I've decided to paint the hinges on the new cupboards, just too much for me, especially if I start decorating the walls. I erased them in the photo to get an idea of the look before I actually start. As simple as the Paint program is, it sure comes in handy. Whether making changes to the photo from a chart cover before I stitch, or changes to furniture or rooms, a great way to see ideas before executing them.
I had some touch up to do on the ceiling and even though I stored the quart can upside down, the rim still had rust. So I decided to try something else. I store several glass and plastic containers for left overs in stain and paint. I don't trust the plastic to keep it really airtight, so I lined it with an ordinary storage bag held on by a rubber band, and poured the quart in. I use the cheap spatulas for removing all the paint from the can before recycling and then tied the bag. This should keep it fresh, no rusty lids, stored in a dark closet. If I no longer need it, I can add some HDX Waste Paint Hardener to the bag, smush it around, and it's ready for disposal. My container stays clean and ready for the next left over.
See? Minutia. I do love that word. Unfortunately, it's all I have right now. When sorting all that linen, it steered my brain to stitching one of the large samplers. No way. I'm not seeing the specialist for my eyes for two weeks and the constant application of drops makes the blurriness much worse. Maybe just 15 minutes at a time between drops? I kept the large pieces of linen and I can pull the floss, just in case. For the size of these girls, I think a frame would be better but I gave them all away. For just a small section at a time, my little sit on hoop may be the ticket. Usually I roll and clip but I need to get a feel for the size first, and I would be wise to start the smallest of the group. Wise usually doesn't win though.
Have a great day!!
Thanks for visiting my minutia chronicles.

How clever of you to store the paint in the container.
I'm sorry to hear about your eye problems -cannot you stop with those eye drops?
Big hug

Sorry to hear about your ongoing eye problem. Hoping the doc can find a way to help you. As to the cabinet hinges … I really like them painted. Left black, it's kind of distracting, especially if you are going to have a lot of other details in the room. I so wish I had an old house to fiddle with. There's just absolutely no character in a manufactured home unless you can afford to pay someone to build the nooks and crannies that one finds in the older houses. I love seeing what you are doing with your gem of a house.
Ha ha....I happen to love that word too....and it is so how my mind works. I really rarely see the forest....I’m all about the trees. I like the hinges both way, but the more times I look, the more I am liking them painted. Do you mind sharing which paint program it is you use? (I am sure you probably have in the past during my wayward absence, but can you indulge me with a repetition please??). Clever idea for the paint storage...I wish I had done something like that prior to WWR. I don’t even want to know what those cans are like now. And I am in awe of the sizes you are speaking of for your samplers....Yikes. The biggest thing I ever did was a Christmas sampler...and it took (me) so long to do that that I didn’t even know what decade to put on for the date. I do hope your eyes get back to where you can stitch what and when you want...whether they are the big girls or not... Robin
I like the way the cabinet looks without the hinges being black. I think Marilee has the right of it - being black, they make the view just a touch too busy and would end up detracting from the overall picture. Or perhaps I'm just a touch prejudiced since I'm trying to figure out an equivalent change in one of our bathrooms.
Hi Marly: I like the hinges painted, having the black handles makes the cabinets look a lot classier.
I was going to get rid of a bunch of fabric but decided not too due to some comments in the past from other bloggers saying they regretted doing so.
I have done a few large Samplers and am ready for another very soon.

I like the hinges painted. The black is just too stark to my liking.
Even though you say it is simple, I have no idea how to use a paint program.
Hopefully you will get some relief after your doctor visit.
The paint on the hinges looks good! My eyes are giving me trouble too, usually they are fioe till evening then they get scratchy and tired.
I am so sorry about the problem with your eyes. Please know that I will be thinking of you often during the next two weeks until you see the doctor. From all the comments, I’m not the only one. Well, I’ll be the odd one out. I like the hinges black best but it looks nice white too.
I like the new look of your cabinets. Not so much conflict if and when you decorate your walls.
So sorry your eyes are causing you "grief". I hope the problem can be fixed very soon.
Thinking of you !

Handy little program! I thought the painted hinges looked wonderful....until you whited them out in the pic and now I see it makes the whole area look more relaxed! Nice!
You are so clever using Paint to help you figure out decorating challenges, Marly! I love the one on the right without the black hinges. Will have to see if I can use your trick in some of the things I've been questioning around our house.
I hope these days before the eye doctor visit pass quickly for you!
