Mark has been doing most of the shopping because he is concerned about me being exposed. I will go for the ride sometimes, with my Clorox wipes and hand sanitizer, cleaning everything that comes into the car. Woke up early this morning, couldn't swallow, coughing, headache. I will wait a day or two (recommended) to see if I worsen before testing, and I am already coughing less as I drink my Chai tea. I am assuming a cold/flu. But after being so careful, how??? And here's the real worry .... Mark took food and money to Carole last night that I packaged. She certainly doesn't need my germs. I haven't seen her in person for weeks.
I have a new project chosen but I'm browsing stash anyway. Guess what I found. Samplers. And Santas. Not much else! I considered ordering the latest outstanding Blackbird book, there are two that I love in there, but wouldn't stitch the others. Then I browsed Stitching Bits and Bobs selection of Ewe&Eye&Friends adorable designs, especially those with houses. I love how they incorporate easy specialty stitches but many have over one alphabets. Any can be modified easily, I may choose a few from the Small Sampler series. But for now, this is what's next.

Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Day?
I would like to see Floss Tubers do a presentation on linens. The texture, feel, heaviness, tight/loose weave, consistency, and most importantly - SHADES of the various types and brands. From a group of lights, which lean toward a green, pink, gray, yellow cast? Compared to raw/unbleached, how dark are some of these? Linen isn't cheap and many of us purchase pieces that come to our homes with an odd cast that isn't the best for our projects. I know the computer screens (I like to transfer videos to the TV) and other viewing options aren't accurate, but showing the fabrics together gives some idea of their difference plus the opinion of the presenter would be a real help. Is it just me and my color phobia or do many of you have the same problem?
What?
It's just me?
That hurts. But not unexpected.

Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Day?
Calls for Winter's Brew from R&R. ???? No idea so I will choose something from stash. Probably 35 count, after Ann I am anxious to use one thread. We'll see if with the Dazor's help and my glasses, I can handle that count. Right now it's hard to keep my eyes open and I may just nap most of the day.

Stay safe folks. Doesn't look like things will change any time soon.
I am certainly not leaving the house now, unless my doc suggests testing.
I'm not concerned. With all the crabby in this crabass, it wouldn't stand a chance.
Be well!

I LOVE your next choice of projects to stitch, hope you are feeling better soon. Enjoy that tea!
Heartstring samplery's webpage has a freebie to download of a basket of fruit that could be made into a cushion or ornament. Hope you feel better. Adele
It's not just you. I have several pieces of linen that look nothing like the on screen color.
FYI ... You might want to call Stitching Bits and Bobs to verify that they actually have the chart you want. I placed an online order and waited for months to no avail. I tried contacting them by phone and e-mail, also to no avail.
Lots of colds going around right now too. fingers and toes crossed that yours is only that......
Sure hope it is "just" a cold, Marly. My husband still isn't over the cold he contracted on his flight to Florida on March 5th! My brother (a doctor)said there is a small chance that he actually could have a mild case of Covid-19 :( I'm fine--no symptoms of anything so I'm hoping and praying it is just a sinus infection that is really taking its time going away.
Lovely next project. I love the Ewe & Eye samplers, too--have done a couple and still not framed them, though. Take care now--rest and take it easy ♥
I do hope it's just a cold. I haven't been out of the house for a week except to do some gardening and just now a quick walk. Moved into the street when we had to pass anyone. I need to go to my daughter's house tomorrow, but will try to make it quick.
I don't know if this will help, but 123Stitch has approximate DMC equivalents listed for at least some of their fabrics. Even on my Apple devices, which display colors fairly accurately, don't always register true. I always blame the photography on the website; cameras have their limitations, too.
Keep us posted Marly, I hope you will feel much better very soon. I know exactly what you mean. After listening to many flosstubers talk about vintage examplar, I ordered a fairly big piece for a big project. Well, it came with such overtones of pink, I couldn't use it. I usually just want a basic tan with no pink, green, or any other color! When you have no LNS it presents problems and I'm too cowardly to dye my own!! That might have to change!
My goodness, I do hope you will be feeling improved soon and that it is "just" a cold. Please take care of yourself and avoid even more than you have. I love that
new sampler.. it has an antique quality about it. wonder what that linen is....
Lindy Stitches did a good linen review sometime within the last year. Also Julie of Reflections Framing and Stitching (I think) always shows various linens and describes them thoroughly. I do not have personal experience with Stitching Bits and Bobs but I have seen many, many poor reviews of their service so be warned.
Just to add to what Ginny has said, 123 Stitch say that Winter's Brew is equivalent to DMC 612, so you can find something in your stash that's similar. That is what I usually do, as I use evenweave mostly and not linen, so I check to see what colour I should be using and find something similar. Either that, or lay my threads down on various pieces of fabric to see which suits them the best. Hope you are clear of the virus and it's just a simple cold.
This is allergy season..........hope it's just that with you ! ! !
Take care, drink lots of hot tea, use Vicks and rest yourself. Praying you'll be just fine in a few days.
Enjoy your stitching, whatever you decide to do.
We WILL get through this.
Hugs from afar,

Stay save Marly and without fever it could be a flue or the allergy to the outside trees etc.
Like the charts of BBD and there are several designers who have freebees.
Enjoy your stitching and a big hug!
Greetings, Truus from Holland
I just heard........do not take Advil. Just a heads-up.

