Hiya. Can't believe we are mid May already, and as offices start to reopen, I've got a slew of appointments in the next several weeks. These last days have been puzzling. Maybe it's the autoimmune, but I am feeling exhausted. Completely spent. So barely a task was attempted.
I did pick up the needle and decide to continue the left border rather than waste my time deciding on the alphabet. I need a few changes and nothing has worked to my liking. Once the border is finished I can count down to work on the second alphabet while delaying the first. Trying to order some linen colors I saw on Flosstube but everyone is out right now along with an old sampler design I am interested in. This morning I viewed more videos and saw A Most Noble Pursuit collaboration from years ago. Mistakenly thought they would be small enough for individual tree ornaments, they are not. Thank goodness for the description alerting me to the size or I would have spent $40 and been very disappointed. If you are looking for this old chart, I found one here. Haven't found it anywhere else, maybe there is only one, or maybe it's been re-released??
I did manage to slide a few cupboards into different rooms and need your opinion. I can't stand open clutter, I don't care how organized or attractive, so I will make doors for the top and close them. This corner is not used, the room is tiny and more of a walk through than usable space. It fits here, although I do think it's too much (I'm being a minimalist), (except for my body). It needs to be painted over the dull taupe. So what color? A very light sage seems to be the hot color and I like that, or maybe grayish. So what say you? How do you pull together a small room with two different painted cupboards? My only thought is to use a neutral, several shades lighter on one and darker on the second. Yes, one thought is my limit. If the room was larger and had additional furnishings it wouldn't be an issue.

Thanks for the Kindle idea of downloading from my laptop for Carole. I don't have a Kindle, but could probably download to her slow as heck tablet. It is on her (flip) cell phone contract, but she can't do anything right and I spend many hours on the phone trying to help her. I ordered a dozen used from Abe Books and they will be delivered Monday but I know they will not be right. Nothing ever is!! Like mother, like daughter. But I do plan to try the downloads for her, even though she wants a book in hand.
Stitching tonight, flower shopping tomorrow. Then a ride and DD stop for cappuccino.
I hope your week is swell.
Thanks for visiting.

Well, hey you.....Long time no chitty chat...sorry I disappeared. I just don't handle life well these days it seems LOL. But I am now at the lake, watching the choppy waves and the cold rain on the windows...Justbuilt a fire...and trying to play catch up here. I know you really won't want my opinion, and it is hard to tell from the photo bits of the room, but I, personally, really love that taupe....I might darken that other cabinet to a lighter tone of that LOL. (see....told ya you wouldn't want my opinion).... Books??? Need books??? (Yeah, I've broken my rules and am reading new post first because I fear I would never catch up otherwise)....but if you do, I have bunches and bunches...been binge reading again (exactly why I cut myself off cold turkey several years ago....I just don't know when to quit...which means non-stop reading and tomes and tomes of books as I can't do online reading or audio stuff....) Just tell me genre and I can ship some out....all in new condition save a few chocolate splotches here and there.... ~Robin~
How about making the corner cupboard a lighter or darker taupe than the other? I like the cupboard the way it is! Nice.
How is Carole related to you? I’ve read your blog for months now and am not sure.
If you want a change of color I would go for the sage as the gray would basically be the same as the taupe. I think the white cupboard fades into the background so I personally wouldn't change it, but that is up to you. Funny how we all see things differently. I see neat and organized shelves on that cupboard that appeal to my sense of symmetry and order.
I'm looking at your table too. It's beautiful ! I think your light sage would be very pretty on the cabinet with doors. Is there another wall in that room that the cabinet without doors could be moved to ? Maybe a smaller piece of furniture there, similar to your table ?
I love moving furniture around and then moving it back again.
Just my opinion. Love the big bowl.........
Have fun shopping for flowers and have a safe, healthy week.

Reading suggestion for Carole: I like the Jan Karon/Mitford series, too, and found another "small town/homesey" type series I have really enjoyed. I have read and listened to the books on audio books. Author: Patrick Taylor - the first in the series is "An Irish Country Doctor". They are very clever and amusing. They chronicle life in a small town in Ireland as seen through the eyes of a young doctor and crotchety GP physician he assists. Good luck! and stay well!
Marly: I am one who likes different colors together, I like the way the two are together now, or maybe stain it the color of the table top.
Thank-you for the link on the Sampler.
Does carole have Amazon prime, there are so many wonderful books for free on Amazon Prime, just a thought.
I too need high octane coffee, I think we are all not used to staying put for so long, it looks like the cat wants full caffeine coffee and not decaf, giggles.
Have a lovely week.
Catherine
I love all the white with your antiques, Marly! I'm (im)patiently waiting for my kitchen remodel to start. It was scheduled for the mid to end of April...now... it looks like it will be started in the heat of summer...ugh! I saw that pattern on FlossTube yesterday. $40 sounds like a great price. I heard it was going for big $$$. It's too much stitching for me...and it really doesn't fit into my decor. Do you watch Carol, Salt Box Stitcher & Brenda and the Serial Starter? I love their videos. So much inspiration! Good luck with you flower shopping today...we did all of ours this past week. Take care...
The cupboard is really nice the way it is but my computer screen is showing it more mustard than taupe and I love the mustard and sage paint colors. I agree with visual clutter! I have much of it. Finding linen these days is a bit tricky. I am still waiting for my HATS sampler fabric and threads. I Hope it comes before Christmas!
That room looks plenty big to me! Oh, how you would hate my house!!! I am definitely not a minimalist...lol :)
I haven't even thought about flower shopping yet...sigh.
Marly, with the Kindle, Amazon puts their 7 or 8 inch Fire tablets that are cheaper than plain Kindles on sale from time to time. The Fires I believe may have text to speech and will read book to you, I enjoy mine.
I have that chart somewhere in my stash!! Never stitched it, but HAD to have it - lol.
