Eye yi yi

Here we go again!!  Back to the eyes.

I've been trying to mount two larger samplers for framing, both stitched on a loose weave 28 or 30.  What a disaster.  I'm assuming it's from stitching in hand and distorting the edges while they were rolled.  I knew Ann Hicks was when I pressed her at the finish and what a PITA it was to mount.  There was nothing I could do (hot water, hot dryer, softener) that helped those corners come back.  The entire piece is stretched too tight which helped the wrinkles that refused to leave.  She's done, but so are my fingers.  So many pin pricks.  Here's a tip - if you get blood on your linen, immediately saturate a Qtip with peroxide and dab, then with a dry one, and continue until removed.

I have a few more to do tomorrow and I will never use a looser silky weave again!!

It's September.  Crap.

Missed you for a couple of days because I did something wrong when logging in.But with some help from son in law it's allright now.
When I have blood on my stitching, I put straight away some spittle (hope that's the right word) on that blood and some salt--it will disapeare after debbing with a piece of kitchentowelpaper.
Take care and hope your toe surgery will go well.
Greetings, Truus from Holland

Truus beat me to it with the saliva trick -- an old quilter's remedy. But it has to be the saliva of the person who made the blood stain - something about an exact enzyme match. It works every time

I hope you will show us your finishes!!!
Never heard of that blood tip that Truus and Kathi mentioned. Now if I remember it...

Wow!, who would have thought framing could be so painful.
My stitching has taken a dive for the past couple of weeks. Having everyone home during our lockdown (AUS) had obliterated both my time & patience. I get to the end of the day &'m off to bed too.
Now that we are getting back into a semi-normal routine & the kids are back at school, I have more time up my sleeve.
Do you have any stitching goals for September?
Keep safe xo

May I say that slightly wonky parts of a piece do provide a prim touch (which I love).

I will not mount/frame my pieces...not in a box...not with a fox. Not in a house...not with a mouse. Reading how it should be done gave me a headache each and every time I read them. Thanks for the tip on the blood removal...Even though I don't mount my work, I have been known to poke myself unnecessarily often....or just seem to spring blood unexpectedly LOL. And, hmmmm....I think I would rather use peroxide and qtips than spit...but think I will jot both ideas down in my stitching journal (and then hope I remember I did....yeah, my and Lauren's "sameness" runs deep....) In any event, good luck with those "eyes"...it's looking gorgeous..... ~Robin~
