I bought a sampler chart

for the first time since ….. ???  I think the last one I purchased was Merry Wind Farm's Ellen Ford.  Maybe there was another but I can't recall.

I have wanted Ann Hicks 1820 for years and never snagged it on eBay.  Today I saw it on Pinterest and decided to try again.  I searched all the engines, usually if the subject of the search is on Ebay or Etsy it is shown in the results.  Nothing.  Nada.  Zippo.  But I visited eBay anyway to request notification if it becomes an offer.  Bingo.  There it was!!  But failed to show in my searches!  So I jumped on it and now am the proud owner of SANQ Winter 2004 Vol 37 with Ann Hicks.  This chart was not two-part was it?  I've seen finishes of Ann and did not like them because of the light linen and if I ever stitch it will try to use something darker, similar to the photo.  I have never liked stitching from a magazine, does that bother you?

Whether I stitch her or not doesn't matter right now.  I have her.  Have wanted her.  And with some of our charts, isn't that what really matters???  LOL!!  I can't explain it either!

It's kind of like quilting, quilting and collecting fabric are two different hobbies!! Enjoy your new chart either by looking at it or stitching it!!

I looked in my back issues, Ann Hicks is all in this issue, pages 25-34. I miss that magazine, even though I've never yet stitched anything from it.

I get it. I was just looking at my STASH of charts/designs that were my favorite - HAD TO HAVE ....until another came along and became my "I'm doing this one next" needlework. I agree that having it and looking at it every now and then is fun and exciting. I hope you get to do a sampler soon. I joined the Facebook SAL of Jane Bannister 1855 and am LOVING it. Take care and be well Marly

Brava! What an incentive to get back to stitching. Hope you are coming along well
and your condition is improving. I think I have most issues of that magazine scattered about...so sad when they ended. That particular sampler is special...you
have such a keen eye, Marly.

So happy. It's the journey, not the destination 🤣🤣🤣

Enabler Alert. Did you know you can get the complete collection of Sampler and Antique Needlework on a DVD from 123st? It's
$47 I think. It's out of stock as I type this but pretty sure they will get more copies and you may be able to get it other places. You get the DVD and you download on your computer and you can print out pages.

That looks like a very nice sampler. I usually always make a copy of any chart I am working. I usually inlarge it so I can see it better. I have old eyes. LOL. It helps when I start to stitch to have the area I am working on folded and clipped to my hoop so I can see it better.

Nice find

I feel the same way, Marly--sometimes you just HAVE to have a certain chart even if you might not end up stitching it. I get such pleasure from just leafing through my charts at times even though I know I'll never ever live long enough to stitch even a third of them :) This is a beauty and I'm so glad you found it!

Ooooo, love this one. And, yeah....I understand it even if you (nor I) may be able to explain it. Tell me why I just bought a huge hank of ORANGE linen (yes, you read that correctly, ORANGE!). WTH was I thinking?? At least your chart will be amazing to look at....orange linen, not so much LOL. We are greening up here a bit....although not out of the woods yet freeze-wise....so no flowers yet...and sadly, no humming birds yet. This is the latest they have ever been. :-(. Robin
