Boom. Part 3

Well.  It's snowing again. But we made it home from Carole's appointment before the roads were too bad.  I had to leave the exam room. Needless to say, that incision/wound is worse that two weeks ago, six weeks after surgery.  They had no injectable lidocaine or numbing topicals and I told them to search the building.  It's quite large but outpatient surgery is down the hall, and you have no lidocaine?  Both nurses were wonderful and after a trip upstairs, came back with 2.5% cream. My eyebrow tattoos were done with 5%.  The scalpel and debridement was done across the entire leg, deep and wide.   Stitches removed but they never closed the wound initially and there is a wide recess.  Her shrinker and preparation for the prosthetic is delayed another (at least) month and she will be seen every week by the surgeon.  They aren't happy with the result after how well her other leg healed, but concern is not serious yet.  Well it is for me!

I woke Rachel for a word or two at times, and yesterday went better than expected so I continued on.  Placement is off in several places, not that noticeable, and don't give a horse's hoof.   The focal points are the grapes and large rice stitched center for me, not the over one.

I saved a few white areas for last to prevent soiling from handling, but the large blue flower on the right side needs corrected first.  I thought it was good but after filling with white edges, nope.  Easy fix.  But that beast will attack me again.  If I did the 310 outline first it may help, counting these tiny stitches and numerous rows is very difficult.  Letters are much easier than a massive blob.  Rachel will nap again until I decide, but at least three problem areas are completed.  None of the cows in my charts are size or appearance appropriate.

Just checked radar, snow until 9pm.

Yippee ki yay.

Stay safe everyone.

I don't know whether or not you intended it, but your post made me smile. I am sorry that Carole's leg isn't healing as well or as quickly as the first. Rachel is looking good and at least you have worked on her again. Take care.

Yay! So glad you and Rach made up (I feel I can call her that term of endearment as I feel like I really have gotten to know her LOL). I don't recall was what the charted "beast" looks like or where it goes, so I will be anxious for Rach to wake from her nap. Seeing/hearing the issues with Carole's healing would be worrisome to me as well. I am trying hard to will away the visual. Prayers and crossing of fingers for drastic improvement and soon. Stay warm...and be safe in that white stuff. We have woke to several inches of "flurries" the past several mornings but we are now back in the deep freeze...you know, when it's too cold to snow....or to care even if it does. ~Robin~

Hoping your weather is at least tolerable Marly! And sorry Carole's leg is not healing as well as hoped/expected. That would definitely be a concern for me. I have been feeling sluggish and lazy. It may be time to hibernate....

I'm so happy and proud of you to take the bull by the horns (even though you can't find a bull/cow with the right dimentions to fill the empty spot) and worked a bit on Rachael. If you can't or don't want to fill that spot with a cow as charted, why not "plant" some various sized flowers in that space and call it a day? If I come to something I have problems with, I change things.

Thinking of you and hope Carole's leg heals properly. Just more worries and concerns to fill your hours.

As to your previous message to Anonymous, you went beyond what that person deserved with your kind explanation of the care and reasons for taking care of a feral cat. Makes one wonder how that person cares for any living individual or animal. 'Nuf said!

Marly, I’m so sorry that Carole’s leg isn’t healing as expected. Hopefully, they can get that on the right path soon. My mom had ankle surgery that took forever to heal and you have every reason to be concerned. I’m was so happy to see that Rachel was back! She’s looking good and any mistakes in her aren’t noticeable to my eye! I can’t remember what “the beast” looks like either, but it looks like you’re close to a finish. Glad to see that you put Anon in his/her place. What the heck?? We’re in the deep freeze here but it beats a huge snowstorm! I can handle a few inches here and there! And, each passing day is one day closer to spring! Hang in there! Cherie in WI

Praying for healing of Carole's leg with no infection. So glad you're on top of the situation as per usual.
Be careful in the snow. Less than 60 days til Spring. Looking forward to a balmy 72 degree day.
Thoughts and prayers !

Prayers continue that Carole is able to improve each day. I know that your caring and love makes each day a better and easier day for her.

Ouch! Reading about Carole's leg gave my leg a twitch. I hope it starts healing soon. Yes, I've seen where medications are also having supply issues. I can deal with an empty spot on the store shelf where my preferred item should be. But dang, medications that aren't available... That royally stinks.

I'm glad you are working on Rachel bits at a time. You're probably tired of my reminders that once finished, no one is going to know it's not precisely like the pattern. Done better than perfect, as quilters say, and all that. I hope you get the cow situation settled.

Sadly, healing issues are not uncommon with this surgery. So frustrating. And frightening. There are always mitigating factors. I hope and pray that her journey will soon improve with weekly checks by the surgeon.

Glad you are giving Rachel another try. Maybe a little break was all you needed.

Snowing here again too. Oh well, January in W. Pa. what do we expect?

Hi Marly: She really is a pretty design, I am looking forward to seeing this one framed.
You always have such lovely designs to stitch.
I am so sorry about Caroles leg problem, I hope they can get it right next time, you would think thy would have had the lidocaine in the room before she arrived for her appointment.
Thinking of you both

Marly: I had to read Anonymous's comment, surely an air head, can that person does not see what you have done for a feral, cat that seems to not want to get along with other cats, it's a shame that that person cannot leave things alone.
I do not let anonymous comments, they just bug people on prepose.
You are an amazing lady who cares about animals.
Thank-you for that.

I would have had to leave the exam room, too, Marly--just reading your description makes me weak kneed. I have no stomach at all for anything having to do with medicine (and yet I come from a long line of doctors-ha!). Anyway, I sure hope that the weekly visits will get things more on track. Glad you managed to get home before the roads got too bad, too. Looks like we're in for more snow on Friday. What a month January has been!

Rachel is so, so pretty--hope she behaves herself from now on! Take care now ♥

Reading about Carole's appointment brought back memories of my mom going through wound treatment. She had treatment on her right leg first for 4 months and leaving the office after being discharged, she fell again and had to go for 4 more months of treatment of her left leg. As her caregiver, I sat in on every one of those appointments. They only used 2.5% lidocaine gel, but sometimes they were out of it and didn't use anything. Makes me cringe just remembering those appointments. That process of scraping and debriding is painful, but necessary. One thing we learned is that each limb can heal differently than the other. My mom's doctors also said a diet high in protein helps with the healing. Prayers for Carole's healing.
