Looking back

Have you looked back to see all the projects you've completed in 2021?  Of course I can't recall, my mind has been mush for some time now.  My only dated records are my blog posts, but reviewing the last twelve months brought back more than I expected.  The crisis of Carole's near death and CICU weeks in Cleveland, without visitation and the hospital not communicating her condition (they had the wrong phone number), was pushed further back with every appointment, various hospitals, nursing home, procedures, surgeries, amputations over ten months.  And at the beginning of this, completely buried, was my new doctor's office telling me I had five years to live and fighting to see a specialist.  Taking charge for myself, finding out from a different medical group that their improper diagnosis was unethical to say the least.  Good grief.  No wonder I've had a stressful year.

I found the misalignment in Rachel's right border which threw the bottom portion off by two stitches.  I was desperate, and wondered if comparing the two sides visually rather than counting the twisting vines would help.  Bingo!  Aligned right side to left side and pinned, I focused on one of the leaves that did not reach the outline to one that did, and it became obvious.  I studied the stitches and found it which caused all beneath to be off also. That large and showy part of the sampler would be obvious if not the same because of the outline. The only way to align is to remove and stitch the offending leaves after extending the stem or vine.

I can't get rid of this heartburn.  Wedge pillow for a few nights!  Surprisingly, my lower back which is miserable during the night and early morning, is much better when sleeping on it.  Chiropractor said it makes sense, and sleeping with a pillow under thighs to raise your knees helps also.

Surgeon visit tomorrow.  He sees patients two days a month at a closer UPMC hospital so that cut our travel time by 45 minutes.

First Monday of the year tomorrow, creeping closer to summer.  We need to get rid of the $5 phones because 3G cutoff is rapidly approaching.  And it's snowing so I guess hub is not golfing today.

Have a safe one!

Thank goodness 2021 is over for you, Marly. I really can't imagine how you came through it with your sense of humor and big heart still intact. You are one strong woman...

I've been missing in action as my grandson and his parents were here for two weeks (and I'm about ready to fly to a beach somewhere to rest up!). I just read your latest posts and am so glad Carole was able to come home for a bit even if it tired her out. I'm sure it did all of your hearts good. Your meal sounds delicious and I will definitely try the Polly-O next time!

Glad you found the error and will fix it. I haven't picked up a needle in two weeks and I'm missing it dreadfully. After the laundry/cleaning is done today, I'm spending the entire next week in my stitching chair :)

I'm wishing you and Mark and Carole and crew all the best in 2022--you certainly deserve it. ♥

Now that is perseverance. Happy your efforts gave you some answers as to why you were off.
Here's to a less stressful 2022 for you. You deserve a break and then some.
Happy New Year ;-)

Whew....one frustrating, vexing, "issue" taken care of. Well, not exactly "taken care of" until the frogging/restitching is done, but a relief, nonetheless, to have the problem identified. That stuff bugs the crap out of me and lurks in the back of my head like a boogeyman under the bed. You've been through a lot this year - I doubt I would have had the nerve to go back through things that reminded me. Fingers crossed for a better year in the making. ~Robin~

You have certainly had a stinker of a year. It's one of those times when my mother would say....It's a good thing that God keeps our future from us! My father's nickname for her was Gloomy Gus. I try not to emulate her. Here's hoping this year is the opposite of the last!
You are so good at the fixes on these patterns, I lack the patience I'm afraid.

Gone very cold down here, threats of that white stuff in the air. Right now we are living through a dragnet for a lurker that has plagued the neighborhoods for about a week. Tonight he was seen with a weapon. Roads are blocked. On Jan. 1 we were greeted with a loud bang and the house rattling on its timbers. We were told it was an exploding meteor. You never know, you know. Stay well. I will be making pierogi soon, I wonder if they travel well?

Marly: Happy New Year: I hope 2022 is a better year for us all, 2021 was hell on wheels.
I hope all goes well for Carole, it has been a hell of a year for you both.
Nice sampler, I am happy you caught the stitching differenc, I hate frogging.
Good luck at your doctor appointment, nice that it is 45 minutes closer.

It took courage and stamina to "review" your 2021, Marly. Now onward and upward..Here is hoping 2022 will bring improved health and great feats of non-frogging needlework.
Brava on your solution to the imbalance of the vines. It snowed here overnight and I
never heard the flakes falling, but what a pretty winter scene we had this morning.
May your medical appointments go well and the rest of the week give you a slower pace
and time to needle.
