Well, two ponies. Found in my pile of finishing projects, once on a box, once on a book, now as a pouch. Lining is a tan and blue stripe if I ever make it that far.
After sewing back to front, I pictured the finish differently. Instead of the wool back and straps,
I thought maybe a wooden back stained or painted very dark may be better,
but I really like the idea of a thick distressed dark leather as the back. Maybe not this high. I like this shape best and a few pink berries can hang from the nail. So far, my favorite.
Options courtesy of Paint program! I don't know if my piece of leather would be large enough, and keeping it flat may be a problem. Hey! Cover the wood with a thin brown leather?
What say you?
I'm asking because depending on my mood, it may be offered for sale.

Oh Marly, I've been locked out of blogger since Jan but what a delight to finally get back in and see this post. I love the leather backing and of course, your stitching is exquisite as usual.

Marly: I love this design and the bag is fabulous.
The brown lining is perfect.

I vote for the second picture but less of the leather showing. It will be fabulous no matter what you do!
I like the bottom shape and the idea of wood covered in leather would be fabulous!

Love the ponies!
Love that second picture, but honestly, they all look great. Love, love those ponies...Adorable!
Like the last version. Just love that
pony design...
I still love this stitching, you did an amazing job. Covering a piece of wood in leather would be the best idea I think.
Love these pony's there colors are beautiful.
The second option is my favorite but why sell all your stitching -you can change your display of embroidery so now and than.
That ' s the way I do with my stuff.
Have a great day

I will never tire of these wonderful creatures. I like the last best or it could be the front of a pouch for storing a needlework project. I so enjoy carrying my projects in a needlework pouch that is also beautiful. You've given me an idea......
thanks for your blog!!!!
I vote for the last one as my favorite but all would do! Beautiful stuff; you are very talented! ~karlanan
No matter which one you choose, it is beautiful!
I trust your instinct for what's best. Whatever you do, the horses will be gorgeous!
Beautiful piece Marly. Is that design from Kathy Barrick? I think I just spotted that chart in my stash!! Or at least something very, very similar.
LOL I read the title of this post and thought you really did find a pony. My neighbors did a few years ago. This pony wandered into their pasture and although they tried to find the owners, no one came forward so he found a new home! At any rate, I love the idea of the leather over wood. Your work is absolutely beautiful.
Ahhh hah! I actually remember you stitchng these fun ponies!!! I will never forget their wonderful eyes! I don’t recall seeing your finish of them on the box or the book (must have been when I went AWOL), but I am liking the idea of a pouch finish. My vote is for the last image, but yes, a bit smaller....and probably thinner leather over wood would be most feasible. Yeah...some pink dried or berries would make a simply stunning finishing filler! Happy April ~ Robin
I am so sorry for this distress. I just feel terrible ... I wish you the best, even if it does take 6 months. Very best wishes to you. XO Gail Berry / Highland UT
