Hi folks. Hope everyone is well. I sound like an elk calling in a mate while stomping on a goose. No fever. Without a fever, you aren't tested. Mistake? Who knows for sure, but I will check will my doc again tomorrow. I'm not sick, just the throat and chest, sleeping a lot, so I'm not concerned. I have an antibiotic (chewable!) and I started on that already. How are you and your families? Any concerns, colds, flu?
I am working on 35 count and doing OK, but I don't think the coverage is as good as I expected. The WDW Beige linen is perfect for the threads. The called for Winter's Brew (R&R) is listed as similar to DMC 612 on 123's site. DMC 611 is used throughout the sampler so I would think that thread would not show at all, but it's very pronounced on the model. I'm sure some linen pieces are lighter, some darker than that, and ordering online offers no choice.
I've already changed two colors, the 611 to 610 for the clothing and and 3859 to 407 for the flesh. Very subtle change. GAST Pomegranate is the charted red used throughout or DMC 3777 which I've used so far. But the house? I want a variegated thread and my closest reds are Mulberry or Buckeye Scarlet. One is too purple and the other very bright. I'm not ordering the Pomegranate or any other GAST without seeing it. Too many skeins dramatically different from others of the same name.
These Mulberry skeins are subtle and very nice. One Scarlet skein is pink, one bright, one is like yarn. The twist is loose, fibers are raised, and none of the three are noticeably shaded. I will order several (Valdani?) online today between naps and wait until they arrive before deciding on the house red.
EDIT- OMG!! It IS yarn!! It's wool!!
EDIT- OMG!! It IS yarn!! It's wool!!
And speaking of arrivals ... has anyone received or heard about Amercan Country magazine yet? Emails, texts, no replies.
The brats are doing OK. Nit's hair is growing back on his ear except for the scar, but still curled in. He smacked Petey a few times yesterday and Petey backed up. Poor guy is trying so hard to be a part of the gang and I think he is making progress. They were all peacefully napping on the deck yesterday. He was a big bruiser when he arrived and ate like a horse. He had round worms and received the medication in his food over a month ago. Now he is much thinner and hardly eating at all, even fancy shmancy canned food.
Stay well and be careful! I think this will be longer than expected.

Have you considered overdyeing your own threads? To prim up a color- Primitivesbythelightofthemoon has tutorial. I first dip the skein in hot water and wring out-I personally think this helps some... Sometimes hard to see where you added dye so first pass don't over do. Then you have to wait for it to dry (you can use a hairdryer) Worth a try? I think dyeing your own gives you better control esp if you need more than one skein. also less $$. Hope you feel better
Marly, where do you get your 10 yd skeins? It would come in handy!!

Sunday Greetings....Had hoped you'd be feeling better by now. Yup...that fever thing is a bit tricky, is it not?? I could have sworn what I had fit all the symptoms as I said...but no fever that I really paid attention to (bad chills and hot flashes though)...and no clue where I could have possibly been exposed to it given where we live and my lack of social interaction. I do think there are a great many more cases out there...those who get over it like typical flus. I know you are not a fan of flu shots (and I don't blame you WHATSOEVER), but I do get mine...maybe, just maybe, it "softened the blow" a bit if that's really what it was. Anyways...GET BETTER!! Wow...when you stitch, you STITCH! I'm no help with colors.... and you know my feelings on the inconsistencies of the variegated colors. I repeat GRRRRR. I salute your intrepidness in substituting out colors. The called-for colors in the "project" I am now working on are no where like the ones shown on the model...but I was too chicken to change and now have stitched too much to change out. What a chicken sh#t. GET BETTER (did I say that already??? ;-) )
Stay save Marly and take care of yourself and get well soon!
Love your sampler and hope you will have the right color.
Greetings, Truus from Holland
Glad you're stitching to pass the time.
Sure wish you'd start feeling better and the cough would go away.
Hoping that with a bit more time all of your kitties will get along.
You sure do take good care of all of them.
Glad Bud's ear is better.
We're all well here. Hope it stays that way.
This is going to be "the year that was" !
Can not believe all that has gone and is going on.
Take care and get well soon.
Hugs,
Charlotte in Va.
I think I take exception to you saying you're not sick. Unless you mean not sick with COVID-19...
I'm glad the brats can spend some time together without fighting. Hopefully it becomes more frequent.
Color variations in hand dyed yarns, it may be one reason I don't like to buy unless I have a project in mind and can buy all I need at one time. I hope. When ordering on line, can you request that multiple skeins come from the same dye batch?
I'm glad to hear about your tribe of cats; you take such good care of them and I admire you for your compassion. I really enjoy seeing your stitching projects, too.
What I was told by a health worker: corona is an evolving illness, and just as the same influenza microbe or rhinovirus or respiratory infection can present differently in different people, so can corona. For some reason, the "symptoms" are being presented as rigid and absolute, but just as some people get gastric upset with Influenza A and some people do not, not every person will get every textbook symptom of corona and nothing else, no matter what is being said.
One of my daughters' supervisors came down with a fever, deep wracking cough, and pain in her eyes so strong she had to wear sunglasses in any light. Because her symptoms did not "match" the Party Line of "This is what corona is", she was told she did not have it, but instead the flu. After a week of taking anti-flu medication with no improvement and developing a chest wheeze along with the coughing, she went back to the doc, where she was told she had asthma and was given an inhaler. Which did not help. After another week she went back to the doc AGAIN, and very, very reluctantly she was tested for corona and to the surprise of no one but the health "professional", she tested positive!
It is possible to get this and not have "classic" symptoms. It is possible to get this and have the mildest of symptoms. It is possible to get this and have NO symptoms. It is also probable that many many people have it and are being told they do not.
Whatever ails you, I hope you feel better soon.
