I follow very few decorators on Instagram. Using my laptop, not the app, I only see those that I follow. Using my tablet with the app, I am bombarded with ads and photos from people that don't interest me. One thing I noticed is the multitude of "white farmhouse" sites, all white, all the same, shiplaps, thick pillows, rugs, candles, and foliage. I am about to stop following, tired of hearing "buy my book", "swipe up", "go to my blog". I know the sites are businesses and doing very well, but I am getting too old to enjoy them. Daily videos, everything seems rushed and hyper, room decor changes daily, and it's an overload rather than an enjoyable visit. Well now, it's Christmas decorating which has already changed several times since Halloween. Slow down people! Are you trying to outdo and get the jump on each other while we try to maneuver through the ads to find the info you promised? Today is warm and beautiful, but like Maxine, I'm still a crabass and can't seem to keep opinions to myself.

This one from Puleo is not available, I've tried everywhere. It was my first choice and I requested info from the company if it has been discontinued but no reply. This model also comes in a fuller version and is in stock (Amazon) but I prefer the slim. If it becomes available, I will order it for the other room.
I like them because they are "natural cut". I do like the sparse one from Balsam Hill but don't care for the fairy lights, and the other similar Red Spruce model is $500. Not willing to pay that when I change Christmas trees as often as underwear.
So. Is anyone already decorating?

I agree a slimmer tree is often more practical. Mine is too wide but I'm too miserly to change! I don't decorate for Christmas until 1 December.
H*## NO!! I am still enjoying Halloween....and IF I decorate, it will not be until after Thanksgiving. Last year I did not decorate...did not have a tree. I do like slim trees....and they would be more practical given my small space, but spent too much money on the one I have now and can't justify changing it out if I only consider putting it up LOL. ~Robin~
Still in fall/harvest/Thanksgiving décor mode here, Marly! I won't decorate for Christmas until about 10 to 12 days before. The last few years, I decorated my wrought iron tree because both of us were not motivated to haul up the Christmas tree from the basement.
I can understand why some are decorating for Christmas now but I want to enjoy our fall/Thanksgiving decorations this month. We can wait until after Thanksgiving to start Christmas decorations. Besides, after about a month I want it all down. :-)
No Christmas decorating yet for me. In fact, no Christmas until AFTER Thanksgiving. Guess I am out of the norm, I believe in being thankful and celebrating our heritage.
Halloween is put away and my one tote of Thanksgiving has been waiting for me for three days...sigh. Christmas goes up AFTER Thanksgiving. Cracks me up all the people who are decorating for Christmas now and then everything comes down on December 26.
The trees you have choosen are beautiful.
We don't have those trees here for sale, only the wide ones.
Stay save and healthy!
Greetings, Truus from Holland
I put some Fall/Autumn away, got out some Thanksgiving (Pilgrims, turkey, etc.) Won't start Christmas until after Thanksgiving. Then, I'm not doing as much as usual. The mood is just not right !
The trees that you show are very nice.
Bought one tree after Christmas, at Walmart, two years ago. Got it for five dollars. A six foot one, perfect for the spot I put it.
Have a good Friday and weekend.

Great topic! I have friends starting Christmas decor right now because every room, every single room looks like a Christmas explosion. Waaay too much for me. That said, Thanksgiving for our family was always a very special day. The extended family traveled to Grandmother's home and we got to see people we would only see at funerals, weddings, reunions, and Thanksgiving. It was great. The kids would laugh because it was the only time Granny's cleaner vacuumed under the dining room table. She had a wool carpet and it would form little fuzz balls. Hiding under the table in that gigantic Victorian house was the thrill of the day. Well, that and canned spaghetti, Granny did cook, she was a concert pianist. (our Mothers made all the food) Christmas here starts after Dec. 5th, husband's birthday. Down after the Kings visit. That's it. The world needs more "crab asses," that is what the problem really is!
I don't follow any decorator blogs (don't have IG or FB to follow there). Too many changes, too fast, too much $$ out the window... No Way do I decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving. Again this year, I didn't even get out the Halloween stuff, and probably won't get out the Thanksgiving stuff. Which in my house the change is pretty much take out the jack o'lanterns and skeletons and put in the squashes and turkeys. I think part of my issue is that I don't care for much of the new stuff that's offered, and I'm too cheap to spend the money for things I do like but are only seen for a few weeks, if that. And lots of what I *do* have is not to my taste any more. Oh - lets add lugging things up and down the attic stairs does my hip no favors.
I prefer a slim line tree also, not so full that ornaments don't hang right. I have been looking for a pre-lit multi color LED slim line 6-7 foot tree, with no success so far. Can find them with white LEDs, but not colors. Or too short. Or not slim line. Or the branches are too flimsy. I guess I'll just save my money for now.
Instead of cutting the branches to make spaces, would it work to bend them back and wrap around the branch? That might help hide the metal bits inside??
I haven’t started decorating yet but it’s on my mind! In my younger days I wouldn’t dream of decorating until the day after Thanksgiving but I’m much slower now and I think I’m about ready to start pulling it all out! Good luck on your tree search. I bought a new one last year but I’m thinking I need a feather tree fir my dining room.
I have my Thanksgiving mantel up, very sparse this year. Just a Mayflower plate and three turkey plates. Since it will be just us two for dinner, the same for Christmas. Not taking any chances, I will miss all the kids and grands but I want to be around for more Holidays so we distance. I will miss our Yankee swap always fun. After Thanksgiving, Christmas will be spare decorating too, will do mantel and just my little feather tree.
Still waist deep in Halloween. I have a big turkey made by a junk artist out of full sized pitchforks that I set out on the side porch for the Thanksgiving season. That and a turkey flag are it. Beginning of December I pull out the fake tree and do a little something on the mantle. Nothing even close to my Halloween decorations which still cause a little stirring in my heart. Makes me sad that I am at the point in my life where buying something new for Christmas is 1) of little interest to me 2) not practical when I have enough “things” 3) getting too old to lug things up and down the stairs 4) I have no children who will want any of this stuff.
Went for a walk in town yesterday and someone had their Christmas tree up and lit in front of a large living room window. Pretty but WAAAAAY too early for this girl. Thinking, yes. Doing, no. Hugs.
You and I agree on Instagram totally! Too much advertising (in a sneaky way) and too much promoting. I feel the exact same way on some of the blogs that I used to love...crap...you can't even read their blog post without some type of advertisement popping up. FlossTube....I used to enjoy it, but now every floss tuber seems to be promoting certain online shops and they are bombarded by give aways from a shop in Texas. I've all but stopped watching 90% of them.
Hobby Lobby has a beautiful flocked tree, very slim that I am really fighting NOT to buy, but it would look so good in my dining area...my problem is storing it after the holidays...it's only $99. I do have a Balsam Fir for my large tree...paid the price but I do love it! Have a great day, Marly!
I do not own a cellphone, so I do IG on my laptop. I get zero ads on IG. Interesting isn't that? I love that!
No, I do not ever decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving.
No way on decorating! I’m just getting ready with decorations for Thanksgiving. Dec. 1 I’ll start doing Christmas decorations. Let each holiday have its own season. Hugs,
I decorate for Autumn then when December arrives I'll haul out the Winter/Christmas decor then pack away all the Santa's and just leave the winter decorations until spring. Have a stay safe and great weekend. Hugs, Sandy
