Mark's fever was quite high and is now 102, blood cultures, possible sepsis, lyme, covid. Here's what really frosts my wide ass. Well... in addition to said ass being so wide. Months ago, we could get a test at almost any pharmacy or hospital, just about any corner. Now we have two. One takes insurance, another is a real problem. We went THREE times after the lab work and may not even get tested tomorrow. You pull up to urgent care, call a phone number and tell them your car color, and it only takes a few minutes if that. The number has a recording that they are too busy and try another day. The parking lot was filled, kids running around, people sitting in hot cars, and I am furious. Don't preach your bullshit when you took away all those tests. Don't criticize people like myself and neighbor that got an autoimmune from a vaccine, or friends that have cancer and no immune system, and others like us that are advised by more than one doctor that it may destroy your body. NOT because of the vaccine (which I would get in a minute if I could) but because of our immune system's reaction. And why are we not told about the drugs and treatments that can prevent hospitalization or severe illness? What are they? Where are they? Not here. I would have to drive a few hours to get any of them and I want to know why tests and especially treatments that save lives and limit damage are not available everywhere? Since at least 25% of hospitalized are vaxed, and so many of our friends fully vaxed have carried and spread it with mild symptoms, wouldn't treatments be as important if not more so? If you can still get a less severe case and unknowingly spread it after two shots, testing and early treatment would be a better option and create your own antibodies. I don't get it. I'm sorry to rant but dammit, we need to take her to Pittsburgh and need tested. I do not believe that's why he is ill, but if he is not better or can transmit I need to hire someone to drive me back and forth. Maybe I'm ticked because I'm exhausted. No. Wait a minute. I ticked because this situation is focused on one aspect and not taking in all the options for us.
And then there's that wide ass.

I agree with you 100%
Also, my friend Steve was in the hospital last month for two weeks, very ill with Covid. He was vaccinated.
My childhood friend Angie was admitted to the hospital Saturday afternoon with Covid. Also vaccinated.
I hope Mark feels better soon.
Marly I feel the same as you! I live in another country but it is the same here. Sometimes I ask myself why they vaccinate and are still ill or can give covid to other people. It looks like the flu-- you can give it to other people. Here the goverment wants you to have vaccinated and having a document to show when you are visiting the cinema or horeca. So people as you and me who are not vaccinated can go anywhere.
Sending prayers for healing Mark soon without having covid and there will be very soon a solution to your problems.
Big hug,Truus from Holland
I am concerned for him. As I commented yesterday, I had Sepsis in Feb and you don't want to mess around with it. I was admitted to the hospital via ER and triaged. Was in hospital for a total 9 days. It took a few days to pin it all down but in the meantime they were pumping me full of meds. I am surprised the doctor didn't suggest that. The ER will do covid test as well.
Wishing you the best.
Prayers for Mark. I'm on your side, not vaccinated because it doesn't work. So many fully vaccinated are dying. A friend lost her son last week in his 30's again vaccinated. If Dr Malone says don't take it then don't. Since it is getting so bad why are they still allowing all these baseball and football games where no one has a mask. Let's see the numbers next week after all the people at the Penn State game. Good luck, hope all turns out better for you. Prayers coming your way.
Rant away, Marly! In Iowa, once again a private citizen had to step up and create a way for people to find available testing. This is after another private citizen had to do similar to find available vaccination appointments last spring. The only unvaccinated that I take issue with is those refusing vaccine, believing outrageous untrue lies spread based on politics & ignorance, not science. As with any vaccine, there will always be those who can't/shouldn't be vaccinated because of valid medical reasons. Why no real news on treatments? I suspect it's much more difficult to come up with that due to varying symptoms and intensity of infections, than it is to develop a vaccine which has one thing to do - prepare the immune system for battle.
Why vaccinate if you can still get it or pass it on? Because it greatly reduces the chances getting sick enough to end up in the hospital. Not eliminate - greatly reduce. If you are crossing a highway, do you want to be hit by a fully loaded dump truck going 60 mph, or a bicycle pedaled by a small child? For the same reason many people get the flu shots every year - even if they miss the right mix in the vaccine, you probably won't get as sick if you do come down with it.
I hope Mark and you get some answers on what he's dealing with and they don't wrongly narrow their focus too soon. And that it doesn't goof up your and Carole's ability to get your own appointments taken care of. I know you don't need the expense, but hiring a driver might help Mark by taking that task off his mind? Hope he's feeling better very soon... (((hugs)))
Rant away, you are more than justified. In this day and age, after all of the advances supposedly made during this covid mess, you have to deal with this. I wish I were closer, I would take you to my big city in a minute.
