Finally.
I sat down this morning and finished the hearts. The last few days have been horrible and I see no end in sight, Ann was not picked up for a few days. I need to finish her, accomplish something.
The over one in the center box will be closely counted and aligned so as not to have another fiasco. This sampler for some reason whether with tablet or camera, is very hard to portray in a photo. That blue section fades and clarity is a problem. The thread was to be 3023 but I chose the blue because of the chart's photo. The dividing band above it was charted for blue, and I chose another which I now regret. The bottom section in the photo looks much darker than the called for threads.
These old R&R Reproduction charts are hand drawn, none have a good or clear photo, but they are really nice offerings of more primitive/simple/marking samplers. Should I pick up one of the big girls waiting in the basket? Will I have trouble adjusting to 36 again after this 30 count? Would a beautiful floral border that can test my resolve be a good idea? Maybe. I will need to shut down and focus solely on those stitches, a good thing, but it could go the other way too!! Finish Ann first and do a load of laundry. I'll need more big girl panties in my drawer.
Have a great Sunday.

Hi Marly: You have a knack for choosing beautiful Samplers, I am a Sampler lover but choose smaller projects mostly.
I am looking forward to seeing your next project.
Catherine
Yay for aligned hearts! You are so close to a finish. You go girl. I know it's hard to capture true colors in photos, but I like your colors so much better than what I am seeing on the photo of the original. That blue is too baby blue-ish to me....and I like your dividing band color choice much better. Anyway...what do I know. 30 count you say? Did you use 2 when doing your over 2's? I have so much 32 count linen in my stash and yet have decided I much prefer 36 or 40. Maybe I can borrow some of your big girl panties? In any event, yes...I think you should take one one of the big girls and/or floral border. Your demeanor with Ann says your ready. 😉 ~Robin~ (So sorry to hear your days have been horrific...hoping they improve.)
Marly, Marly...you are much too critical of your work. Your sampler thus far looks great and I've no doubt the finish will be stunning. Your cross stitching has been an inspiration for me and I appreciate your good eye for changes.
Hope 2023 becomes a much more positive year for you. You've had much, too much on your plate with family issues. Here's wishing you nothing but the best!
One of the big girls? This looks like a "big girl" to me and for all the problems you are having, you stitched that quickly!!! I love her.
Love the colors you choose for Ann--so much better than on the chart picture.
For me this is already a big sampler and I would stitch this one maybe over a years time.
Hope and praying that this year will be with much less problems than last years.
Take care, Truus from Holland
Even with all the stuff you deal with, you are far more productive than I have been lately. Since finishing that king size quilt before Christmas, I've done nothing involving needle and thread other than make a couple of plain baby bibs.
I like the colors you used. Especially that bottom dividing border that doesn't show up at all on the pattern photo.
Superb, whether you grant it that or not...with all you wade through, it is a wonder you have come through this far. Again, just love your color changes. I've been knitting a "throw" in the wire round and it is much too large (read heavy) to carry...and a complicated stitch which, if dropped, is a bear to retrieve...oh well...glutton for punishment, I guess. But I do learn and will not repeat that experience again anytime. Itching to get back to the sampler I dropped to do the knitting for Christmas giving, which still has to be completed. But I must have your tenacious gene and am determined. Hope your post holiday time is being given over to some relaxation for you and Mark. You both and Carole continue in prayers.. Hope all the issues are being resolved.
Your sampler is turning out super and I'm wondering if you're planning on framing it or have other plans for it. SO GLAD! you didn't decide to take fire to it. You have a very pretty (almost) finish.
What will you plan on stitching next?
Hope all goes well will nursing assignments for Carole, but also that all goes OK with your health situation.
