I have always slouched. Very poor posture. That's one of the most important aspects of your appearance, and mine resembles cave dwellers. First and foremost to appear shorter but adding arthritis takes slouching to a new level. On the bright side, this position makes it much easier to spot the m&m I dropped.
Slump .... well... no reason or excuse. But I feel it in my aching bones. I love Ann Stone even though I have never found a photo online, but I am not feeling it. Some of the lighter colors are difficult for me but being 30 count makes it easier. The low count coarse linen was always my favorite in the beginning but I don't like the feel at all now, and the eyelet stitches are tedious. I've gone through the kits, I see over one. Not just words, but critters and faces. I could leave those areas for the end but may be frustrated with the project and that would really close it down.
So how can I avert a slump? What do you do and does it work? My plan is to browse this bench for something small and simple. I really don't have a lot of charts, mainly because I will not purchase unless I believe they will be stitched. That wasn't always the case!! There are a few special samplers and smalls that will not be, but I had to have the chart.
The background issue is not resolved and has been pushed into mid November.
Our friends have covid, again, five pharmacies were out of Paxlovid. I made an appt with a new rheumatologist (out of town of course but not far) and will see his PA on December 23. For the doc, I wait until March. I wanted a fourth and final opinion on getting the vaccine and would like an antibody test done. Been a year, some are gone in weeks, some last a very long time.
Mark is golfing this afternoon, hoping for a few more perfect putts!
Have a great weekend.
Thanks for visiting.

When I'm in a slump, I reach for something Christmasy. If it's a needlepoint slump, I stitch a stocking. If it's a cross stitch slump, a Christmas pinkeep or ornament. HoHoHo!
I've just finished stitching 5 Threadwork Primitives Quaker pinwheels, the Birds and Holly are my favourites, just need to colour some pins and find nice backing material. Next on my list is Brightneedle's Sakura which was a class piece years ago and I picked it up on Ebay for 99 pence. Also on the to do list very soon is Blackbird Designs' Early Christmas Morning and Drawn Thread's Christmas Baskets. I do hope you find some inspiration soon, stitching keeps us sane I'm sure.
When in a slump, I marinate in it for a while. Sometimes hours, sometimes days. Move on to a totally different type of project for a while. Then I'll see something on a blog that I love. So I root through the pattern stash again. If nothing motivates me there, maybe I'll check internet shops or maybe make the long trip to an area shop. I too always seriously intend to get all patterns I purchase stitched. As long as I can hold a needle and see, there's still hope for some of those 20-30 year old charts. IF my taste hasn't changed that is.
I like the bench for your chart storage. My patterns are stuffed into a couple of cardboard magazine boxes and a couple of notebooks on the shelf, or in one of many folders on the computer.
Bummer on the background issue being pushed back and still hanging over you, and your friends being sick again. I hope your appointment with the new rheumatologist PA goes well and that Mark's putting game was up to snuff.
Marly, love your bench that you use for chart storage. Did you purchase it or did your husband make it for you? I usually reach for something by The Prairie Schooler or something in one color when I feel a slump coming on. Have a restful weekend!
You are so organized!!! I need a lesson or two from you ;-)
Mostly I will look through my freebees, because these are mostly small ones.
When there is no chart I like, then I will stitch an alphabet in one color or with a thread with color changes.
Take care and stay save, Truus from Holland
Aha! I liked your observation of being able to see the M&M’s. The bench is a perfect piece for your charts.
