Down time

turned into damn time.  I could not find a suitable linen color, nor could I decide on count.  The previous two projects were lower count, two threads, I wanted to go back to 36 or 40.  Nothing looked right.  The single thread looked very skimpy and I had a difficult time stitching on those counts.  Really difficult.  Maud's original, like other primitive marking samplers, has pronounced thick stitches on a coarse fabric and it suits this design.  I went from 36 Ale to 30 Rook to 40 Legacy to 32 Copper Penny, some letters looked cramped while others loose.  Ended with 32 count that I dyed, two threads, but it didn't look right.  It is actually 36!  Dammit.  After a frustrating day, I realized something else was not sitting well.  Thread colors.  730 and 832 did not play nice with the others.  Changed 730 to 829 and 832 to 783, perfect.  Finally ready for needle to fabric.  A is two threads B is one.  Tomorrow.  I've had enough for today.

I only use my cell phone as a convenience when away from home, and for texting.  We have digital landline service through our cable and I do not like talking on a flat cell.  Tracfone is my carrier with 90 day service cards for $21.  I have purchased 1000 texts for $5 (plus taxes) from Walmart online.  This tech dinosaur found out there is a simple method to transfer landline calls to a cell when leaving the house.  Dial *72, wait for the beeps and dial tone, enter the full phone number you want the calls to go to, hit # or wait for confirmation.  Hang up!  Have someone call your landline to check, it should ring once and then start ringing on your cell.  To stop this service, hit *73 on your landline and wait for the beeps, hang up.  Try it a second time and it should say that the transfer was cancelled.  Cool beans!!  I don't have to worry about missed calls now.  Most of you know this or no longer have a landline.  I'm old school!

Hope tomorrow, a very cold day here, is a good one for all.

Hi Marly: It seems you have a knack for dying fabric, nope not me I have failed all the times I tried.
I am looking forward to seeing this design stitched.
I did not know I could forward the calls, thank-you for that information.
It is below zero-12 and a wind chill of 25 degrees below zero, no kidding, here in Minnesota it is a very cold day.
We have a land line, it helps 911 come faster instead of having to track your cell to a tower and then a spot that you are at, time is very important when having an emergency.

I like the looks of B rather than A (but I usually prefer one strand of floss). I don't worry about missed calls (am actually happy to miss them!!). We do have a land line (old fashioned, I know).

I did not know about the forwarding. I seem to recall DH figured out how to check the answering machine while we're gone though.

I'm glad you figured out the linen and threads that make you happy.

Lovely looking fabric! I like your 'B' versus the 'A'. We have to keep the landline because it is required for the captioned phone. Happy Friday!

On this piece, I like B better than A. I have both a landline and a cell phone. I use my cell phone almost exclusively, but our children still mostly call us on the landline. I don't consider myself very tech savvy, but I do enjoy all the cell phone perks.

Maud is a very pretty chart and I like B more than A,but I often stitch with 1 thread.
This about the landline is your background information??
I didn't know this too,but last week they had to do some work on the line and told us in a mail what to do for change landline to cell phone. I didn't do so,because when I am out, they can call me again when I am home...lol.
Take care and enjoy your stitching, Truus from Holland

I have a landline through my cell phone company since I don't get cell service here in Nod (one of the reasons it is called Nod...I can get texts, but not calls or vm's) and needed to be able to be contacted when my mum was alive. But now I received notice that I have to change my land line system as mine is no long compatible with the new technology that is going (has gone?) into effect. I'm not a phone person so I don't care much at this point. After years of being tied to a phone, the less I have to use it , the better. My luck, I'd forward calls to my cell, forget to cancel the forwarding and never get calls again b/c of the service issue... Hey....that might not be so bad?? 🤔 ~Robin~
