Unfortunately, the cookie recipe for it cannot be located so I have a jar just sitting in the cupboard, all alone. It does not get along with the peanut butter. Since I am responsible for bringing it here and its loneliness, I have no choice but to console it. One of the main reasons that the flowers on my leggings are becoming shrubs.
My husband thought it would be a good day for a quick trip to Hobby Lobby since I've mentioned it 1000 times in the last year. Late to the party for Christmas items but can't pass up a clearance sale either.
And clear it was.
I bought a few Tim Holtz ephemera items at 40% off, and spotted a scrawny tree in one of ravaged aisles. Mark insisted we get it because he knows me well enough, and said I will regret not doing so. So glad he picked it while I stood at the checkout. Ten bucks. Sweet!! My choices are to be gifts from nephews so I
saved them some bucks.
Not much time to work on Sprig, but after being pleased with the spool's satin stitch, I caught the threads on the back somehow and they pulled enough to distort and stretch the linen. Boogies from then on. So I steamed the linen where it stretched and backstitched the outline one thread in from the edge. This sort of supported my railroaded satin and I'm pleased with the result. Finally. Time to move on.

Very cute tree and what a deal! I’m sorry to hear Carole is struggling today.
Wow, that's some clearance, and I'm not talking about prices. I'm not a fan of satin stitch, hard to get smooth and easy to snag. But there's times when nothing else will do, like stitching spools of thread. Had you not said anything, I would not know of the oops with snagging. Well done on the repair!
Sorry Carole is sick, maybe that's part of the reason she's been so difficult(?) about going to your house for Christmas?
I just love that scrawny tree ;-)
Yet again...hugs and prayers for Carole. Hopefully soon she will not need them.
Boy, that pattern is pretty. The satin stitch spool really makes it.
I can't bring myself to patronize Hobby Lobby but a deep Christmas sale is pretty inspiring. Sometimes I think I get more creative with the 50-cent leftovers that with the full shelves. My daughter's winter job is at a German store here and she introduced me to Milka, which I think tastes even better than Nutella but is pricy and the jar is thick glass so you think you're getting more than you actually are. I'm going to appall the Germans and make pffernusse but with a divot in them that I fill with Milka.
Well, that jar of Nutrella would likely shrivel right up from loneliness in my house. I tried it only once and it was not love at first taste. But that was years and years ago and we all know tastes can change, no? Wow...those HL shelves look a bit like the pet food aisles at Menard's...which creates quite a conundrum when you have fussy pets, the foods they will and can eat are only available in limited markets and we have few options here. I am not sure I could buy a tree as a gift as I would end up keeping it. I hoard trees almost as ravenously as I do pumpkins. Ok...don't tell Carole what I said to tell her last night. Just tell her I hope she feels better soon. And hugs from Nod... ~Robin~
I really like the tree in the first photo, where ever did you find it I have looked for years for one like thta.
I totally love the new tree, sweet looking and for just 10.00, you found a treasure.
I think your spool looks wonderful.
I cannot even have Nutrells in the house it would go on everything includoing pancakes which I would have to make a batch of and of course eat them all by myself.
As for peanut butter I even like it on my eggs.
Merry Christmas
Catherine
