Time to flip it

Flip it good.  I stitch in hand and use the rubber spoolies to hold excess linen (after trimming the pointed edge to rounded).  Holding the left side consistently as it grows in size becomes a little clumsy in addition to hand oils touching that same area every day.  So I flip it along with the chart and the excess is no longer an issue.  It's like starting fresh for me.  The stitch pattern doesn't change, the cross is still in the same position as working upright.  I was told a few years that is impossible, so I don't know what to tell you!  I use my same sewing method or full cross and .... no different.

So with the lighter and white floss on the left, even though rolled, I am switching to upside down so I don't handle it as much.

Mark will be gone first of the week for two to three days repairing a camp if he is up to it.  The landscapers never showed as promised, now it will be those same days.  So my quiet alone time of enjoying the weather and relaxing on the swing before stored for winter, won't happen.  The large equipment, dust, and dirt in the air, will certainly prevent and stitching and I don't need to listen to the noise.  So disappointed, but after months waiting, it will be done.  The township will be installing eighty feet of culvert pipe and gravel in the front those same days.  So back and front should be done at the same time and over when we leave for her surgery Thursday.

The hotel is over $60 higher than it was last year for the same room.  I can't believe how quickly prices are rising not to mention the amount.  My coffee?  Not twenty cent increase for the pound bag, over a dollar within a few months.  I will be taking Rachel to work on in the hotel but need a smaller piece while sitting in her room.

I'm going outside to enjoy the warmth now for a short time, the phone never stops.

Have a good day, right side up!

You are such a conscientious stitcher. I am just thankful every time I finish a piece without spilling a glass of Chardonnay on it. (Any guesses why I don't drink red wine??)

On one hand it would be good to have all that noise and work done and finished. On the other, to deal with the noise and mess alone will be a pain. But better than if they don't show up until the day of Carole's surgery. Nope, I'm going with thinking it will all get done as promised, no issues, no questions that you can't handle.

I wonder if that no flipping rule is because of *possible* tension issues, or because people have trouble remembering what way to make their stitches? Maybe those who say not to don't also flip the chart and get lost? I've been stitching with my project rotated 90 degrees and it's been working out. But it was lettering so it wasn't too difficult to decipher where the next stitch went. I had more trouble missing the right hole in the black linen than anything, and that is no matter which direction I'm holding it. I wonder - would cutting some cheap flour sack toweling, or other thin fabric, and rolling it up with the linen work to keep it clean? Or even pinning it around the outside of the roll?

I flip my work too and find it works perfectly. It also gives the brain something new to look at so its a good practice also for when we get tired of stitching the same thing!

I don't work in hand, I have tried and a tension mess always results. I am amazed at your versatility!

Hope it all gets done at once and is over with. What a mess! We will have a couple good weather weeks, I am sure. I have been disrupted for almost a year with kitchen re-do, waiting for appliances, furniture, workmen etc. Husband ready to start another project, I need to find him something to do!!!!

Costs! I cannot believe it. I ran into a young man yesterday at Costco, he was pricing every single item in his cart against local retailers for the same items. He reported to me regularly as we passed in the aisles (don't laugh I always attract people like this) every item was about 3-5% higher from his last stop there and 8-15% higher at local retailers. We found a few items increased by 50%. Seafood, maple syrup, some staples. Something is terribly wrong here. On his last pass, his phone beeped and he reported a notification from his boss that he got a 3% raise. Of course, with inflation at 8% he had more stories to tell. I smiled, stuff was defrosting. Nobody wants a cauliflower crust pizza after it has defrosted!!!

Best wishes for Thursday.

Marly: I have never thought about flipping, I agree there is no difference other then the design is being worked on upside down, thank you for the great idea.
Its getting cool here also, soon the s__w will be flying, its like a cuss word around here.
I hope Mark is back to his old self soon, flu and colds can really do a job on a person this time of year.
I hope you get to be outdoors for at least a little while before the snow flies.
I read about Kroger foods in the EPOCH times that food prices will be rising a good, sad so sad, we are getting hit by all sides.