Teresa at kittenstitcher.com carries many Ewe and I and friends patterns. If they are listed on her site, she has them in stock. Her shipping rate is inexpensive, and she ships very fast. I love everything she sells. I have a mild case of something, it's probably the coronavirus, but I didn't want to use a test that would better serve someone who is sicker than I am. I'm treating at home like other types of the flu.
Feel better soon. Ann
Ann Thompson at The Shepherds Needle has shown fabrics with DMC threads to compare in most of her videos. Look at those - there aren’t a lot of them so it wouldn’t take a long time to go through them. Also Julie of Reflections Framing and Stitching is doing that, especially in her current videos featuring one new chart a day from market. Both of them have talked about the difference in dye lots and how one will appear to have brown and the next green and so on. Blessings, Marlene
My fingers are crossed it is seasonal allergies for you Marly. Not that I would wish that on anyone but in these times I think it beats the alternative. Things are budding in Ohio and my sinuses etc are letting me know it.Be well
I woke up last week with a what I would call a thick throat. Not sore but not right and a bit stuffy head feeling, went away in a few hours I assumed it was just some allergy. I usually have a few sneezes in the afternoon, again allergy . I hope your symptoms stop soon. Fabric colors are so tricky, and if you get something that is dyed so you get some mottling, good luck. The piece you buy is never exactly like the same as the one you saw. That is why I buy fabric through out the year and then pick through stash for something I like. Country Sampler in Spring Green WI, they do kit some patterns up and then you know what you are getting. I find Theresa ( kitten stitcher) fabric choices are nice too. Today Husband and I ( separately) are taking car/truck for a 15 minute ride, hahahah. Don't want dead batteries. My car has new battery but will be fun to get out. Take care
Oh no!! Hoping it is just a regular flu that will pass. When I got sick a few weeks ago, it was the strangest flu I ever had....started with massive headaches...then body aches...every part of me hurt, but especially my back....nausea, chills...a bit of a cough, but nothing to really speak of...a runny nose for a few days...and extreme, extreme, fatigue....to the point where I would fall off balance standing up. I don't know WHAT it was, but was glad to be rid of it. Later when I read what the COVID19 symptoms are, I would have sworn that that's what I had...but it just couldn't have been....I would be at a complete loss as to where I would have possibly been exposed...and I can't imagine that it wouldn't have been much worse for me given my immune and respiratory issues. So, there is something going around that is awfully dang similar me thinks. As for stitching, you must have and Adam & Eve thing going LOL... I was debating on the new BBD book...but have not seen anyplace that shows me anything but the cover so far. Linen colors...well, I do buy "stash" linens for smaller projects and "pick your own" projects...but typically I purchase the "called-for" linen because I am unimaginative like that. It presents a problem, however, when the fabric is no longer available for the pattern chosen. (But, shhh...keep this to yourself...but I have actually bought the linen right away when buying a new pattern, just so I don't run into "that" problem...). Get better~~ Robin
Ok forget that part about and "Adam & Eve" thing... They aren't A&E LOL...that happens to be a HOUSE in between them, not a *&^#ing TREE.... ;-)
It sounds so wrong to say I hope it's only cold or flu, but here we are, saying just that. I hope you feel better soon.
And with regard to linens, you are definitely not the only one. When "my" LNS went out of business late last year, I spent an obscene amount on linens because, just like garment and quilting fabrics, I needed to see and feel what I was getting. Some I reached for due to color and put them back because they were stiff as a board and scratchy. At my current stitching rate, I have a lifetime supply of white, off white, natural in several counts. And some of the hand dyes were passed by because they were so different on various areas of the same cut.
Thank you for sharing with us - I so enjoy the blog.
I refuse to worry about me because I have fought bigger monsters -
does 4 brain surgeries count????!!!!!!!!!!
But I DO worry about Son because he is on the front lines at the hospital.
They have good protective equip but how long will it last?
No wonder my hair is this color!
Take care everyone - I want to start a project that commemorates this time in my life ~ any suggestions for samplers? (big or small)
All the best, Mimi
