More colors

Received two small pieces today and have a few more coming soon, the last of new colors and higher counts.  Hard to realize I only used 28 and 30 for so many years, and now I can't seem to veer away from using one thread and higher counts.

So here's the two new which are very similar, probably interchangeable (unless the batch is different).  The background is the gorgeous Oatmeal (I regret returning the 40 count), the left is Caramel Macchiato and the right is Buttermilk.  Both somewhat green especially compared to the Oatmeal.

We drove back out to the Amish greenhouse and I got three small and the only large bronze left.  Aside from that one, four red were all that remained of the $7 size. They had six $10 size left but they are larger than my whisky barrels.  Many smaller (row behind the house) but still a very nice size offered all colors.  I got yellow and orange to mix with the bronze. Their pumpkins were reasonable and so many varieties and shapes to choose from, but I declined.

These houses are made from the polywood scraps (they make and sell outdoor furniture) and all were $98.

The summer flowers aren't dead yet, but I have looked at this dirt, roots, rocks, weeds, and concrete pieces all summer and I can't take the visual any more.  They (still don't know who "they" are) have written quite a few articles about how clutter in the bedroom gives your brain too much stimulation in processing it all and can affect rest.  I guess that would apply to any room and why I think my collecting addicted brother is so high strung.  Removing the planters and multiple waning blooms in exchange for one focal point, would be good right now.

Bought a few more charts thanks to floss tube and IG, but I am grateful to view what others share.

Hope the week goes well for you.

Sounds like you buy linen the way I buy wool. More than we could ever use in several lifetimes…lol!

That oatmeal is yummy... I forget...whose is that again?? I still can't believe those mums. We have an Amish "greenhouse" several miles from here...As beautiful as theirs are, it is nothing like I am seeing of yours. I am also surprised that yours aren't in full bloom. Most all of ours here are in full bloom... I suppose, though, that ours are given an early start because we generally have early killing frosts....ones that can kill even the mums. This year, however, has been very strange...we have had a couple (maybe 2?) nights of light frost, but no hard freezes yet...even though they had forecast one last week. So, yes...summer blooms are looking strangely well yet...amidst the falling leaves. Just weird. I know I need to pull them out before true Nod weather returns and the ground will be frozen, but it seems a bit like planticide??? But, dang...I'm weary of watering. ~Robin~ (LOVE the birdhouses!!)

I keep thinking I should start garden & flower bed clean up on things that are past their prime. I also know that once we do get killing frost/freeze, we normally still have a few weeks of nice days to work on it. So I put it off and try to keep up with weeding. Besides, birds like the seed heads and the lady bugs and pollinators appreciate the hiding and nesting spots for winter. If clutter and brain (over?) stimulation causes stress, no wonder I get little done in my sewing room because it's easier to sit here, ignore the mess around men, and read blogs. And we'll not discuss the basement and the projects down there that I avoid.

What thread are you using for over one on 32 and higher counts? When I use DMC (single strand) on 32+ the stitching seems quite “crowded” and some times even warps the fabric a bit.

Oh to have an Amish farm so close by... yours looks heavenly. When we were back East,
we were spoiled by their close proximity. We have one here quite a distance away, A
most delightful family having 20 children, same parents, and I wanted to meet the Mrs.
to praise her, but she was at the home of her oldest daughter making peanut brittle for
sale. No plants there. I must say I am disappointed in the quality of DMC and have such
a large inventory, I should use it up and stop purchasing, except the colors are so extensive ... the older supply is more strong and silken and is an eye-opening contrast to what is available today. Can we all agree to blame our inertia on the pandemic ? that
way I can ease my conscience.....Thank you.

Marly: I would like to dye my own fabric but am so afraid I would screw it up somehow.
I love seeing what the Amish goods for sale, they have so many unusual items that you cannot get anywhere else.

I'm right there with you on the 40 ct. with one thread, Marly! I honestly don't enjoy using two threads at all anymore and avoid it if I possibly can. I totally understand the need for no clutter. I don't even mind dust bunnies in the corners as long as my home is tidy to my eyes :) Sounds like the Amish farms may be worth the drive for me!
