One down, two to go

Carole came through the pacemaker switch just fine.  The first slid and was almost completely in her armpit.  The wonderful doctor sewed it shut and anchored the new one so it will not wander.  She's waiting for transport back to the facility.  Last fall there were three years of battery life remaining, and in almost a year, it had depleted to less than six months.  Grateful that the manufacturer found this defect.  What a reunion!  Two nurses that cared for her in transitional care at that hospital could not be more elated to see her again.  Hugs and kisses and extra Lorna Doone's.

I picked up Rachel at 4am, have not stitched for many days.  The very light thread is mostly charted on the petal edges, and not paying attention caused me to switch the symbols.  The gold and light areas are reversed.  But even with 3865, it is not showing as much as expected.  Certainly will not in a thin outline.   White is hardly different from 3865 in comparison but it has more reflective brightness and it does show better.  Not sure of a plan, but not happy with the interior of the flower in 3865.

My yellow tunia is OK, not spectacular, but I did pull it from the barrels and transplant in mid season,  It grew a smidge and became very spindly so I pulled it and stuck into a pot.

But oh my, the ferns are continuing to grow and are spectacular.  The ambulance office has a fantastic large sitting area, mostly glass and leather, and I plan to offer these to them.  Way too big again for my rooms.  I wonder if transplanting into the 12" pots every year is the trick.

And more linen came.  You saw the Hogbristle before but showing the difference in two colors between 36 and 40 count which surprised me.  I saw The Attic video of variations of color between counts but thought it may be because of a different type of fabric.  Nope.  But the 36 and 40 in Country Mocha that I returned were exactly the same, just to confuse the hell out of me.   I did not expect it to be shinier, silky, slippery.  Not my kind of linen, I prefer holding coarse and matte.  The orange selvage stripe doesn't always mean that same texture I guess.  Who knew?  Not me.  The 40 count Cappuccino has the load of green, like you slid it across wet grass, but the 36 does not and is a wonderful neutral.

Have a good day.

So glad Carole came through her surgery well! I am quite surprised by the variations of color based on thread count. I have also been confused by the green in the Cappucino color. Wow.

Happy to see that Carole did well and got good care! Your flowers are so pretty! I’m trying to revive mine after 2 weeks of rain, heat and humidity! I think I’d be sending the green Cappuccino linen back. The other colors are gorgeous! But, it drives me crazy with the difference in color with the over-dyes, whether it be linen or threads! It’s hard to get the same color, twice! Take care.....Cherie in WI

So glad the pacemaker replacement went well. Such a stressful situation with everything else that Carole and the family had to endure. Seeing familiar faces was surely a comfort.

Your petunias, at their worst, are 100% better looking than mine at their best. I am giving up on them, officially. Feel free to remind me next year when the petunia craze hits me.

Your color comparisons are very eye-opening. I expect small variations, but wow, these are significant. My eyesight and my patience are waning and I am probably looking at some nice big Aida! I am sure out of my comfort zone with fine linen.

On that note, Happy September as one thing leads to another, I'm not really sure it is much different than last September. Stay well.

So glad for good 'Carole News!!" I hope this gives her some relief from her pain, etc.
It's always good to be able to have nursing that tends to care for whatever your needs are and it looks like that has finally(!) happened for your sister. Must be a bit of relief for you also with those nurses who remembered her.
I love your stitching and think it must be a bit consoling for you to be able to do it even for a little bit. Don't worry about what shade threads you're using -- just enjoy the little time you've been able to work on something.
Bless you -- and keeping you in my thoughts.

So glad that Carole's switch went well... one more hurdle crossed. Your plants are looking wonderful. I don't believe I have ever seen a fern so healthy and perfectly balanced. You really have a gift with them. Sadly, I didn't get to enjoy even one this year.... I didn't do much plant shopping and none of the few places I went had any. Just as well anyway I suppose as I am over it all. We've had a great deal of rain this year, so watering duty has not been taxing...and I haven't been to the lake, so I haven't had to worry about absenteeism...but I didn't have much enthusiasm to begin with this planting season and what I did have has faded fast. It won't be long before we get frost and freezes so might as well not worry about prolonging the misery. ~Robin~

Have been praying for Carole and you ! So glad the procedure went well.
Your fern is gorgeous. I always transplanted mine into a larger container.
I have a few zinnias blooming, not as many as last year.
Grass is growing by leaps and bounds........sooo much rain.
Take care, wishing you happy stitching.

I'm glad the pacemaker replacement went well, and hope the return ride to the facility was ok also. Your ferns are gorgeous, I never thought to try them outside after killing them off inside so fast. I like the gold outside on that flower, I think it would disappear with that light color on the outside??

So glad to hear that the replacement went well!
Your petunia looks much better than mine-- only the stems are there!
Have some ferns like yours in my garden and they dye back in the winter to come up again in spring.
Any idea to put this one in your garden?
Take care and stay save, Truus from Holland

Great to hear the pacemaker switch went just fine.
I only have one fern...bought at the grocery store...and it is huge, too. Sadly I always throw them away at the end of the season. They are just too dang messy!

I'm so happy to hear about the success of Carole's pacemaker change, Marly. Whew! And doesn't that warm your heart to know she was so missed and warmly welcomed by those nurses. We need happy stories like this in this mess of a world right now--thank you ♥
