Carole called her doctor and has an appointment Monday. She said she feels a little better today and took another half of her 40 mg Lasix. Ahhh, excuse me, what did you say? A half? It seems the other doctor that cared for her in Cleveland this summer regarding the carotid blockage, changed her heart doctor's prescription dosage. She went from two 40 mg lasix daily to a 20 mg half tablet. I just found this out and cannot understand this doctor's reasoning when she had her chart from previous visits and diagnoses. No wonder she is having issues. First of all, she had no business changing Carole's primary cardiologist's orders. The cardio she just saw a few weeks ago here, did not question it. Well I am. Her wonderful PCP called her personally when he saw she made an appointment, to see if she needed treatment before then. He told her to follow her sister's advice and take two 40 a day for two days to remove fluid and then one a day, he will see her then. I'm sure this is the problem and honestly, am surprised she hasn't had a crisis on only 20 mg for months. That may be a good sign that the meds are helping her heart failure. But I'm not a medical professional, most crabasses don't qualify. But we do like to give orders.
The sun is out today and snow is melting. I think I will move the grapevine to the back and bring that little lighted twig here to the corner. I found brown wire light strings on Amazon and purchased two sets, just in case I make another tree. I do like the brown strings much better on any sparse tree and haven't found them in any stores. So much nicer on the mostly brown German twig trees.
Have a great day folks!!

Good news on a possible/probable cause of Carole's breathing woes. So when there's multiple doctors, who's orders take priority (at least in theory) and tracks all medications and changes? Especially when there are conflicting medications, or this doctor says take more, that doctor says take less...
Now that her doctor has been alerted and an appointment set, may I suggest taking a minute or 5 and sit in a sunny spot and watch the melting snow drip off of things and hopefully calm your own anxiety?
Good news! I hope this will allow you a fairly stress free weekend! Your porch look great. I love the primitive look!
Do hope that you can calm down your nerves and can relax with your stitching.
Love your decoration at the door.
Will make mine next week.
Stay save and enjoy your weekend
Greetings, Truus from Holland
Your porch always looks great. This is none of my business but didn't Carole question the change in dosage? I hope this gets corrected at the next visit, so you can be less stressed. Have a great weekend.
Good news that part of the mystery has been solved. Please Marly, enjoy the beauty you have created in your home, gaze upon that lovely porch setting that YOU created and turn your sights toward some stitching and relaxation for the weekend. Prayers for this re
encircling you now.
Marly, your porch is beautiful! Sorry about the snow! So far, we've been lucky. But, that can change at any time! I hope Carole's meds are figured out and she feels better. And, that you can relax and enjoy some stitching and your lovely decorations. When your mailman Santa appeared in your header, I went right to the bookcase and pulled the book with the pattern. I have him kitted up and will start it during the holidays. And, maybe by next christmas I'll have my own! I just love yours!

Whew....glad for the update...and a fairly positive one at that... Not that her meds were changed without consultation with her specialits nor that she suffered the ill effects of that ill-advised change in her dosage, but at least it has been somewhat untangled and Carole has some relief...as should you. Every time I see your grapevine tree I love it more. And, yeah...I hear you about the brown corded lights. Our house is brown and I always like having icicle lights along the front eaves...but the white cords stick out like a red-headed stepchild. And green isn't much better. Just another reason to give up decorating me thinks. (Yeah....I do believe I am much crab-assier than you...at least today.) ~Robin~
Marly: I feel so bad for Carole and her problem with breathing my Mother had CHF it was scary for her and the family.
Love your porch so beautiful.
That Twig tree is amazing.
Merry Christmas

I feel the same as Mary V. Would think that Carole would question a change or at least mention it to you. I hope her other meds are working for her.
Love your porch ! So simple and beautiful.
I hope you'll have a happy, uneventful weekend.
Thoughts and prayers.

Glad the issues with Carole's Lasix is sorted. Often doctors reduce dosage because it causes electrolyte imbalance which in turn causes arrhythmias, which in turn reduces cardiac output and then increases congestive heart failure. It is a fine balance. The best way to avoid the spiral is more regular checks of chemistry. Sadly, once CHF has occurred it becomes a long time chronic disease. Hopefully, things will settle.
Hope you are feeling better.
The porch looks great, such a welcoming entry!
My mom is currently in the hospital after a fall in the bathroom. She is fine except for a gash on her head that didn't need stitches and the fact that she can't remember why she fell. Supposedly the cardiologist in this hospital is changing her meds. Her regular cardiologist keeps doing the same thing and then we have to make a trip to the geriatric doctor to get it all straightened out again. Unfortunately, none of them seem to talk to each other as they are with different hospital systems. I hope Carole's med issues get sorted. It is very stressful all around. Hope everything stays calm for a while by you.
Hopefully Carole will get some answers to keep her feeling better.
I just love the porch. Simple yet perfect for the season.
They cut her diuretic by 75%??? Holy crap. So glad you figured out the probable cause of the current issue and that her PCP backed you up!
Your picture feels like it's a warm Indian summer day (I know it's nothing like that!). We've had quite a bit of melting but there's still four to six inches in our yard. *sigh*
Well, that certainly sounds like the problem--glad she happened to mention that when you talked, Marly! Love your sunny back porch--looks like most of the snow has melted. Ours is totally gone... I was hoping that it would last through Christmas--dumb me! :) Enjoy your weekend! ♥
I have congestive heart failure too. I'm complaining about 10mg of Lasix. May as well set up shop in the bathroom. They want me to try 20 but how does one live their life that way? Sorry to complain, but to find another soul struggling helps.
