It's gold I tell 'ya!

Hiya folks.  I'm rooting around in a mess and found a few spools of this discontinued (I believe) gold thread.  I will never use this much and also have the flat gold that is wound on a wooden Talon spool.  ????  Not by me.  It must be from my SIL and it is wound so neatly that it appears to be original, but Talon did not make such a thread, did they?  Is anyone interested in either?  Do you think someone in a needlework group on FB may be?

My errors in the last project do not bother me one bit, I moved the motifs deliberately (because, well.... you know) but not being able to understand why the counts did not coincide with my moves baffled me.

So I start again!  But this time I found the reason quickly.  Bad habit of mine is to memorize the repeat patterns, but in reproductions it's almost impossible for them to be the same.  I removed a lot of this side because of that.

Starts with 8 stitches, then 9, then 10 to compensate for the 8, the rest 9.  If I didn't correct this and continued with 8, it would have been uneven at the bottom where I want to insert a straight border.
Blue Angel hostas are my favorite and they do so well along the garage side. You can see the browned area at the bottom of the tallest shrub, courtesy of ...............

You guessed it.  Been lounging all of yesterday and today on the bench, dirty as can be, happy to get his head and neck scratched.  I tried to quickly apply the flea med while scratching but he bolted and I wasted a tube.

Enjoy the last full week of July which is breaking my heart.  Stay safe, be well.

Thanks for visiting.

Ha ha....love that photo of Petey.... Also love the Blue Angels....I don't think angels of any kind like Nod much. ?? They sure don't thrive. Hmmmm....Many of my junipers turned brown like that (ok...all of them), so I just gave up on them. We chalk it up to "winter kill"....Suppose it could be stray cats spraying...it's possible, but our ac unit was unscathed for 20+ years....The strays don't stick around long thanks to SnowDog. I am loving the new piece already....beautiful green and linen choice!!! Stitch on! ~Robin~

Because of you I have been following Mary Corbet ( thank you! ). She happens to be featuring gold embroidery and here you are offering up your gold thread. Should I take it as a sign? Nope. Way too advanced for my skill level.

Your hostas are beautiful ! Some of my, just plain, big green ones are trying to out do themselves.
Petey's feet are cute. Sorry about the flea meds........too expensive to lose.
Have a happy last two weeks of July.

I would love some of the gold thread. I have been following the Mary Corbet blog. A friend in my smocking group was supposed to go to England this month to take a class at the Royal school of needlework. She was going to come back and give us all a small project to work on. She has shared a stash of gold threads that she ordered from Australia at the January meeting. It's all so pretty and fragile looking but she says its easy to work with. Some of it is couched to the fabric. This is the craziest year. I have been finishing projects that I had stitched and were piling up.
We have a feral cat that frequents our yard and has killed several vols and birds. We have been unable to trap him. He seems to be a very picky eater. We did trap a baby raccoon. Had to call animal control to come release it. Not a good thing.

I am a big Hosta fan, I have a shady back yard. I have only lost one, this year my favorite"spilt milk" hosta did not return, I was very sad. Will have to wait now to find replacement. Not every nursery has one, and none at this late date. I too have been fooled my uneven borders I learned this lesson too. Stay well.

Your Hostas are beautiful and really punctuate the bed with color. How kind of you to offer that gold thread.. just know it will be appreciated. I learned early in
doing antique designs that memorizing can get you into trouble...especially those
done by little girls and we were held to exacting count, errors and all.

Whenever I assumed a count is the same, I get in big trouble. One time I frogged for a week. That was in my younger more patient days!

Your hostas are gorgeous. I don't care what landscaper designers say about hosta rings around trees - they save a huge amount of trimming time and save the trees from trimmer damage. Hummingbirds like the flowers. And native lady bugs love to overwinter under their leaves.
