That's how old Carole will be tomorrow. Cake is ordered, although I wish I could have made it myself. Most of the bakery departments in grocery stores here are only open a few days a week, no workers. One store offers full sheet cakes and has a dedicated and long time employee still there. The quarter sheets in the case were not even two inches high with the icing but it will be what it will be. My hand is terrible and there is no way I could decorate, nor do I want to, nor do I remember where my tools are.
Rather than wear the white/gray shrinker socks on both her stumps, I searched for a fashion/fun sock. They are $25 for one, she needs two, so I need to make sure the fusspot will approve before ordering. When she wears the below knee prosthetic (she does not have one for the other leg which is above knee), I thought it may be nice to have some classic but also wild socks to wear over the metal. A filler would transition from the metal post to the wide top of the socket creating a smooth and neat fit.
Here's what I've worked on and hoping it will have a good result. Quilted or padded wrap doesn't hold the shape so ...... my leather stash will hopefully be perfect. I can adjust the fit and it will of course stay that way, she can keep, remove, or change the sock before attaching the prosthetic to her remaining limb. We'll see!! Lots of options and patterns for wide knee socks, but still plan to get the fancy stump socks also.
My hand is better today and I am ready to go out to blow leaves, and stitching will hopefully resume this evening. No dog yet, but closing in on the main portion and hope to wrap this up soon.
And I decided to roast a large batch of sausage and peppers in sauce, with double the pepper/onion/sauce. Rather than go through that long process when craving a sausage pepper sub, I only have to cook the sausage and add it to the freezer saves.
Have a super day!

Happy Birthday to dear Carole! I hope she finds some fun socks!! :) You have great ideas there.
Happy Birthday to Carole. I hope your cake is tasty!
Happy birthday to Carole. As I've said many times, she is lucky to call you sister!
Happiest of Birthday wishes to Carole. What an incredibly thoughtful gift you came up with. I hope she loves the fun sock(s)! The stitching, of course, is beautiful...hope the leaf blowing didn't infringe on your stitching capability. I woke up to a white world this morning...and it has snowed all day. It happens every October but it always seems to early...and always pisses me off. ~Robin~
Happy Birthday to Carole and to you her sister too!
What a thoughtful gift you found for her and I do hope she will appreciate this!
Don't do to much when you just have your hands feeling better and take care of yourself!!!
Have a peaceful day,Truus from Holland
Sending Happy Birthday wishes to Carole on her 84th birthday. She has been through a LOT and has still got spirit. God bless her and you, her very caring sister.

Hope it's a wonderful birthday for Carole - you are so giving and kind as always and know your efforts will make provide comfort. It seems this past year has been hard on so many people but as I age and most friends join me in the senior age group, health and falls and losing spouses is part of our lives. I am blessed and pray that you and your family begin this winter season with happy and healthy times

Happy Birthday to Carole, hope the cake is suitable. If not, pfft! You don't need to stress your hand any more than necessary. I hope you have a good visit, without much of being told your efforts aren't up to her visions.
That's a good idea to make the sauce for the sausage and freeze it. I bet it would be good for other things too. Julia is looking gooood!
Okay Marly: I am moving near you and sneaking over for some of your peppers and sausage with onions, wow it sounds so good.
I think you are an amazing lady to be so sweet to take care of your sister, not many in today's world do so.
The design on the stocking is wild but very pretty.
Happy Birthday to Carole, I hope it is a fun day for her and all involved in her day.
No one wants to work anymore, that crappy pandemic turned our world upside down.
I hope the cake is a yummy one.
Hugs
Catherine
