Seen on flosstube, the Serial Starter showed this gem.
Susanna Hartley 1824
Not sure if this sweet treat will be on 30 count or 36. My lower counts are more coarse, more primitive looking, and this sampler is definitely that. Not much difference in size between the two, but my head is as squishy as a watermelon right now so decisions are not reliable.
Grateful for the low price! My garbage collection is doubling, they pay $24/hr with full benefits, no workers, one company is left which means no bids. Matching that cost is the sewer that was over 10 grand, now $75/month, no water service. The real estate taxes are being reassessed, always a large increase. Electric is 50% higher, school taxes are killing us. We will be selling the house in a year or so. Once Carole is settled with help, I plan to look for part time work.
Remember the fern that I failed to discard? It will be covered with four to six inches soon.
I am crabass, hear me whine.
Have a good one!

Oh my you can whine all you want, it's a shame that no one wants to work especially since so much money is being handed out for no reason.
I met a woman here in Minnesota who had eight children, different fathers for many she is raking in almost 8000 dollars a month, my tax dollars at work.
I like this Sampler, very primitive looking, please do not let your head be squishy it's hard to count threads that way, giggles.

Scary how prices are going up.
You find the most wonderful samplers!!!
Your Gigi R is beautiful and love the change of colors you have made.
Didn't you have any more samplers left in your stash? lol
I don't watch flosstubes, because I want so many of the beautiful charts they are showing and my stash is big enough to stitch them all when I will be 200 years of age.
Your fern will look stunning with snow on top as did mine staying in the garden in winter and in the spring they turned out beautiful with new green leaves.
Take care, Truus from Holland
I work for our village and our garbage rates just increased 60% because the garbage company has been buying all the other, smaller garbage companies to eliminate their competition. Our electric and natural gas rates have also increased 50-60%. Your new sampler looks fun. Hang in there!
At least your school taxes all go to public schools? Iowa just rammed through a private school voucher plan that will most likely gut public schools after they've been starved of funding for the past 7-8 years. Absolutely public schools have issues, but fix them instead of trashing what once was admired by the rest of the country.
I don't watch Flosstubes, I already spend too much time reading blogs instead of doing my projects. And yes, I don't need the temptation to buy any more charts to not stitch. You did find a lovely little sampler.
The fern makes a nice sculpture, I hope the next snow doesn't smash it flat.
Prices for everything are on the rise. It's crazy out there! I like that Susanna Hartley sampler - very cute and very primitive. Is that a fox at the bottom??
How about if you and I whine together. Life is just not fair at all.
I'm sad about your fern. It was beautiful while it lasted.
We haven't had a "flake" as yet. Just rain today.
Another doctor appointment tomorrow (Thurs.) on my birthday.
I'm just about ready to throw in the towel.
Would hate to have to see you get a part time job.
We get real estate tax relief because of my age...when I'm gone my "kids" will have to pay through the nose. Don't know how they'll manage.
The new sampler looks interesting and challenging.
Take care, stay warm and well.
Hugs, Charlotte in Va.
This sweet little piece ought to stitch up very quickly, Marly--a good "instant gratification" finish (which is what all my ornaments are :)
Yes, it's terrible how the price of everything is just exploding. I feel so bad for the young families when I see what houses and food are going for. My son's family in the DC area may never find a house to call their own. The prices are absurd and there are so few on the market. Really frustrating for them.
Hope you didn't get the 4-6 inches of the white stuff. We only had an inch and it's supposed to warm up and rain this afternoon. Take care now ♥
Another fun stitch it looks like. And many, if not most, of us empathize with the increase in prices of EVERYTHING. I just wrote out checks for over $3000 for fuel oil and propane and that wan't filling any of the tanks. I would hate to think of you having to sell your beautiful home (especially after you found the perfect paint colors LOL). As for jobs...I know there was a program here where family member who provided care to someone who qualified for the program could be paid (rather than paying an outside health care worker or aid). While I don't necessarily think spending more time dealing with Carole is healthy for you, you do so much already that it may not even involve much more.... Just thinking out loud...don't throw anything. ~Robin~
Love this one -- so pretty. Things are going up here as well....taxes, electric, oil, you name it. I'm working part time, enjoy what I do (thank God), but never thought I would be working at my age. My friend is working 2 jobs to get rid of bills and afford her home. Getting older is not what we thought it would be.
Stay well, keep stitching, and try to enjoy life....
