As Jackie Gleason would say ...

 AND AWAY WE GO!!!!!

If I find a thread color isn't working for me I will change it then, not before.
There are a few linens that I still don't care for, one is a piece of Paperbark, another is Hemingway.  My limited stash of fat quarters yielded colors (all neutral) that l am pleased with for these projects.
So far!

I just shortened and taped a 5x8 plastic bag to my project pouches and inserted yellow paper for easy identification.  Yes the beautiful fabric ones would be nice, but after decades of stitching, I don't even have a needle minder.  It's how I started long before there were pretties and would rather the money go to fabrics and charts.  Nothing wrong with expensive scissors and hundreds of $$ in bags and dookies if you can afford them, not in the least!  But if some of us are more comfortable with just the basics, nothing wrong with that either.  A completed beautiful sampler does not offer a hint whether the stitcher stored supplies in plastic or glorious fabric, cut with $100 scissors or $5, used a finely crafted wood frame or held the linen in hand, whether bauble fobs dangled from tools.  Personal preference determines what you feel would make your needleworking more pleasurable or offer a better result.  It's our choice, and whether we have it all, or very little, we can create a beautiful result as did the young girls whose work we reproduce.

Have a good day!!

Absolutely right. So little we need to make beautiful embroidery pieces, cheap scissors, simple embroidery hoops. The same for quiltmaking - for years I have made nice quilts with basic tools. It´s nice with special tools but you can live without. Regards Annika

So very true, Marly--I am another who doesn't need (or use) all the doodads. Not a needleminder in sight, I stitch in hand, and I usually have my threads in a plastic zipper bag--see through is so much easier :) Personally, I'd rather spend my money on fabric and threads than all of the extras! Have fun with these--can't wait to watch them grow ♥

I am impressed with your organization!

Amen! I use plastic bags a lot. I do have some beautiful scissors (and have them in a flower frog), but find I gravitate to the same ones over and over again. I'm still undecided about the next piece.....and I found I have some 32 count fabric and am thinking of using that, but over one. I may have lost my mind!

I agree completely...yet I am a fripperies and doodads girl. It's easier to choose the right needleminder or fob than actually stitch. 😳 😬 I agree, incredibly organized. But (you KNOW I always have a "but" or a "?")....why did you tape a bag to the bag for the name paper? Why not just tape the paper directly to the main bag?? (Really, I wanna know LOL). ~Robin~

100% agree with you on this. I guess I'd be considered a minimalist when it comes to all the fancy accoutrements. I don't own a needle minder, bobbins, project bags, scissor fobs or really anything decorative. I have a pair of Dovo scissors, glasses, stitch light and a few years ago I bought the Millennium frames and stand and don't ever feel like I need or want anything else. I'm much more into buying linen, threads, charts.

Thank you for this! I have a friend who as she moves from craft to craft MUST buy every little doodad that is out for each of them. I'm cheap and have the basic tools I've been stitching, quilting, knitting and crocheting with for many years. I'll never understand why some people need all the extra stuff but I guess there are many willing to part them from their money!

Robin - I'll wager she didn't want to crumple the paper and gave it
a home of its own... Our Marly is so ORGANIZED... No matter what I
"accumulate", it seems I always return to the good old standby,
basic and essential accessories. Less is more and so practical...
leaving one less distracted to concentrate on the work of our hands.

I store my floss in long paper envelopes with the number of the floss printed in the left hand corner of the envelope. The envelopes are stored in a cabinet-type-thing with three plastic drawers. They are separated by plastic dividers used in note books.........from 200 on up printed on the tabs.
Very primitive but it works for me.
I use 14 count cross stitch material. Can't see to do the smaller counts.
But, I enjoy stitching.........that's all that matters to me.
Blessings,
Charlotte in Va.

I agree with you Marly!
I have a magnifier on a stand, but I got this one when my Mum died years ago and a scissor from a cheap shop. It does the work very well so no need for a expensive one.
Take care and enjoy the day,Truus from Holland

I so agree with not spending money on every little doodad just to make my stitch space look cute. I will probably never go to a retreat where I'll need to show off all my extras just so that I can fit in.

I stitch weekly with a small group, and we don't have all that junk. One or two use needle minders. I made bags for everyone. We just enjoy the fellowship and not all the 'look at what I hauled in this week.' We shop charts and linen and truly have more than we need. I feel sorry for the floss tubers who need to keep buying just to be able to be seen by people they don't even know.

Thank you so very much for today's post, I feel so much better about using my unicorn embroidery scissors and my late Mum's dressmaker's scissor. I don't always have time or space to bring out a cutting board and cutting blades for fabrics. Have a great day Marly

So very true! Priorities...I prefer Aida and DMC...make my own project bags from my quilting stash...and totally enjoy the process of quilting or stitching...monogamous quilter and stitcher...just dont understand so many starts and so little finishes and the rush rush to do it all!

I do need to become a bit more organized…..I’m getting tired of all the knots in the floss that I thrash back into the plastic bag I use for my project.
