Holy crap. Krista commented on my Rachel photo on Instagram and mentioned the rice stitch. ??? Did she decide to do rice on her own or am I that arrogant and oblivious to instructions? The latter of course. Not only is the very large central flower rice stitch, the dividing band above it is also. Why would that band be in rice you would wonder. Because the three rows of large alpha above it should be dipstick!! Part eyelet, part rice, and nary one in sight. Dammit.
Each graph square has a symbol, and usually a large specialty stitch symbol covers all four squares or has a different symbol. But that's my fault entirely for not reading the chart. I could excuse my lack of attention to a covid fog but I did the alpha before that happened. And we're past the menomania. Well, not completely. I still use that defense for acquittal and sympathy while wiping my forehead from a not as hot as they used to be flash. And thanks to masking, my face is always a little damp so it's still believable.
But not with this flub. Does it matter? Unless very close to the stitching to study, rice is not as obvious in alphabets.... to me. Eyelet? More obvious. Basic cross stitch? Good enough. But that central flower is already completed with three colors, and I believe it would be a nice feature in rice stitch. Do I want to remove and do over?
Give me a minute to wipe my forehead.

Marly: I think you are a very bright Lady and know what you are doing, if someone makes a big deal tell them its your project not theirs.
Why are some people have to be so arrogant.

Marly, it’s beautiful just as it is. No one would know if you don’t tell and it’ll be our secret!!

Oy..... I don't recall ever doing a rice stitch, so I looked it up....it gives me a headache LOL. Eyelet I get...and like...unless it's unnoticeable...then it ticks me off. (Doesn't take much these days.) Part of me says leave it be...and pat yourself on the back for "customizing" it. The other part says "yeah...rip out that daisy flower and redo it in the rice stitch"....just because I want to see what it really looks like LOL. Dontcha just hate it when someone rains on your parade? Especially when the cloudburst is unintentional??? ~Robin~
Your sampler looks good to me as it is now. So why would you change it?
I often do the sampler in my way when I don't like the recommanded stitch or color...lol
Take care and stay save, Truus from Holland
No way. Not worth ripping out Marly. Life it too short. How was that zucchini cake?
I wouldn't rip anything out. It looks good the way it is!
Having read some of your past entries talking about linens and their unpredictable colors or patterns, watch Colorado Cross Stitcher on Youtube #18 about 45 minutes into the program. She discusses the types of linens being made today that are available in her store: the solid classic colors, the printed fabrics, and the mottled linens. I found it interesting and hope you do too. I totally understand this mistake. I have been working on Christmas ornaments all in the same magazine a page apart. One has a stitch with a symbol that is a Smyrna cross. Another has the exact same symbol, but it is for an eyelet stitch. Needless to say, I mixed them up on one of the ornaments.
