Carole seems to be settling into the new room at the SNF. They put her in a regular room so the remaining 40 days of rehab paid by Medicare can be used after her surgery. ...... Wait a minute. When Medicaid takes over, those rehab days will be gone anyway. It took me a full week of phone calls, tearing her house apart, requesting, and copying all the documents to apply, even though her income is half of the poverty level. I haven't worked that hard or done that much research in decades. We visited this morning for the designated hours, with a vanilla iced coffee from McD's and a lousy cheesecake from me. I have no idea why it turned out like mush. Her roomie is 105, there is another lady at 110 down the hall, and 106 off another hall.
The loss of those gowns was not from WW. After six weeks and several inquiries I did receive the credit. And I will never use prepaid labels for returns through a "shipping agent" that I cannot track. The adaptive gowns were for bedridden patients so I can't imagine why they would be snatched, but we know where they disappeared.
Here's a few snaps of this lovely and massive senior community, offering every type of care from stand alone house, to apartment, to assisted, to memory, to rehab, to full skilled. On a hill in the country.
The long hall upon entering to reach elevator to rooms, offering a view of the outdoor patios, fountains, and landscaping the entire length. The amenities, salon, spa, exercise room are all in the area, the outdoor grounds are very large and meticulous, completely encircled by buildings.
The interior is outstanding, divided lite double oak doors throughout, several rooms for small and large parties, comfortable and large gathering rooms for residents, and excellent care.
Enjoy your day.

How heartening to view the lovely surroundings of Carole's residence.. It would help if
she could see it all, as well. Praying that she is covered in skill and compassion there. Hope you and Mark can manage a relaxing weekend. Blessings.
That is quite the facility. Nice that even though she has a double room, there is plenty of privacy.
I hope you can take a moment to breathe!
Oh wow! Finally something positive in your world, and It’s about time!
Wow is all I can say. Please don't take this the wrong way, but I sure as heck hope Carole doesn't have any complaints about her accommodations. My mom worked her butt off her entire life and was just starting to enjoy the benefits of her hard-earned pension when she ended up in assisted living.... After several moves from horrendous places in which she was placed by the state (requiring a great deal of complaining on our end), she finally secured a decent room in a facility about a half hour away. (No exercise room, balconies, porches, etc., but she could turn her wheelchair or walker around in her room and had her own private bathroom and decent by most standards....) Then she fell and ended up in the hospital for a few days, where she was diagnosed with COVID (although she had no symptoms) and when she was discharged, her room was given to someone else and now she is in a sh*#hole room that is so small her wheelchair can barely fit and there are holes in the walls, unremovable gook on the doors, and carpet that looks it has long surpassed its useful life. Sorry for the rant, but some things just suck. ~Robin~
I hope Carole knows how lucky she is having you for a sister. You've gone above and beyond for her and did so even before she became sick, and I hope she appreciates it. You will be rewarded someday. Maybe you can take a little breather knowing she's in a good place.
What a great place to be!!
Never seen such here in the Netherlands or it has to be a private facility and I don't go there -- too expensive!!!
Wishing you both a peacefull weekend and a big hug.

Finally Carole is in a nice facility. That should give you some relief for the next 40 days. I really hope her leg is tended to soon also and that this staff is caring and attentive. Yes the hoops that you have to jump through for Medicaid are unbelievable. Keeping all of you in my thoughts.
Beautiful place that Carole is in. Just wish she could enjoy the view.
She is sooo blessed to have all of your intensive help.
I hope you now have some peace and comfort knowing where she is for some time anyhow.
Take this time to renew, refresh, recoup yourself.
God bless !

Carole's new place looks beautiful, Marly, and I hope she can relax a bit and some of the stress will be relieved--for both of you. I really like the set-up of the room and the fact that there are so many ancient people in residence--they must be taking very good care of them there! I'm behind on reading your blog and just now read about her leg, Marly... my heart goes out to her. You are the very best sister anyone could ask for and I do hope she is thankful. Take care now and I hope you can rest a bit easier now that she's somewhere nice. ♥
Oh, Marly, what a beautiful facility. I am so glad your sister is there. I hope and pray she can get in a wheelchair so she can go out onto the patio and enjoy the day. I am so sad about her leg. To be honest with you, I don't understand all that is going on even though I read your blog daily. She still has both her legs, but one of them will more than likely have to be removed, is that correct? Or is there a possibility it can be saved? I will continue praying for her and I echo Carol's comment above. You are the best sister ever. I hope God watches over you and your family and you can now have a little time for yourself.
Beautiful place for her to regain her strength and health. I hope you are taking care of yourself too.
