Getting close!

Those stacked hearts take a while to stitch, in addition to the over one, not sure I will finish before the weekend.  I have quite a few very old R&R charts, hand written, not as easy to read as printed of course.  I think I may offer Ann's chart when finished.

I am feeling better, stomach not completely settled, and have certainly had enough sleep in four days.  The aides at Carole's facility are keeping in touch with her and reported that covid hit her section hard after she left.  Two visitors had intestinal symptoms, not respiratory/flu, no fever, and did not realize that was covid.

Ravioli Tuesday moved to Wednesday moved to Thursday.  Chris's pump doctor rescheduled to this afternoon and I have no problem moving dinner a day for him. He has a few days off which have been busy as always with Carole's needs.  Matt's girlfriend has been taking care of her, I have not.  I don't know what she would have done these past weeks without her.  No reply yet from the state or other agencies I reported.

Venturing out this afternoon for fresh bread and a few other items.  No longer purchasing frozen garlic bread since our favorite greatly reduced the size, we'll make our own.  Salad will be leaf lettuce topped with sliced pear, pickled beets, crumbled blue cheese. sweet balsamic syrup.

Warming up a little, fifty on Friday.  I saw quite a few online friends remove Christmas decorations a day after, my husband wants them to stay.  What do you do?
Enjoy your day!

Christmas decor comes down around the 6th or 7th. I know some take it down the day after and many of those have been decorated since Nov. 1 so it makes sense to me.

Glad to hear that you are saying enough is enough with Carole and take more time for yourself and Mark. You did so much for Carole and it was never good or enough while you are dealing with your own health problems.
Ann is a beautiful sampler and I love the blue text in it.
I have only a few Christmas decorations and will remove those mostly in a week after New Year.
Take care, Truus from Holland

As much as I would love to keep them up through to the Three Kings, our
service starts removing the exterior after the first, but I will hold on
to the interior magic a bit longer. So glad you got the much needed rest
that seems to have helped you recover. In a way a blessing that Carole
was not exposed to the Covid...and hoping the program for her care gets
resolved...

Ann is lovely.
I normally start taking my decorations down the 1st or 2nd, but this year I am in no hurry, so maybe a week later than normal. Thankfully they come down more quickly than they go up, but still not easy task.

Well, there are twelve days of Christmas which would take one through January 6--Epiphany! I find that folks are always in such a rush and flurry to get things ready for Christmas Day that when the day finally arrives, they are exhausted. Well, maybe that is what those twelve days are for...to actually enjoy the holiday season! Relax and admire the beautiful decorations, focus on the true meaning of the holiday, and listen peacefully to the inspiring music and just soak in all the joy. I say, "God bless us every one and enjoy the twelve days!"

Glad to hear you're feeling at least a little better. Stomach issues are awful. I take my little feather trees and stockings down by the end of January. But the bells on my door, the chalkware santas and chocolate molds stay out year round. (Didn't Scrooge say he would keep christmas in his heart all year long?)

Glad to hear you're feeling a little bit better. And glad Matt's girlfriend is taking care of Carole, giving you a little break. Ravioli on Thursday sounds really good. We are never in a hurry to take Christmas down. The tree for sure is up until late winter. We like the lights at night. We're still feeling Christmas-y, snacking on Christmas cookies and listening to holiday music. And my husband just called me to the window to tell me some snow had started falling. So that adds to our still festive mood. I Hope you let Mark keep Christmas around a little bit longer. I think if he enjoys the decorations, keep them up for him.

I'm happy to hear you're feeling better! The hearts are lovely. It seems like all of those motifs that take forever turn out to be the showstoppers. Glad your sister wasn't around the Covid, you never know what can happen. My cousin, who was healthy and fit passed away on Christmas morning from Covid. She went from just being ill to gravely ill in less than 24 hours. A very big shock to us. As far as Christmas decorations, we put them up the weekend after Thanksgiving and they stay up at least until the Epiphany (Jan 6), my husband insists that's the right way to do it, however he takes mercy on us with the 24 hour/day Christmas music. That only goes until the wee hours of the 26th.

Most of my Christmas decor is snowmen, so they can stay out until I (or Jill) gets the energy to put them away. Did dismantle a small tree yesterday, Wed. Will sell it next year.......God Lord Willing.
I'm glad Carole got out before the Covid hit.
Your salad sounds delicious. Trying to figure out what would satisfy my taste buds these days.
Enjoy the warmer weather.
Hugs,

I am traditional, I leave all decorations up until Epiphany. It makes me sad to see the rush to put up and the frenzy to take down. Reflection of our times in my opinion. Carole is in my prayers as always. I don't always comment, but I always read and want you to know you all are always in my thoughts and prayers. Joyous New Year!

My decorations usually stay up until after January 1st, then I start putting them away. I have already stored the Christmas linens/towels. I am glad you are feeling better. I am so sorry that you are having so much trouble with aide services. I spent two months sleeping at my mother's home each night as I had to pay out of pocket for aides during the day despite the fact that she had been approved for 24/7 care. That is how long it took for the agency to find people to work. I hate to say it, but it seems better to be in a facility than try to live at home at some point.

The inside decorations are usually put away by the 1st. I'll be working on taking them down the next 2-3 days so they can get stuffed back in the attic before it turns cold again. DH will most likely take down the outside lights in a few days too. Having them put away by or on Jan. 1 started when I was working and I didn't want to do it all on a weekend after returning to work after the holiday shut-down.
Well dang! Covid hitting the facility after Carole left makes me feel maybe my comments about her leaving might have been undeserved. Not totally - there's still the home care issues to be resolved.

I hope you let Matt's GF know your readers also appreciate her efforts. You've needed a break for soooo long. Also good that Chris has gotten more involved over the last weeks/months. I'm glad they realize you can't be the go-to person for every little thing.

After finishing the king-size quilt for DS & SO, I'm looking for my stitching/sewing ambition. Maybe doing some neglected cleaning will help it re-appear? Ann is looking good, can't wait to see her finished.

Glad you're feeling better. Inside decorations stay up until Jan 6th or 7th. Outside lights stay up until the 6th unless the weather forecast is for super cold or blizzard conditions, the they come down either before the weather gets bad or after it has improved.

Happy New Year Marly: We keep ours up till the first week of January, take them down the day after the Epiphany.
So good to hear you are feeling better, it's that time of year.
It seems that even a sneeze nowadays is considered covid.
We have had warmer weather and tonight drizzle and maybe lite snow, then warm again.
We make our own garlic bread, lately the store bought has little garlic and butter, it's a sign of the times, I guess.
It is nice to hear Carole has help and giving you a break one you have earned.

Well, I'm glad Carole was not there when the Covid outbreak hit, Marly. It seems to be everywhere again... Glad you are feeling better and getting a bit of rest. I think now that the coldest weather has gone, we'll all have more energy and feel better about going out.

I am normally one to leave my decorations up until January 1st, but felt the need to take them down little by little this week since no one was here except us two. Only the tree is left and that will come down on Sunday. I truly love the peacefulness of January--no holidays to prepare for, just quiet times for reflection and lots of stitching!

Enjoy this warm spell ♥

Glad you are feeling better. I keep my decorations up until the Kings visit. So much work to put up and take down. I only put up two trees, mantle decor and a bit of this and that on tables. I did twinkle light all the house plants, I thank I will leave that up all Winter. Or at least until the lights burn out.

So much going on for you all, I hope for a happy, healthy, and peaceful New Year!
