Carole had no problems and this wonderful doctor opened two vessels in her leg that everyone else wanted to amputate. I am so grateful to UPMC for looking past the routine standards and going above and beyond. We know it won't last forever but neither will she, and losing two legs at one time was not something she could handle emotionally. I'm home, since I was not allowed in the surgical ward at all and came home after speaking with her doctor. Once I found that out, Mark and Chris waited several hours for me, otherwise would have gone home, sat for thirty minutes, and driven back.
They are scheduling amputation of the left leg above the knee and toes on the right for next Friday. She kept saying she acccepted that outcome months ago, but we knew differently. If she had, it would have been over, healed, and back home early summer. I cannot imagine how traumatic this is for anyone especially our vital young veterans dealing with life altering injuries. Even comparing life with that diseased leg to benefits of life without it, most importantly mobility and better health, isn't making a difference. I just wish they were able to do a below knee rather than mid thigh.
My husband's fever for days that was saturating enough to just about melt the memory foam mattress, is unexplained. Cultures and Covid are negative, and although I suspected Lyme, doctor said without joint issues it is ruled out. OK. The Keflex has been great in getting him back on his feet. Another mystery.
And I gotta say, I don't think I will use that linen but it is GORGEOUS.
Have a great weekend.

So glad that the doctor was able to save that leg. I am happy that Mike didn't have Covid, but having a mystery illness is no fun either. Best wishes to all of you.
I am so glad they were able to help your sister, I am sure that is a big weight from your shoulders. Hope everything goes well. Take care.
So happy to hear that Carole came thru the procedure fine. Now about Mark, glad to hear he remains a medical mystery but then again my hubby says “Dr’s are only practicing medicine and are only 1 of 2 professions that can be wrong 90% of the time but still be employed”. Just so you know, the second one is a meteorologist.
Seriously, now you need to take a calming breath and get some rest for next week’s battles.
Glad to hear the good report on your sister.
Marly, I’m so glad that you found a good and caring Dr. to treat Carole. I can’t imagine how traumatic next weeks surgery is for all of you. And, so glad that Mark didn’t have Covid and is feeling better. It would be nice to have them solve the mystery so you had answers though. Your sampler is looking good and so pretty. A few posts back, I thought you were referring to your yard instead of your sampler, when you titled the post “landscaping”! I was thinking that the new landscaper was a quick worker until it dawned on me that it was the sampler you were landscaping!! Purchasing linen online can be frustrating but there has to be something you can stitch on the gorgeous cornmeal linen. After the week you’ve had I hope you can relax this weekend and do some stitching! Take care......Cherie in WI
So glad things went well for Carole, you all needed some good news for a change. Also happy to hear Mark is recovering from his mystery illness. Have a good weekend!
Glad Mark does not have Covid. Hope he's feeling better. He is a real trouper, that one. So wish Carole didn't have to have a leg amputated. But she is hanging in there and I know you're all happy about that.
What great news and what a relief all went well. The linen reminds me of BOAF Meadowlark. I know it's not oatmeal colored but it sure is nice. I think you should keep it, there's going to be something that will be perfect for it.
Thank God for his favors. Thinking about all of the service men and women who have lost limbs. I, too, wish Carole's surgery could be below the knee........praying for a miracle.
You and your family sure are strong and faithful ! God bless !
Have a comfortable weekend.

That's great news on Carole's procedure! I hope her next surgery goes as planned and on schedule, not the optimal outcome, but I hope once the pains (from the leg and from surgery) are gone, her life greatly improves. It's also good news that Mark is on the mend with no covid. Bummer on having no answer about what he had though.
Marly so glad to hear that Mark don't have covid! Hope the fever will not return and he willbe on his feet again very soon.
Great news about the doctor who saw Carole. Hope she will recover after the operation and surgery of her legs.
Take care and stay save, Truus from Holland
The very first thing that came to mind when you were talking about Carole having trouble accepting the loss of most of her leg was the service people...many so very young...who have sacrificed their limbs and will have to live the rest of their lives with that loss. Still doesn't make it easier to deal with though I know...and I'd likely be kicking (well...maybe not literally) and screaming much more than Carole. If the color in your photos of that linen are true, I can SO seem something Halloween-ish on it!!! ~Robin~