There are no easy answers to this complicated disease. But the treatment, as early as possible is essential.
My uncle, 90 years old, had a serious "flu" in 2019 they insisted was not Covid. He has had multiple issues since then. He passed this morning.
I hope you get some answers, soon.
I'll pray for you, Mark and Carole. I know vaccinations doesn't stop the transmission of the disease but they say you'll have less severe symptoms. I think it depends on your health status to begin with. I'm high risk for several reasons. I've had flu shots since I got a lung ailment in my 20's and never had the flu until the year "they" didn't include the strain that went around. My first & hopefully only bout with the flu. It was wicked. Just watched an old video from 1976 about the swine flu. I don't remember that-I would have been about 19 years old. I first heard about it during Obama's admin because he wanted it called H1N1. Anyway some people came down with Guillain-Barre in 1976 after being vaccinated and one lady they talked to said she was never warned, never heard of it or would have asked what it was and she came down with it.It was a 60 minutes interview with Mike Wallace and he was interviewing the head of the CDC who said he didn't know to many of Mike's questions. I took the Covaid vaccines but some days I wonder if I did the right thing-I feel like I'm gambling with my health/life. I don't want to be a nay-sayer and I don't feel right promoting it since it wasn't thoroughly tested like other vaccines so I leave it to each person. I continue wearing a mask properly, using Purell, and praying because that's what I've done so far to avoid getting Covaid. I'm now fully vaccinated since July 1st with no known side effects/ailments so hopefully I'll be alright. I'm not judging anyone's decision though because vaccines as you well know is not "one fits all", some people shouldn't get vaccines. My dog had cancer many years ago and her cancer doctor told us not to get her vaccinated because her immune system was compromised. I had to send a letter from her doctor to the county explaining she should not be vaccinated because they were sending me threatening letters even when I told them why. Thankfully they left me alone after the doctor wrote a letter.
Marly dear, Prayers intensified for you, Mark and Carole during this stressful ordeal.
Perhaps an ER visit might ameliorate your dilemma about Mark,as suggested. Your frustration and ire are more than justified. So many are under such pressure these days
that people who otherwise would be understanding and cooperative, are impatient from being worn down. I hope things fall into order for you and that in one step at a time you can resolve and overcome. Blessings ~
If we only knew what to believe about the vaccine. Biden, Fauci, et all, say "follow the science". The Cleveland Clinic and an Israeli study by Johns Hopkins, I think it was, says if you have had Covid, you DO NOT need to be vaccinated. Why is that "science" being ignored? I guess it just doesn't fit the agenda. Am I cynical? Hell yes.
A few weeks ago I had to get tested. I arrived early in the morning and was given an appointment 4 hours later. Unfortunately there are way too many people who could be vaccinated (unlike yourself) who just aren't and also aren't taking any precautions. The urgent care told me that I probably didn't need the test as I was vaccinated and didn't have the classic symptoms, but my son was coming to visit and I wasn't feeling well. I am so very sorry that you are having such a hard time getting a test for Mike. I hope he feels better soon and you can go to Carole's appointment.
Sorry to say, but there are many studies showing that hospitalizations among the vaccinated are way above the 25% you indicated....and if you have the time and patience to wade through them, many (respected) studies that show that the new variants are actually the result of the vaccine. I will not judge anyone for their choices, but I would ask for the same consideration in return.... I have two serious autoimmune diseases for which I take injections that suppress my immune system and even the CDC website indicates there are no studies regarding the effect of the vaccine on immune compromised individuals... The vaccine messes with one's immune response and I am not willing to be a subject in a test vaccine. Moreover, I truly believe I already had COVID...and, again, some (reliable) studies indicate it is harmful to have the vaccine if you have already have had the disease. (Not even going to the reasoning behind why anyone would even want to require vaccination of those who have natural immunities.) And don't even get me started on the suppression of info about early preventative medications that are being not only banned, but even prohibited by new hospital protocols. There is just so much we DON'T know about any of this and preventing an honest, open, discussion and censoring of information is not helping us move in the right direction. In any event, I hope and pray Mark (and you!) recover from whatever it is that it is. And sorry for the loss of your cousin. ~Robin~
