Results of Carole's echocardiogram showed her efficiency rate which was 25 during the cardiogenic shock and second TAVR, increased to 30 after the surgery, increased to 35 after two amputations, and today is 40. Wow. They told her that her body's tremendous stress of trying to heal and fight the damage was bringing her entire system to a breaking point. With her legs gone, the fight for now is over and her body can return to functioning, not fighting. Healing, not hurting. We learned a lot from her nurses and always trust their input.
I took the final batch of elderberries out of the freezer, I doubt we will pick them again. Do you think the size of that missing piece is a little piggish? I thought it was good, husband tasted and said it is not, thought it had an odd taste. Without saliva, my sense of taste is extremely sensitive. Maybe not the best elderberry pie I've had, but not objectionable as he claims. I have appointments tomorrow but I also have Immodium!! I'm eating pie.
Elderberries are a beautiful color, not purple, not blue, not wine.
Thank goodness for large handled pie plates, Gave a load of standard rims to the woman's shelter. Whenever you need to discard cookware, flatware, dinnerware, any kitchen or bath items, call the closest domestic violence center and donate to those starting over with nothing.
Still working on Paisley and decided to add one of these to the sampler rotation. Winter Brew, Confederate Gray, or something with a greenish cast for the linen. I got a piece of Marbled Pointer, very green, and dyed it shortly after receiving. Too bad, would have been nice for these two.
Quite a few errors on Paisley's dress pattern which was difficult for me to see. All corrected now. I do love the Santa suits, houses, dresses, pastures, but I tire of the fill-in quickly. It's that impatience thing.
It's dark and crappy, but another day closer to summer.
Have a good one!

I get impatient with fill in too. It always looks nice but (for me) is annoying to stitch. that pie looks delicious. The deer ate ALL of our elderberries...also our winter berries. I even saw a deer munching on a rose bush -thorns and all. Is that weird or have I just never noticed it before?
Marly, it’s about time you get good news. Your pie looks delicious. Good luck with your tests and hopefully more good news!
I love how you think.....one day closer to summer! Cherie in WI
That's great news about Carole, that her body is recovering. I won Paisley on Ebay the other day and can't wait to start her. I don't have Whittaker either I'm afraid, but one or two of the others. A few would look great in a basket I'm thinking.
Praying for good results for you too and thoughtfull persons who are helping you.
Your pie looks delicious but I don't have elderberries in the new garden now so will make a apple crumble one today.
Paisley is looki g good as is your Whittaker.
Take care and stay save, Truus from Holland
So very glad, happy and thankful that Carole is getting good news about her health. It's been a long haul and both she and you need good news.
Yes, I think I will be looking forward to warmer weather. This early cold weather has it me harder than usual.
My Grandmother used to make elderberry pies, many years ago. I LOVE pie !
Happy Thanksgiving !

Awesome news to read about Carole! Have a good Friday, Marly!
That is good news on Carole.
That slice looks about right size serving to me. I have a formerly black-leafed elderberry shrub, but never picked the berries. Am I correct that you don't eat the berries directly while picking them? I really should look up what to do with them next year, other than let the birds have them all. Having never had elderberry anything that I recall, I don't think I'd know a good pie from bad.
Peppermint Pals is sweet!
Keep the good news coming!!! It's long overdue.
Hi Marly: Good news for Carole, I hope she continues to get good news and able to live in her own home for a long time.
I have never had elderberry pie sound yummy.
Your Christmas stitching is adorable, looking forward to seeing the marbled fabric dyed.
16 degrees here very cold.
Catherine
I'm so happy to read your good news for both you and Carole, Marly! You so deserve it and perhaps things are turning around. Your pie look great--have never had elderberry, but I love berries of any kind so I'm sure I'd enjoy it. Hope your good news streak keeps up ♥
