For now

I've decided to take a break.  I can't even read your blogs.  I can't stitch.  I can't sew.  I can't drive.  I was to take Carole to Walmart today and Mark had to drive.  Once in the store, I couldn't keep my eyes open from the florescent lighting and dryness, even with continual drops.  As much as I look at this as easier to accept than other diagnoses, I am really getting down to the point of crying jags.  Haven't had those since the menowars of a few years ago.  And they hurt because not one single tear is produced.  Not one.  If the Restasis helps, and that's a big if, it will be about six months before I notice a difference.  I have no idea why it takes that long.  But right now, I am having too much difficulty with reading, even with new glasses.  My eyes have worsened this past week.  So rather than struggling to type, read, and post, I've decided not to until there is some improvement, which I was told not to expect.  But who knows?

Thanks for being my friends and connection to the stitching world.  I sure hope to be back at some point!  Until then, take care of yourselves.  Love you all.

For every tear you can’t cry, I am crying two. Do you know how much we will miss you my friend? The magnanimous me wants to say “I understand”.... and on some level I really truly do (hell, I disappeared and had no excuse, let alone a good reason), but the selfish part of me is throwing a tantrum. Please do what you need to do...know we will be here when you come back...and until then, will be holding you close in thought and prayer. HUGS ~ Robin

I also am very sorry that you are having to cope with this, Marly. I have enjoyed your blog for years even though I don’t believe I have ever commented before this, and I will miss you and will be praying for you.

I just feel compelled to share with you my unexpected experience with an osteopath as it may help you too. I went to the osteopath because of terrible daily migraines. He spent a few months working on me and did not get rid of my headaches. (A chiropractor finally did though.) The osteopath was trying to get all my tiny bones at the base of my skull to unlock and move freely. Coincidentally, I had been taking restasis because of a diagnosis of dry eye, at the same time. And after a period of the osteopathic treatments, I started to notice the little night crusts of tears appearing in the corners of my eyes again, after many years of not having them. With my PCP’s agreement that I didn’t need it anymore, I went off the Restasis and am still regularly getting the little night crusts of tears, many years after my treatments ended. All the tiny bones at the base of the skull still seem to be moving freely too. I can hear them when I turn my head.

I trust that my recounting this may give you some much needed hope, and possibly some much needed relief as well.

You have always been grander than anything life has hurled your way.... this will prove no different... You are up to it, Marly… keep defiant...we are with you....

This is such sad news. I can't imagine how devastating it is to not be able to do the things you love, or to endure the discomfort. I don't know if it will help, but my ophthalmologist told me to take Vitamins E and fish oil tablets for my dry eye problem. Mine is nothing like yours, I know, but perhaps that might help at least little bit. He is an internationally recognized ophthalmologist for some of the treatments he's developed so maybe it would be worth it for you to try them. Hang in there, Marley.

I am so sorry you are going through so much. You have every reason to cry, and I hate that it doesn't even help. I'm praying for a miracle for you. I had major foot surgery 9 weeks ago, and though it's getting better, I get down too, just because I see all my friends doing the things we used to do together and I can't join in--no playing Pickleball. But reading your post makes me realize I don't have it so bad after all. I so wish something would turn your condition around for you. You are such a neat lady and you deserved so much. Love and hugs.

I can only add my prayers to everyone else's and hope that you are able to find some relief, Marly. I would be crying, too--yes, there are worse conditions and diseases, but this is something that came on you so suddenly with such vengeance that it will take time to fully absorb. You have every right to cry and so many of us are crying right along with you. You are such a wonderful member of this stitching community and I hope you know how beloved you are. Take care and, again, if I can help out at all down here in the "big city," please don't hesitate to ask. ♥

Oh, Marly.... Everyone has already said the soothing words I'd like to use (and most of them better than I would). If only the friendship, caring and empathy we stitchers feel for each other could somehow relieve your symptoms! Dear Marly;
I will miss your current blogging but I will use your break to re-read your older blogs.

Meanwhile, be kind to your eyes & body, breathe deeply and enjoy the spring.

I've learned so much from you... especially your willingness to try a design your way. You have freed me from worrying about messing up and making a mistake. At 63 I enjoy needlework and decorating more than ever because I can try new things and play with new ideas.

I'll be thinking of you!
