She deserves it after how often I pulled at her. I have to stitch Pineberry's A Sprig of Holly. Downloaded and printed, the chart is a delight to see with it's large format and very clear graph/symbols. Then NFF's Santa Folk will be attempted. One of my favorite free Christmas charts is from Pineberry, Ho Ho Ho (here).
I scrubbed my new box with Lestoil and then citrus cleaner, layers of dirt and oil removed.
Then Danish oiled and it's wonderful.
Why doesn't Blogger allow photos to be posted laterally?
Petey is still enjoying his heated house.
And this is Nit's favorite napping and viewing spot.
Not sure if I will add lights to the pine four foot tree, I haven't located my short grapevine to add to the group. I used baskets to hide the bottoms.
Made a trip to the Italian store for my favorite five pound tub of ricotta for shells and manicotti, they were closed. I don't know if Carole will be able to be transported in two weeks for a Christmas day visit, day by day is the only hint. Even if she is able, no ramps and narrow steps with iron railing may prevent it but we're working on it. And here's another silly idea of mine, I even searched online for it. With one leg cut so high, I thought there may be a garment (pants) that would have a heavier lining to allow the person to feel more balanced, and even a padded lining to give the pant leg some body. Silly isn't it?
Errands the next few days, groceries, shopping, many phone calls which no one returns, and enjoying a snowless week.
Have a pleasant day folks, as much as we can with heavy hearts for victims.

Merry Christmas marly: I do not think it is a bad idea about having a pant leg that is weighted, my Father had his healthcare worker add a little fabric to the bottom of the hem about three inch's up.
I do hope Carole will be able to get out for a day or more.
Nice new design, I think it is adorable.
Oh my I am a bit jealous, that box is amazing.
Love your trees to bits.
Poor Petey, I wish he could join you all indoors, lucky for him you are a very generous Lady to give him a heated home.
Merry Christmas
Catherine
Sounds like you should invent something like that for your sister! :-)
I meant to mention the other day how elegant in its simplicity your clustered setting of small trees is. Just love your arrangement. Do hope Carole will be with you all for
Christmastide. May you and Mark be greatly blessed and rejuvenated for your devotion to
her and her family. I like your idea of a "padded" lining to adapt her slacks. You are
something else wonderful....
Love how your mind works! That is a great idea for Carole's pants. If there is nothing out there--maybe you can invent it. If anyone can, you can! Have always loved that little Pineberry freebie fellow--not sure why I haven't stitched him yet.
Love how your box turned out--just perfect! ♥
Whoa....that's a lotta ricotta! 🤣 Sorry...You knew someone had to do it so it might as well be me LOL. Argh...there are so many fun Christmas stitches out there that are on my "wanna-do" list. I seriously doubt I will even finish my hooked Santa before Christmas though. I think if I manage to come close, I will finish the hooking on it (probably not the binding) and then do a bit of Christmas stitching in January. If no one says anything, I likely won't even notice the difference. I'm at a loss as to suggestions for Carole. I've only personally known 2 people who had suffered the loss of a leg. One was a friend of my father's who had both legs severed quite high up when some cable snapped on a naval landing deck he was assigned to. The other was a little girl in my Sunday school class I taught (yes, believe it). Some day I will have to share a very funny story about that little girl. It still cracks me up thinking of it. ~Robin~
You are spot on with the idea of weighting a pant leg. In couture sewing, in Chanel jackets actually, a litle chain is sewn into the interfacing between the layers of hand quilting. Those little chains used to be available in places like Joanns where drapery hardware is sold. I will be heading there on Friday, I'll let you know if they have anything like that. For jacket points, in the front we often sewed pennies in the corners. We covered the penny with some muslin, cut a circle, draw it up like a yo-yo, then stitch it in. Just a thought.
How many shells are you making? Are you making cheesecakes? You are going to be busy.
I like the idea of putting the trees in baskets, great idea!
Be careful not to over do!
I love that Ho, Ho, Ho. (Remind you of anyone...lol?) I know I have it printed off but of course not stitched.
Your new old box looks great. Is a tree going in it?
Hopefully Carole can join you on Christmas Day.
I have no idea if the weighted pants leg would work. I do notice as I sit in the chair reading blogs and doing some paperwork, that it's not so much the weight, as having something to push against, or lean on as I move to reach things. Five pounds of ricotta sounds like a lot, but if you are making a big batch for family over for Christmas or to have some made up in the freezer, it's not so much. Bummer that the store was closed. I hope Carole is able to get there for Christmas. I am a bit worried though, it's not just getting her into the house, but what about once inside? Like the bathroom? I hope I'm not throwing a soggy towel on the plans - I'd hate for her to get there only to have to turn right around and leave.
Thank you for the link to the Ho Ho Ho pattern, I've saved it off, maybe it will be done for next year.
Your box turnen out so well--it looks great!
Are there veterans in your neighbourhood who had lost their leg and perhaps they can tell you how to get such a pant.
Marly you are always thinking of other people instead of yourself.
Please take time for yourself and be carefull of yourself.
Love Petey's house--he is sitting there comfortly!
Sending healing prayers and lots of love to you, Truus from Holland
I wear the L.L. Bean flannel lined jeans all through our Mn winter. They might have something that will work. I know other company's have them too. Duluth Pack but they are spendy and don't have good sales. L.L. Bean just had 40% off and free shipping. Good luck. Hugs.
