Choices

Hi folks.  It's cold.  I'm ticked.  Surgery tomorrow morning again.  I sure hope he doesn't put a pin in, and I offered a nut roll and bobalky if he doesn't.
I went to Michaels for the 70% sale and was surprised at the cost of framing.  The samplers were not that large and I did not choose elaborate frames, but because I mounted myself and don't use glass, very reasonable.  I won't have to secure the piece, cut a backing, glue the dust cover, and add a hanger.  Good deal.  So if I can walk Thursday, I plan to take several more in to test options.  Of course they don't have the variety of a framing shop, but if I only find a few to my liking that's progress.

As for the BBD project that I adore, I don't know if I should frame or roll.  To test the look, I rolled the Mylar and inserted, it unrolled to hold the sampler so I could ponder that look for a few days.  I cut and use this product for my drums although I have used crushed shells before.

It makes a straight side and once filled, holds the shape perfectly.  I bought a few sheets before Pat Catan's closed, but I would think Michaels carries it too,  Used for cutting templates and stencils.

In cleaning my closet and searching for pants that fit, I see this hanging behind a door.  I forgot about it!!  Obviously have not finished it along with the red wool pocket behind it.  I hope to.  If I am pleased with the finishing I may offer it.  If I get frustrated and am not happy with my work, it stays.

Have a great day!!

Good luck with the surgery and fingers crossed you don’t have to pin it! I started buying frames at Hobby Lobby that are on the clearance rack. Each one is beautiful and some are quite large! The large ones will inspire me to do those big samplers (I’ve collected quite a few charts. Lol) I like your BBD pice as a roll. It looks nice and love the bag on your door!

I remember your working on that horse design. You are something; bribing the doctors.
Blessings on your procedure and here is hoping you don't need to be pinned. Your BBD
design impressive as a roll....

I'm shocked to hear Michael's was reasonable, even with you doing all the work!
Love those 2 funky horses. What fun.
Good luck tomorrow.

Best wishes for the surgery tomorrow....and fingers crossed the bribe pays off. I love the BBD piece as a roll!! Hmmmm....I think you should do it as a roll AND give us a tutorial on how you do the finishing with the mylar. I have always just used BBD's general drum/pinroll finishing instructions...so have always just stuffed my tightly and sewing the circular tops on (pain in the butt in my book LOL). And aha!!! I remember you working on the ponies!! Loved them then and love them now!! Good luck tomorrow! ~Robin~

Marly, good luck with your surgery. It never hurts to try bribery! You should turn the BBD piece into a drum, it's perfect! I've yet to make a drum but it's on my list to do! Cherie in WI

Take care and stay save

Good Luck with your surgery and hopes that this will take care of your pain.
Does your mind ever stop? You are sooooo creative and give us such wonderful ideas. I've stolen so many of them. Think twice about giving away your ponies - they are so adorable and special. Have a great day......cooler here in Dayton - Brrrrrrr

Marly: Good luck with surgery, I hope you are back to your self soon, not walking would drive me up a wall even if for a short time.
So sorry about Carole, I hope the steroids help and the new med also.
Lovely idea for a barrel insert, I think I am going to have to try that.
I had two pieces framed last month, one at Joann's and one at Hobby lobby, less expensive at Hobby Lobby.
Have a great day

Hoping your surgery went well today, Marly! I guess I missed what you were having done, but I do hope you're not laid up too long. Glad the framing at Michaels was less than you thought it would be. I imagine that most of the cost of labor goes into the mounting which you had done yourself. Will look forward to seeing your framed pieces. Take care now and I hope you aren't in too much pain! ♥
