Half of the month gone, closer to spring. So many appointments coming up (mine) and I dread them. A few more of Carole's but they are follow ups.
Carole decided that she would like the same finish on the bluebird as mine, not the bright green. I have more of the poms and fabric, backing boards were fleeced and ready, how much easier when no decisions are needed. I didn't think inserting the pom hanger ends between the boards would be ideal because of the bulk, and removal if hangers are no longer preferred. I cut the poms off and then held a lighter close enough to seal edge from raveling. I added a few buttons over the edge, glued it all and weighted for a good bond.
The hanger is long enough for a doorknob, she will ask why I made it so long. If I shorten, she will ask why I made it so short. But I think it's too long so I may remove before the glue hardens.
I plan to re-chart Jean's sides which are not balanced so they will be last, but wanted to get the sawtooth border started. My eyesight has worsened quite a bit (not related to the dryness) and I am making a lot of errors, so ran purple thread to make sure they are the correct length. This is the last row before the fun begins, and how nice that every OTHER letter is eyelet! Another error because of not paying attention to those directions but the letter had to removed anyway because once again, the wrong color. I'm on a roll with mistakes but catching them early helps.
Have you noticed that the still advertised as 6"x9" envelopes are just a little too snug for items that used to fit inside? They are now 5 7/8" x 9".
Have a good day!

The pom poms look great. Don't bother making the hanger shorter -- it's fine for easy hanging anywhere.
Looks like your eyesight is good enough to notice the skimpy envelope size :). Seems like almost everything is smaller these days. Same size pkging of food but smaller contents. I especially dislike what has happened to saltine crackers; hardly anything to them. Oreo cookies (the regular ones) aren't like what they used to be either. Just to mention a few.
Hope all goes well with the various health checkups.
The finish is perfect, those little poms are just too cute, she will like it. Hope all goes well with your appointments, always a worry isn't it? This whole aging gracefully business is not what it was cracked up to be!
Great finish on the bluebird of happiness! I love the pom poms!! And Jan is right...nothing is as big as it used to be. This summer I grabbed the Miracle Grow box and it seemed light. I compared it to one I had from the prior season and they had reduced it from 1.5# to 1#...but same exact packaging and a higher price. To me that's deceptive. If they are going to change the weight, size, etc., they should be required to change the packaging or put a disclaimer on the package saying "now 25% less...same great packaging." You know, like how they say "now 25% more...blah blah blah."(See what happens when an attorney has too much time on her mind??) ~Robin~
Love your finish on the sweet blue bird. Pom poms are adorable. I know Carole will lover hers.
I'm still loving the swan pear. So pretty.
If the remainder of this year goes as fast as Feb. has, we'll be celebrating Christmas before you know it.
The size of ice cream containers is what gets me.
My jonquils and hyacinths are up several inches. May have thunder on Thursday. That will wake up the snakes, "so they say".
Take care of your eyes and yourself.

I think the finished piece is lovely as it is.
I have severe dry eye and my sight isn't the best, so your tip of running thread to keep the stitching lined up is awesome!! Thank you! I may try a sampler now.
I hadn't noticed the envelope issue, but haven't bought any for a long time either. So many other things have shrunk again, I'm not surprised envelopes would too. But if nothing fits them - who's going to buy? It's not like being able to toss another can of tuna in the casserole.
I like the finish on the bluebird. It's hard to decide how long to make the hanger when you don't know where it will be displayed.
Sorry about the eyes, I hope it's age-related (not that we're old!!!) changes, and nothing serious. More correctly, nothing more serious from Sjogrens or a new issue.
You have the best finishes!
Compare the width of Charmin bath tissue compared to Cottonelle. BIG difference ;-(
