After many color tries to replace the 3024 that doesn't show very well, yellow may be the one. The last option was a light teal and I liked it, so why did I move on to yellow? Because color choice creates a brain blockage. A hindrance to progress. Usually changes are implemented rather quickly but several options worked so well here that I am in a pickle. I may go back to the light teal which looked really nice with the 975. Damn.
I've been seeing old sampler charts that I really like and may find one day, or not. Doesn't matter really. I remember thinking I had so much stash ... until .... Flosstube happened. I'm not even in the Junior League. But still enough to keep me busy. Now about the linen.
I watched the Attic's video and was really surprised, and confused, at the difference in color between thread counts. I need to educate myself and take a few reference notes for future orders. This screen shot from the video shows the vast difference of the same color in different counts. Parchment (front) and Old Gold (back) in 40 and 46. Newcastle is the name of 40 count like Cashel is 28 and Belfast 32? Why would Newcastle and Bristol dye so differently if the linen is the same except for count? I thought Newcastle was a type of linen, but it refers to the count? Can't we just say the brand, like Wichelt or Zweigart, and a color name and count? Are they named because they are woven with different threads, thickness, or texture? Am I the only one clueless?
I'm so glad they showed this, not that I would be adding 46 count to my linen drawer, but it sort of explains why my 28 and 35 count of the same color, aren't. Or does it? I just don't understand why. And as I said, I need to familiarize myself more with terminology and names. I heard "Legacy linen" so often in videos and I don't know if that is a color, a type, or a count! And what is Silkweaver? Another company that dyes their own like PTP and WDW? Where the hell is my notebook.

My sister lost 14#!! That's exactly what I found. I was hoping to have the books for her by now, but I don't. I ordered from a store in Toledo Ohio, about 3 hours away thinking they would get here quicker. Tracking shows - from Toledo, to Glendale Height IL, to York PA (they just passed Pittsburgh), to Harrisburg PA, to Warrendale PA, to Pittsburgh PA. I'm east of Toledo. The books went west to IL, then shot east past Warrendale and Pittsburgh to York and Harrisburg in central PA, then back west to Warrendale and Pittsburgh. Both orders from two stores followed the same path. I expect delays since the PO is overloaded and busier than ever, but five distribution centers seem like a huge waste of man hours. And gas.
Oh that hurts my brain.
Have a good week!
Stay safe.

I hear you loud and clear with the Flosstube video's. I love them, I get confused, colors??? I need to go to The Attic and see for myself. I need to see, feel, compare. It would probably be quicker than waiting for what I ordered online! (not their fault)
NO - you may come sit with me in the "confused about fabrics" section!
Maybe it's different dye lots on those "same" fabrics? Not that I know much of anything about dyeing, but it seems that if you are a teenytinyitsybitsy smidge off in measurements, you can have... not what you intended. Or linen grown in different areas or different years? Anyway, this is another reason why I hesitate to buy linen (any fabric really) on line. The other reason is how the fabric feels - soft and smooth? stiff as a board and scratchy? These are reasons why I spent an ungodly amount on linen when "my" LNS retired last year.
I wish yelling "grow you little bastards" worked on what I want to grow as well as it does on the weeds. Plant selection was craptastic when I looked for veggie plants a week and a half ago - not nearly as many varieties and not as many plants overall.
Your petunias are sooo pretty. You'd better go today, they may be gone tomorrow !
Don't know how to get in the conversation about Flosstube, Attic or the different counts. You all amaze me !
I ordered what I thought was going to be 14 count Aida from Amazon.....when it came it was 18.......going back.
Bud's pose is adorable. My kitties sleep with their paws over their eyes too.
Went to Walmart this morning.......it was quite nice. Not many people, I went early, and the aisles were marked "go this way" and "don't enter".
Had a cart full, so won't need to go back any time soon. The mask got hot, so I know what you mean about not being able to breathe. My hands got sweaty in my gloves and were hard to get off. UGH ! How much longer ?
Have a good, healthy week.
Good for Carole ! ! !

The linen is so pretty, but what a difference!!! Whodda thunk?
Love the petunias. I hope I can find the ones I bought last year that I put in the baby bathtub. I generally don't buy the hanging baskets, but you are tempting me.
Legacy is a type of linen. I just bought some legacy corn tassel 37ct for a sampler. Don't know if I will be able to stitch on it though. The holes look awfully small. Your flowers are pretty.
Marly: You always make me smile in your posts.
I have a problem with the fact that not all dye lots are the same, I have bought fabric in the past that were the same name not the same color.
I like the color yellow you chose it is nice and looks perfect.
14#s I wish I could lose 2#, I hope Carole is doing better and gets her books soon.

Love your sampler how it's coming along and the fabrics you have are splendid. I didn't think there were any difference when dyeing linen only Jobelan and Lugana. I learned something new today.
Your bubblegum are gorgeous! Do hope you got your other baskets too.
I don't know anything about counts of fabric nowadays anymore- so confusing all these number of counts and so different from when I started stitching many years ago.
Stay save and healthy and enjoy your stitching.
Greetings, Truus from Holland
Hello, the reason fabric count changes the color os the linen is because the tighter the weave (higher counts like 36,40) the darker the color because it absorbs the color more. The same color in a lower count (like 28,30) does not absorb the color as much due to the looser the weave, results in the lighter color. I hope this helps. Love reading your blog.
I read Patti's comment about the color of the linen but it still seems odd to me that they are so vastly different. I just planted those two colors of petunias in a basket like planter that sits on my deck. Hope they grow like crazy! I do like the new sampler start! By the way, I have a similar reaction to a mask. I get hot and feel like I can't get my breath!
Not much help coming from this corner regarding the linen names and differences. I knew that different counts will absorb the dye colors differently (so, like Patti said, the higher count, tighter, weaves hold on to more color)...but, like Barb says, the differences in the photos seem more drastic than can be attributable to differing thread counts. I also know that "Cashel" is what Zweigart calls it 28 count 100% linen, while "Belfast" is what they call their 32 count 100% linen... Anywho....Yay me...I haven't gone near a greenhouse yet. I promised myself that I had to seriously cut back with my container gardening...they just won't make it if I am not around to keep them watered continually. I would still like to plant a few of my larger tubs, and pots...they can go a few days without water even on our interminably windy days. Well, crap on the book front. Let me know if she might have any interest in some of my stash. Love, love, love the pulleys.....I've used them for hangers even indoors... ~Robin~
