You're serious?

1.  Obviously, they are!  My state (PA) does not believe that a person deliberately voting under someone else's name, is intentional.  If you sign someone else's name on a check, I guess that's also not intentional and shouldn't be considered fraud.

The fact that our state and federal governments are so irresponsible in their jobs, that they don't know who is deceased, don't know if a social security number should be active, is a disgrace.  We received my father in law's (died in 2008 and never lived here) and my mother's (died in 2007 and did live here), mail in ballot applications.  I have their SS# and no doubt could mail them in and get a ballot for each.  But of course, that would not be intentional fraud according to my state.  If they think this person is alive and a legitimate voter (obviously since an application was mailed), how would they know to reject that ballot?  My brother received the former home owner's who lives in another state and has for over 20 years.  Shouldn't counties which have more accurate records be responsible for this?  Property taxes would have the correct owners, per capita tax records are for every resident whether they own or rent employed or not, death certificates are recorded, and our voting records are there.  Wouldn't that make more sense?

2.  And in the same day's paper, there was this story of a local teacher.  I hid his name because the  jackass would probably sue.

Am I reading this right?  He can apply to a school in another district or state, and they are not obligated to release this sexual misconduct in his file?  Unless compelled by law?  So they protect their union members to this extent with no regard for possible victims?  Please correct me if I am wrongly interpreting this and I surely hope I am.  It's happened around here several times, and these cases seem to disappear.

3.  AND - I cannot find my two pieces of 35 count 18th Century Rook,  I must have sold them, and have no idea why I would have!

4.  AND - those sweet little Fragment charts that I bought recently?  I found one.  ONE.  The others have vanished.

5.  AND - my large soapstone sink cracked.  Cracked.  Across the entire width.

How's your weekend going???

OMG! you live in the wrong state! No teacher's union in New York would support that teacher remaning in education (my son and his wife are both union stewards but in separate districts). Better believe no deals on keeping this info quiet from any future employer. School districts don't want that kind of person on their faculty - among other things, they can be held liable in civil court
Anyone found guilty of those types of charges are automatically put on a Child Molester list which is available to the public. Depending on the severity of the charges, the molester may be limited in where they are allowed to live and can have their address made public to be sure communities know they are there and exactly where they are.

Whenever I read the news I am left shaking my head. Our society has become reluctant to hold individuals accountable for their bad behavior, instead they make excuses for them. Just another reason I enjoy your blog so much - always interesting and fun (even if you speak of the mundane),love your cat, yard, house and stitchery pics, you have a wicked sense of humor, and I always agree with your take on things! Scary to think what the future may hold, try to enjoy the positives.

Again, I agree with Anonymous. What is happening to our country ?
So very sorry about your sink.
I hope the remainder of this weekend will prove to be more positive for you.
Not looking forward to the Dems convention next week. UGH !
Will keep the TV off most of the day.
Hugs,
Charlotte in Va.

Along with what is happening to our country I think we need to ask how did we let this happen to our country? I admit I must have been "asleep at the wheel" and for too long assumed the higher ups etc were capably doing what we hired and votedthem to do. Boy have I been wrong.
I hope we are waking up from our stupor. Thankyou Marly for sharing this news. We don't hear about this from our regular news sources.

Oh and meant to say I'm very sorry to read of your cracked sink!

2020 has been an awful year so far and August has been terrible! The next calendar I get will NOT have August in it! I hope you can salvage the rest of the month and even the rest of the year!

Marly, I am sorry about the crack in your sink. I am not a fan of random mail in balloting and I am a proponent of showing an ID when you vote. Heck, you have to show an ID to buy cigarettes, alcohol, set up utilities or bank accounts, see a doctor or buy a home so why not to vote. That person wouldn't be able to get another job here, but could apply in other states.

I guess that I am really glad to live in Massachusetts (we do have our faults). We have to apply for mail in voting, different from absentee voting. That teacher would be placed on a list and not hired elsewhere in this state.

May your day improve. Sorry about your sink. Love reading your blog. Say Hello to your kitty crew.

And the Democrats claim there will be no fraud with mail in voting!
The teacher??? Unbelievable. That's akin to the Catholic Church (and I'm Catholic) reassigning priests to other parishes.
So sorry about the sink!!!

YIKES x5!!! Don't know where to even begin here. That's bs about the ballots....and the teacher. JMO, but it seems everything has been geared to push for mail-in voting (several of the larger cities in our state were actually given very sizable grants of money to PROMOTE mail-in voting) - including the hysteria over COVID. And, yeah....when a cat gets a ballot (seriously happened), I don't think anyone can say there's no potential for fraud with a straight face. And I don't care if the incidents cited in your article are intentional or not....it still leads to inaccurate voting. As for the teacher, I vote we castrate him. But, given that I am pretty sure THAT is still illegal, it is not unusual to have something like that in a settlement. Even if it weren't there, the school and school district's hands are somewhat tied as to what they can disclose without opening themselves up to liability. Crazy I know, but that's our society today in a nutshell. On the bright side, his criminal record WILL be public record....and any school district should be checking those records routinely as part of their hiring process. Major bummer about the sink.....now what????? It isn't even that old!!! Hopefully still covered by some kind of warranty?? And, ummmm....I do think I may have bought your 18th Century Rook linen..... :-( ~Robin~

Just horrible about the teacher. We had a case here in WA where the entire year a teacher was being investigated for such horrible charges that, thanks to the union, he got paid!!! Really sorry about your sink!!

Where will it all end? In a positive election one prays. Perhaps the sink can be
saved by that glue the boat back into shape advertiser.. the fixative that seals
against flooding... So sorry about that.. That molester should be de-gendered by the
most uncomfortable method. The reason so much has gotten out of hand is that the
culprits (molesters, rioters, et al.) have gotten away with it... Nothing like
comparable consequences to stem the tide.....
