Hi folks. I call on you for your help again with Rachel. The called for house color is 420. Nice.
For some additional pop as all houses offer in samplers, I am trying two very muted choices. One of my favorites, 632.
It's odd how the 3860 of the grapes in the DMC color book look so brown and yet a very soft magenta when stitched. Never would have thought it could take on that hue, but glad you chose it for me.
I am not taking this project to Pittsburgh. I could work on it at the hotel in the evening but I doubt I will be able to focus so a small and easy project will go with me. For the next few days I will be still searching and undecided about health care. I would gladly keep my supplement if drugs were affordable. Correction - if seniors were given the benefits of others. I checked Biden's plan for negotiating senior drugs, but it is for no more than ten the first year and will not be in effect until several years from now. The courts allowed Eliquis to hold off the approved generic until 2026, about the same time this plan would go into effect. No way to know out of tens of thousands if my drugs would be the ones negotiated, or how much lower the price would be. Decision time once again.
I am embarrassed by my mention of finances and deeply touched by a reader that sent me a generous gift to purchase stitching supplies. Stunned. This gifter is anonymous so the only way to offer my thanks is here. You have uplifted me with your kindness and generosity, sorely needed as I try to console my sister and accept this before her surgery. Thank you so very much.
Enjoy the weekend.
I will be dealing with old light strings that croaked, and new LED "warm white" in various lengths that are as color reliable as linens. One is pure white, one is slightly green, one is pinkish, one is apricot. Vastly different. Returning all and ordering one brand only. Or throwing it all out the window.
Yesterday it was heavily overcast allowing me to drive!!! YAY!

I really like the 420. It seems that the hue of the other options might tie the house more with the grapes and keep the focus mostly on the perimeter of the sampler and the 420 seems like it might tie it to the letters better so the eye might travel more evenly over the sampler. Just a thought. If you decide to do a photoshop mock-up please share it.
We're having the same trouble with "warm" LED lights. We normally have six strands of incandescent Edison bulbs over a Peanuts christmas tree lot in our front yard but those lights alone raise our bill about $300. We thought we'd go with warm LED lights and it's looking bad. My husband is out there trying to work on them right now. We might have to keep the incandescent ones up until we find something that doesn't look odd.
I like the 420. I think it will be a great foil for the mauve in the grapes. I totally understand your "warm" light dilemma. We get all of ours from ACE Hardware and they seem to be the same even over several years.
Have you looked into the Eliquis Patient Assistance Program? As a pharmacist (now retired), I helped patients many times to enroll.
Also, it sounds like you need a really good Medicare advisor. Times running out, but mine took the name of all my meds and found me the Part D program that best fit my budget.
Marly: Rachel really is a lovely design, I am liking the 420 myself.
Its a shame how seniors are getting kicked in the butt, anyone else gets any kind of health care they want but not seniors who have worked for it.
We went to an independent insurance broker, he has several plans to choose from, it really helped.
I hope you post a photo or two of your small project that you will be working on.
I hope you have safe travels.
Merry Christmas
Catherine
Well?????? My immediate reaction (before reading your entire post or seeing the other colors) was 420... But then 3858 really caught my eye. I was about to give my vote to 3858 but went back and looked at the sampler as a whole as you're working it, and I came back to 420. (Yeah...my brain wears me out too - sorry.) I don't know how you can work on anything in a hotel room. I have to have my magnifier light...4.0 readers alone don't cut it. Not that I spend any time in hotels anymore. Don't get me started on drug costs for people on medicare...crazy nuts and we researched and pay for top of the line additional insurance. Insulin alone is $140. And REALLY don't get me started on the d*$# Christmas lights. I am not doing much for Christmas again this year...but (somehow) the person who was previously commissioned to put up the outdoor lights was not canceled and so we have those again...well, PART of those.... And that's all I'm gonna say about that. ~Robin~
Your attention to detail always inspires me to be more purposeful in my little projects. I have recently taken projects to waiting rooms and did not one thing, so last week I took one book to read, even that was sort of a bust, hard to concentrate.
I still cannot believe that we are so stressed with drug coverage issues in this country. I do understand. Until the last few months (excuse my need to talk money here but) we were paying 1200/month for just one of husband's medications. The others put him in the proverbial donut hole, and we were spending essentially our entire income per month for medications. For the first time we researched his veteran's benefits and discovered that most of his medications would be partially covered. It has been a life saver. My sister is also on Eliquis and shares your same concerns.
Best wishes for the days ahead, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
I think I'd go for a darker shade of the grape colour, so from the choices you have shown, 3858. I had to go back and look at the sampler as a whole to see what would tone.
I have a supplement and will keep it as I just had my second bout of stomach cancer this summer. I need the flexibility of that plan although it is expensive. My prescription plan is through Mutual of Omaha. The prescriptions are filled by Express Scripts.
This year the price went from $24 a month to $35 a month however I only pay for one medication, six dollars for gabapentin. So I think that's a good plan. Hopefully you can get your insurance to cover what you need and add as much and affordable price as there is. I know it cost a lot. Hope you find something that works for you.
Oops..don't know why "add as much" showed up in my comment..
I just love the 420 color choice for the house!
Best wishes to you as your navigate for medical coverage. I'm blessed with good coverage as a retiree from my state.
