceful place - just lovely.
your ferns are glorious, Marly!! Must be a great year for them because mine have been looking good too! Now....what is wrong with September, missy??????? It just happens to be my favorite month..besides December...I know...December is a dirty word....but I love the cooler temps..although it's still in the 80's up in Michigan. The peppers look delicious!!!
I lean too...but I keep leaning forward and more forward until I almost fall out of my chair!
Your sampler is lovely....Have a nice September day...LOL!!
Glad you got your peppers done. Love the sampler.
Your ferns are so big and lush! I love greenery!
I can't believe this year has flown by so fast--I am ready for cooler weather, however.
The kitties look sweet! Last photo does look very professional!!
Love your ferns. Wish I had a bit more shade. I'm afraid the only place I could hang one would be in a dogwood tree...how weird would that look? Enjoy every moment of beautiful September and October...winter will be here soon enough.
I love this time of year enough for 10 people...having Windows open day and night...was just wondering why I didn't take more vacation days this month...the cats look some comfy out there...
The sampler looks great and as much as I'm ready for cooler weather I'll agree the summer flew by. I had such big plans of days and evenings spent stitching on the porch but instead I've stayed in the air conditioned house complaining about the heat. Oh well maybe fall will bring me more stitching time.
Love the ferns !!!#
I must agree with Dirty Martini Queen! Way too hot for me to enjoy these summer days, and I spent more time inside than out. I was able to stitch out on my porch today, which made me very happy! Your sampler is just wonderful! Love your choice of colors. The ferns are lovely... I have some very realistic fake ones on my porches, but perhaps I'll try real ones next year!
Oh.... I must add that I am a lefty, my light is to the right, and I lean to the right and forward way more than I should while stitching!!
I'm left-handed and lean to the right too. That is where the light source is when i'm stitching in the living room and the tv is on. I stitch 'in hand' and have found that placing a cushion (pillow) on my lap helps to lift my stitching nearer my eyes and relieves some of the strain on the back of my neck.
I don't lean to the right nor the left...........just adjust myself in the chair every once in a while.
Your sampler is wonderful. Will look forward to your Santa. The last one I did was the PS Noah's Ark one. He's nice.
We have had a sprinkling of rain so most of my flowers are drying up.........unless I get out the hose and water........which we have to pay for. Your ferns and petunias are beautiful. Such a pretty area to have your swings.
Those kitties of yours really have a good life. Your brother sounds like a wonderful person.
Have a lovely Labor Day. I love Fall weather........I look forward to it all year. Don't like the hot, sticky, blech weather of summer. I've heard that this has been the third hottest summer on record.........not good.

I like your choice of the red letters. What a cool tool to be able to project the choices and see how they will look finished! (And I love your outdoor area- so inviting!)
LOVE your sampler!
My ferns are still doing well. Thanks again for telling us Lowe's had them at such a great price.
Happy Labor Day.
Hugs :)
