The lineup

A started project by Lucy Beam was picked up again but when unfolded, what the heck?  How did I cut this and not realize it was needed?

Sometimes it is easy to choose a project, most times not.  This time ..... NOT.  I want a smaller piece and have five chosen but would love to have a BAP also.  Two projects at once has never been the case, but the only hope of completing the larger samplers may be to offer a break while not having to set aside the needle.  I know that the longer the needle is idle, the less willing I am to pick it up again.  If there another less daunting project to switch to and keep the needle active, well, we'll see how it goes.

But which?  Several are included each time I am searching, a few are new and irresistable.  Sarah Pope has far too much over one but what about stitching this center area for a drum?  Their clothing is tent stitch, better than lettering.  What to do what to do!!!  I started with marking samplers, still my go-to choice, but so was 30 count back then.  I've since changed to single thread 36 and worked on several with scenes and motifs.  I would have never considered some of the following years ago, but are more enticing these days.

At the top of the list....

Very large but not not a difficult stitch.....

Close to the top.....

All lettering, so easy!  Free hand border.

HELP ME!!

I cannot continue living in procrasti-nation, the nation of which I reign.  I  must get moving on so many things that I failed to initiate plus additionals that were put on hold this last year.  Did that planner help?  Never wrote a day in it because I kept procrastinating to start entries!!  See?  I need help.  The young reliable and experienced man that we finally found for all house projects, sadly has cancer that he kept to himself, but is now affecting his abilities.  I used to rip down walls and help with construction and such, but have been dragging butt for some time.  Could it be my Sjogren's which can affect joints and also cause fatigue?  Or  maybe I am just worn out and old!

Cranky made me complete that border and she was right.  Maybe a strong recommendation of project would help me get moving.

Have you seen the news report video of the older Ukrainian woman crying, sobbing?  Breaks your heart.  I've seen the younger mothers sobbing, the children, all unbearable.  But this woman's despair has not left me for a minute.
Stay safe.

I will not admit to how much time I took puzzling over the BAP acronym... then it hit me. Good grief...I was laughing so hard tears almost ran down my leg. It's so good to see in print the words that I was right. 🤣 Miracles do happen once in a blue moon ya know. I hesitate to offer any suggestions for your BAP, though, because some of the colors that I don't find necessarily appealing I know you will change up and make me fall for. But, I said "hesitate" - not stop.... Soooo, my top two favorites are Sarah Stewart and Mary Elliott. Sarah, however, has eerie shadows of a certain other sampler a certain someone did (this verb is used very, very, loosely) recently....and decided to make a little fence with sheep....and some planes...errr....birds...in the sky??? Or is that just me??? ~Robin~ (And, no, I have not seen that woman and I vow to not go in search of her. 😢)

If I had to choose it would be the Lola Turner sampler. I would avoid the Sarah Stewart right now as it is very similar to one you recently completed. Make a decision and don't put down that needle. I have not started trying to avoid most of the videos from Ukraine as they are just to heartbreaking to contemplate. I am just horrified. Enjoy your stitching.

I stitched the Sarah Pope sampler many moons ago when my eyes were sharper and fingers more nimble. It is quite the project. I love your suggestion of doing just part of it, but those lovely carnation type flowers beside the big house were queen stitch. Not for the faint of heart. I stitched it on 36 count. It is one of the few samplers I have framed and proudly display. I also stitched the Sheepish Antiques sampler. Much easier than Sarah Pope and the sawtooth border added a great touch to the overall simplicity. I stitched it on unbleached linen with the called for colors. It turned out subtly and beautifully. I'm a soft touch for samplers that are wider than they are long, so my first choice for personal stitching would be Lora Turner 1830. Love everything about it. The houses, the birds on the trees, the variety of flowering plants. I may have to do that one myself!
Yes, my heart breaks for the Ukraine. So much devastation. I'm trying to focus on doing the next right thing for those around me. Take care and let us know what your choice of samplers is. We'll be waiting!

Marly: You make have so many beautiful choices to choose from, I too would have a hard time deciding, I think a drum on that design would be lovely.

You have a lot of good ones there! I'm gonna cast my vote for Jane Ballard. I think it's a lot different than others you've stitched, it's mighty impressive, there aren't a lot of people stitching it lately AND I have this in my stash waiting in the wings and sure would love to see you stitch it.

A drum is lovely to do and something else for a change too.
Or you can take all the charts-- threw them on a big table with closed eyes and take one to going to stitch...lol
Good luck with choose a design and take care,Truus from Holland

I'm afraid I don't know what BAP means, never was good with acronyms
I'm a classic procrastinator, always have been
I have UFO's everywhere
I too suffer from "just get started syndrome"

honestly, looking at your list of stitching projects I would run for the hills
I know myself well enough- I would start and never finish oh well

I wish you luck selecting.I'm off to get my hands dirty in the garden, that I can handle

BAP = Big A** Project? That's all I can think of right off. It seems all my projects are BAPs, if only in the time it takes me to finish them.

I think my favorite of the options shown is the 2nd one. For the BAP, I like the and the Ann Spence 1801, and Jane Southward 1863, and Sarah Hardman, and... I'm being no help, am I? I think the only ones I would not stitch are Ann Stone and Mary Elliott on, even though I can't read them, I suspect they are far too religious for me.

Bummer about the chunk out of Lucy Beam's linen, and the handyman news. IMHO, if Sjogren's doesn't directly affect joints and cause fatigue, it can certainly be wearing on a person dealing with the actual effects. Add in all the other things you've dealt with over the last year (year and a half now?), plus covid still upending our normal routines for yet another year, no wonder you're mentally fatigued.

Would love to see what you would do with the Sheepish Antiques sampler but they are all wonderful. Some have an insane amount of work and detail and are overwhelming for me but I can see you taking them on and making them better than the original. Love what you do with color and placement. Now we wait to see what you decide. Hugs.

Marly, that’s quite a lineup. I can’t pick for you but I have no doubt that whichever you choose, it’ll be gorgeous when you’re done with it!
Thanks to JustGail for taking a stab at BAP! I had no clue but now it makes perfect sense! Have a good week! Cherie in WI
