Wait. No? Whatever. When I don't bitch about snow, you know I'm preoccupied. So here's some boring bunk from a Saturday before it even arrives.
First and most important, my sister is not going to a nursing home as they said. Even though our hospital was still evaluating her files for admission (not even 24 hours), they were telling her to choose another because there was no response from here. Yes there was. To me. She waited a full week for a bed in Cleveland while condition worsened, and they can't hold her another day? Tomorrow at dinner time we will be relieved to have her here, recovering from her failing heart (thank you Clinic), and praying her clots dissolve and do not move. Feeling better today, actually sitting, she said it is excruciating to have her legs hang but after a week of begging, no pain evaluation, no diagnosis. We move on. One day we may find a pain doc locally to help her with what I am 95% sure is CRPS. Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.
As for the elder issue and pain meds, every one of our friends have been livid and dealt with the same issue. Two of my aunts in their 90's without dementia almost overdosed on heart meds, which family corrected by using pharmacies that offer pill packs and that fabulous clock (I need this). Pain med monitoring is necessary, but in cases of quality of life for our seniors, essential.
Anyway, I've been rambling for weeks and never had dryness, fissures, and intense burning to this extent. I had to continually stop and grease my mouth during calls with family and clinic. The inside of my lips are the worst because that's where speech obtains clarity, but when lips dry, don't move, no one can understand you.
This is my tiny phone and without my Penn State nubby (it's what I call them) my fat bent finger that now is a trigger would not be able to get one letter correct. I need more of these.
And homemade mac and cheese. Carole likes some gouda in hers, Chris and Mark cheddar and hot pepper, Ron prefers swiss and white cheddar, Nancy brick and cheddar. I cant't eat anything but diary without salt or pepper so I guess mine is bland. I found that pulverizing Tums and continually dabbing on my tongue does help a little but it's very brief.
I'll be anxious to see what we will be allowed to bring Carole once there. Her coming home this weekend saved me quite a bit of money so I hope to relax and shop online now that it is all settled.
We've been calling companies for so many things and no one is showing up. I hope they have more book learning than the customer and cashier before us that took over ten minutes to count paper and coins. Not for change, for payment. So ticked off I almost told her I would count it and if she needed more I'd give it. But Chris's grandson from Pittsburgh gets confused with money, nor can he write, or spell. So .....
Wishing you all a peaceful evening.

Marly, I am a faithful reader but seldom comment. I hope and pray that both you and Carole's medical situations improve. Sometimes life is just hard. Many of your readers are certainly wishing only the best for you both. Blessings, Sherry B
I just wish this season could show signs of better improvement with not only Carole's health but yours as well. This has been a worrisome year for you and there are so many of us who wish for better news all around. With all your troubles, I'm amazed you can find a bit of solace and hopefully (at times) comfort in doing some stitching. Your work has been wonderful to see and your willingness to share is appreciated by so many of us.
Remember to take care of yourself as you look after your sister. She's so very lucky to have you looking over her.
With my very good wishes for a wonderful Easter holiday with your family,
Jan
Marly I don't know if it good or bad news that Carole is coming home and you are looking after her now you have your own health issues.
Take care of yourself and hope there will be a lot of time for you to relax and do some stitching on your sampler.
A peacefull Easter holiday for you and Mark.
Lots of love, Truus from Holland
It's so hard to deal with health issues but when you have a number of people who are not feeling well and you have to make their life easier, it's that much harder. Thank you for being so good to your family and doing so very much for so many family in need. Wishes for all to have a Blessed Easter and happier and healthier days ahead.
Hugs
Praying for a blessed, uneventful, peaceful Easter Sunday for you and your family. I know Carole will feel better just to be able to be in your home.
Take care of yourself and enjoy your stitching when time allows.
You and Carole have been in my thoughts and prayers constantly.
Hoping that life can level out for you and that your health situations will improve.
Sending love, hugs, prayers, hope and wishes for a blessed Easter.

Consider looking into a whole food plant based diet to help some of the health issues. There are tons of YouTube videos to help get you started. I promise you will start to see results the first week
Good Morning, Easter Blessings to you and your family. Having your sister closer must be a relief. HOpe the transfer goes well. I had a pill station for my MIL. You load it once a week, a little alarm goes off when it is time, the little window opens, tip the disc into the dispenser and pills are taken properly. Well, if they remember to take them after they dispense them. She had dementia and it worked well until the end. I got it on Amazon and she broke several and they replaced it for a minimal charge. It is called "e-pill station" there are others as well, this one is a little pricey but it saved my life! Be well.
I'm glad Carole is a bit better, it's great that she's sitting up considering how sick she was. Cleveland sure does want to shove her out the door. To make room for the next person I suppose, considering how long she had to wait to get in. Still, not nice for Carole though. So now she goes to your house? I have mixed thoughts on that - a combination of relief (she'll be right there and you are in the middle of all the action and information, reducing that misinformation or no information stress), and worry (taking on her care at expense of your own health stresses). I'll be rooting for the local hospital to decide they can do Carole some good with the blood clots and have room to take her in. I'll also be hoping Chris and the rest of her family don't abandon all her care to you.
Mmmm mac & cheese - it looks like cheddar is the one constant in your families preference. I think I need to make a batch after reading those combinations.
(((hugs)))
Marly: I think maybe that is what Carole and you need is to be together, I think the stress on you will be a lot less and for her a wonderful place to be with her family.
I hope they can get rid of her blood clots and get her back to good health.
I do like that you changed the border to a lighter color, I just finished a sampler where I had to change a lot of colors due to so much lite colors, not some pops.
Mac n Cheese is something I cannot eat, wow having to use so many different cheeses, to me that seems like a lot of extra cheese in the fridge.
Have a wonderful weekend
Catherine
Hugs and prayers for both you and Carole.
Try to have a Happy Easter ;-)
GOing back for a few days:
"Because the doctor in CC informed me today that at 82, she is too old to get relief from even Lyrica."
MY mom was taking Lyrica til she was 89. IT did the job til the last 30 or so days of her life . That's when she was placed on hospice. Se had an UTI that went too long before being discovered and it basically did her in (along with her other kidney issues, etc). Why that Dr said it doesn't work on someone 82 is wrong. QUestion some more doctors.
I love those "nubbys" as well. Go to The Dollar Tree and you can get a handful of them for just a dollar each. I have them all over my house and in my purse. They are a Godsend! They are located in the aisle where the electrical stuff is like ear buds and cords for phones etc.
I use those "nubbys" to teach my classes by writing with them on an online whiteboard. All of mine are from a local home improvement company. So sorry there has been so much confusion with Carole and therefore so much mouth discomfort for you. I wish both of you improved health. Margaret is looking good!
It sounds like a good plan for Carole with Dr. Marly at the helm to supervise and monitor, but a note of caution that Dr. Marly not run herself into the ground doing so. Enuff said... you understand my heart. Please take care of yourself, dear one, and may you all give yourselves over to the beauty and blessings of Easter.
