A tisket a tasket

a big ass basket.  Meander Hill in Youngstown, big flat door basket.  They don't lay perfectly flat and are all a little wonky but I soaked it in water and shaped it.  I like BIG on the doors, not a wimpy wreath.  Still not the one I am looking for which I thought I spotted on Pine Cone Gift Shop's FB post, but I have messaged them for info twice in the past, and never receive an answer.  For now, this will do.  But how do I keep it from scratching the dark paint and leaving those ugly marks?  Usually a piece of felt, of which I have none, so I used a piece of old sweatshirt fleece that is tucked inside and hanging over the back of the basket.  Soft and scratch free.  The high strength magnet can't hold it to the metal door because of the heavy weave.

And this brat sat there for almost an hour, as if he knew how handsome he looked against the bright leaves.

Missy seems to be somewhat improved and so far, no blood has been dripping while administering the liquid antibiotics.

And in the mail today, dried oranges for my little tree from Monahan Papers Etsy site here.  Could I make them?  I have.  Do I want to?  No.  Why bother when you get perfectly dried and beautifully colored online?  Simplify.

Do you remember the in-store incidents I've had in the past?  Walking into mannequins, mirrored columns, falling in the dressing room?  Here's another tip for you to avoid these unfortunate and embarrassing mishaps.  Always have your purse strap on your arm or shoulder.  Never hold the purse itself and allow the strap to hang loose at your side, unless you are in a wide open aisle with no center displays sporting large hooks holding small items.

Have a good weekend!

The door basket is perfect!
Sounds like you are learning by experience. I can relate.
Happy Friday. I love being retired. Every day can be Friday if I so choose :)

I have cut wine corks in half long ways and hot glued them to things I hang on my door to stop the stratching. They aren't noticeable either. Nice basket. May have to take a ride to Youngstown soon. Maybe the Christmas open house.

I, too, love the basket! You gals are so much smarter than me when it comes to how to prevent the door from being scratched. I usually just hang things and hope for the best.
The oranges are great, too! I bought some in Gettysburg a few years back when I saw a tree there decorated with them....fabulous!
Have a great weekend!

Great basket. I had one almost as big. I hung fake pink and white daisies in it every spring. Sold that in the Big Rummage before the move. I love cloved oranges. Glad Missy is improving.

He does look quite handsome against the fall colors. He'd be against deep white here. I hate winter more every year. Love the basket and the sweatshirt fabric is brilliant. I make those oranges from time to time and they look and smell wonderful. You have the perfect house for them.

That IS a huge basket! We have a screen door, so wimpy little wreaths have to do! WHEN I remember! I may this year, since you mentioned them! Looking forward to seeing more... Hugs!

That is a wonderful basket, I am now going to be hunting for one. I use to put felt behind wreaths and the like but gave up. Who cares I always hang something else up anyway. My front door is very dark eggplant color, when I stop hanging things up "he" will just have to repaint it. Luckily it has panels and just one panel will need it. He is retired... everyone needs to keep busy!

I love those oranges and have added them to my Etsy cart. I didn't know that I could buy them somewhere. I too have made them at one time, but I don't have the time to do so this year. Thanks for the link. I love how your basket looks. I like the fabric idea to keep from scratching the door.

Lovely basket for your door. Catching up here. Glad to hear your kidney function is up and the little kitty seems better. Good on you for managing to dose her. My Mia would be impossible to dose. Ask me how I know. lol!

Hi Marly, Your Fall decorations and photos are beautiful. Thank you for sharing them. I especially love your large basket with contents on your door with your paint color. It is quite stunning. Your yard is gorgeous. The kitty photo is sweet. Budman is quite handsome. Looks like he is fit to brave the winter season. Sending wishes that you continue to feel better and little Missy too. Take care. SAH

I really really like your door basket. I got one from Everyday Occasions that I like. It is not as well made as I would like but I like the conical shape. Can you share with me your door paint color? I like it a lot. God bless you simple and non-threatening outcome and peace from focusing on God. I went through the same thing and had so much anxiety. I repeated this verse all the time: Isaiah 26:3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. I changed it to suit me and would repeat and repeat it and walk and walk to stay busy. Thank you for your time.
