Fabulous floral frippery

Hello people.  This morning we revisited a greenhouse where I purchased a hanging basket for the wife of husband's friend, a caregiver to her mom who was not doing well.  It had three petunias in variegated colors I had not seen before. Very soft apricots, purples, and deep pink.  It was a small hanging basket and I really loved it.  My birthday is close and I thought I could get one for myself, but of course, none left.  A mass of very large and expensive baskets, already leggy, not what I wanted.

This is a small place, with some of the best displays I've seen.   These are just a few I thought I would share with you.  A large old pedestal sink was loaded with color and I guess that photo failed.  Their succulent displays are very unusual and special also.

I had a rusted bike like this, Carole wanted it, I will attempt to locate it since she never added a planter to it.

The white mini tunias at the right are part of a huge pedestal birdbath completely filled with white, red, and greens.

I have a large house with a rotted floor, could easily remove the roof and recreate this one.

The two tone mini tunia at far left was one of those in her basket.

I finished another berry using the chart I posted (on right).  When no errors are involved, only one evening is needed, not four days.  Lower linen count for a size change and I added two rows of three plus a single at top.  Not sure if turning this small area will work to attach a ribbon but thought I'd try.  If you omit the two single stitches of the red's top row, you have a nice heart, so berry or heart, an easy little ditty.

I plan to start Mary Bell after coloring the linen to what I wanted.  I do not want to cut the 13 x 18 piece, but look at the difference in the weight of these two pieces.  With my stitch tension, the sheer piece even though 40 count, will certainly have pulled stitches.

But using this 8" x 12" will prevent cutting a piece that could be used for a larger project.
Always a linen skimper, and seeing the latest price hike, will continue to be!

Have a good weekend.

I’m the same with my linen as well. Just can’t bear to cut it because I really might need that larger piece in the near future…yea right!
Love the flower displays and has inspired me to finally get mine this year. Well actually, neighbors are having a graduation party next Sunday so everyone will be parking at our house which means I have to get my yard in shape asap! Maybe pretty hanging baskets will help everyone not notice all the weeds in the beds.

Very fun displays. Someone is very creative. Unfortunately, I hate to think what they will look like in a month or so, let alone several. They are so full. (And not to mention will likely require constant watering...) Ever the pessimist I know. And yeah... that is an incredible difference between those linens. I'm not sure that I ever paid attention to mine before. (Please PRETEND to be surprised...at least a little.) ~Robin~

Love the flowers planted in various vintage, etc. containers. I have potted some hostas for my deck. They come back every year and add some greenery that doesn't need the attention that flowers do. Also found two tiny evergreen trees growing in places they shouldn't be so put them in pots to see what they'll do. One can be a Charlie Brown tree at Christmas time.
My flowers are doing as well in my tiny garden as they have in past years. Azaleas only had one bloom. Do have some yellow lilies coming and a nice red lily plant that is finally blooming.
My 81 year old balance is not was it used to be. Have to be careful the way I walk in the yard.....makes me angry that this has happened to me. Do NOT feel my age.
So thoughtful of you to give flowers to the caretaker, but that is you, Marly. Always kind to others.
God Bless you !

Such a great little greenhouse you found, Marly! I love the way the little vignettes give it such a personal touch--so much nicer than those big box stores! Great ideas--each and every one. Your strawberries are looking good--so glad for an error free night of stitching. That seems to be happening less and less around my house :) Hope you have a great week, too, Marly! ♥

Beautiful displays for the these flowers!
To make little samplers or other tiny pieces I have a piece of linen I can cut in the size I need. And I have smaller pieces of linen for my samplers.
How is Chris doing Marly??? Hope he will recover soon.
Take care and stay save, Truus from Holland

Those are very pretty plantings. Sadly in my care, they wouldn't look that good for long. I suspect pruning and fertilizing is lacking in my routine.
I kitted up your 1776 & October Moon patterns, and was chuffed when I found some remnants that will work, in both size and color. I agree about not cutting linen, if there's a good chance it will be needed for a larger project. It's not just cost to buy more, right now the bigger question seems to be - can one even find linen available? I've had some 40 count on order for nearly 2 months now. Why they sent an "it's available" email when they hadn't actually received it in their hands is beyond my understanding.
