May is half over. Even on the planet I've been on for months. Earth too? Amazing.
EDIT
Thank you so much anonymous!!! The only baby blankets I saw were knit and even with cotton, not smooth enough. But thanks to you I found the muslin!! No sewing, here in a few days. THANK YOU!! Carole said the vintage embroidery would be very nice, may use them for a few pockets on the muslin. Holy crap. My shriveled lip just cracked open. I think I smiled!!!!
So here's the task that needs a prompt solution. Carole will be going to a nursing facility possibly as soon as tomorrow. If no rooms are open, she will be sent back to the transitional unit here they watched her leg rot for weeks. Because of kidney issues after the contrast dye, she will need to return within two weeks for procedures on the right leg. That one may be saved. Pain prevents movement, or sitting with that leg down, and she doesn't want it in view. I'm thinking the fleece or napped material most wheelchair throws are, is as wrong as can be, too warm, and some are quite large. So I decided to rip apart another room searching for the midweight chambray fabric that was once here, or in my imagination, and not to be found. But that search uncovered the vintage tablecloths that were cut up because of stains to be used for do-dad sewing and bags. Cotton and linen, two the perfect size (36" or 40" sq), others could be sewn back in four sections. Pillow cases could be sewn together with seams and edges of colored binding. I'm sure I could locate other small tablecloths, solid or print, no nap to leave lint, lightweight. Does it matter if their intended table cover purpose is obvious? At least until I find an alternative or create a throw, it will have to do. Most cotton fabrics today are too flimsy as a single layer. The vintage cottons and linens have excellent body and I think a much better option.
I've been lugging ten petunias and seven ferns in and out for a week because of this cold weather. Eighties next week, and I will take Carole's to her house for Chris to water. I don't know how, but she expects to be home soon, and she can be once she is approved for home nursing care, and confined to bed. We have a lot of work to do there for accessibility.
Enjoy your day.
Thanks for visiting.

Marly, have you looked at baby blankets that have come out past few years. They are very lightweight muslin, indian type cotton, good sizes and keep babies temp. comfortable. Easy to wash and dry. Petunias beautiful. Continued good wishes to all. May be able to find regular bed size summer bedspreads made of same stuff.
I continue to think of all of you as the days go on and hope for brighter, less burdensome times ahead. You always seem to be able to come up with ideas that solve the ever growing problems and I admire you for that. Those linens are really pretty.
In the meantime, please take care of yourself.
As always, you are taking such good care of Carole. Prayers that a bed will be available at the nursing facility.
Take care of yourself, too.
Still keeping you and Carole in my prayers. I hope a bed is available for her at the nursing facility rather than having to return to the transitional unit. So glad you found what you need to hide her leg.
Take care of yourself.
Hi Marly, I’ve been thinking of you and Carole daily. I hope there is something that can be done to help her. The first comment mentioned baby blankets and that’s a really good idea. I just bought some at Target for my new grand baby who’s expected any day now! They are very lightweight, almost like gauze and come in different designs, but some had just polka dots, etc. and I think you could find some that would work. The package I bought had a gray and pale green one in it! They would be just about the right size, too! Your flowers are beautiful. I’ve been moving mine in and out, too. I have a couple more weeks before I can plant! Take care of yourself and stitch when you have the chance! Cherie in WI
Do hope that there is a bed for Carole and she can stay.
You have been busy with looking for solutions for blankets. Hope you find some baby blankets so you don't have to do the sewing.
Take care of yourself too and hope you will have some time to relax and do some stichting.
Lots of love, Truus from Holland
Hello and thoughts sent your way every day.
Praying for Carole and you.
Life sure isn't an easy task for many of us.
Will be glad to have the warmer weather.
I hope you'll have some time to enjoy your pretty flowers and do some cross stitching.
Take care.
Love and hugs,
Charlotte in Va.
I'm glad anonymous had a good solution for covering Carole's leg. It might be sort of frustrating that she thinks she'll be home soon, but it gives her a goal to work toward. The flowers are gorgeous, and I hope she does get home to see them. (((hugs)))
I like the muslin baby blankets and hope they are just what you need. After the cold weather last week, we finally got the garden planted yesterday - just in time for the rain that hasn't stopped. Continued prayers for you all.
Well, here I am, finally. I did a little "back reading" and am so very sorry my own personal "issues" have meant I have not been here for you when a blog friend should be. As I said, you've been in my heart and thoughts....as has Carole and your fur kids. I am heart sick reading that you have had to say goodbye to sweet Bud, although I guess we knew that had to be the ultimate outcome and rather sooner than later. I am grateful that you were able to be with him and ease his passing.... I know you know he knows he was very well loved....but I am telling you again. HUGS. As for Carole....wow. It sounds as thought she may end up losing at least one of her legs?? Was anyone ever able to give you an explanation of WHY this happened in the first place?? From my readings, it sounds as though as it was a "long story," so don't feel you need to try to reduce it to words. It likely wouldn't make any medical sense to me anyways. I just pray that things take a turn for the better for you and those in your world. At least you have the animation left to buy flowers and/or want to. Not me. After weeks of wondering what slithery things may be hiding under the "dead things" on the back patio I hadn't removed, I spent a week (slowly....I move slowly when it comes to activities involving back kind of things) pulling and sweeping. Now it just looks bare. But I will at least see those slithery things if and/or when I decide to go out "there." Will try to do better keeping up. ~Robin~
I think the name of the fabric that a few are mentioning is not muslin but Cotton Gauze. It really is wonderful and light. People are using it to make nighties, dresses and throws. Easy care as well. Just wash and dry. I love the strawberry pattern and would love to make it. I just recently began stitching again after a break. Enjoying it so much again. Working on my works in progress. The one I am doing is from 1996 and have just a piece to finish that is about 2x3". It feel so good to work on it again. Prays to you and your family.
