Who moved the tree? And how many threads could an old lady count if an old lady could count threads? Too many. I couldn't see the forest for the trees.
Good grief I did it several times and the number to the trunk position doesn't make sense. So do I bulldoze the tree, or start over at the other end, or set the chart aside, or choose something simple and come back to it later?
I'm going to bed.

Oh dear. Is there any way to shift the next tree to the right? Make this one the 2nd tree? Unless someone is holding the chart, or has stitched and memorized it, no one will ever know it differs from the pattern. Besides, how many of the original samplers had their oddities like odd spacings, mismatched borders, things running into borders, etc. If it were me, this would most likely be tossed in the drawer while I have a good sulk and think about it.
Oh no! That's a big tree to have to uproot. My first inclination would be to try and make it work as Gail suggested but I don't think you'd be happy with an such an obvious work around. Darn!
On what count fabric are you stitching Rebecah? Yours is coming along beautifully!
I'd probably frog it and re-stitch it...but I'm pretty anal. Also, an educator, "Do it over till you do it right". If you can play with the rest of the motifs...fudge a little here and there...you might can get away with it. Good luck.
Well???? How about we throw our own private frog party??? I have to rip out everything I did last night...and it had been a productive night of stitching....until I realized I was one thread off when I started the entire motif. Now had I been 2 threads off, I might actually consider leaving it because it would be an entire stitch, but 1 thread would drive me freakin' nuts. Sorry....probably not what you wanted to hear. ~Robin~
As Gail suggested I would leave the tree in place as it is and make it as it had to be in this place.
You are always doing your way with colors and so, well leave it and go on with your stitching.
Take care and stay save, Truus from Holland
It's so funny how different we all handle a "miss" in stitching. I do not stitch a mistake in a repro if I can "fix" it when the miss would be a pain to me each time I looked at it. I tend to see the error instead of the whole picture. However, I'm one who leaves a mistake I make in the piece - makes it mine, as long as I can adjust the remainder of the piece to make it look good and please ME. That's why I stitch-for the joy and pleasure.....
I love Rachel - she's hanging in a small grouping in the next room. Good luck and ENJOY
