Continuing with the flower thread, the look is heavy with full coverage, and I like it for this project. A small area on this 36 count was stitched with one strand dmc and the difference was dramatic. Not for all samplers of course, but I was imagining this and also Maud with a heavier thread.
I am leaning toward 32 count with two dmc threads for some projects. Excellent coverage which (to me) gives a stronger appearance in color and definition. Flower thread only requires one strand.
As for my neck problem, that is not recent or related to the minor surgery. I have two vertebra in my neck that are pushed forward into the spinal canal and have been for many years. When diagnosed I had to wear a brace when in the car, but a physician seen later said it was not necessary. Hard to get that fear out of your head once heard! I would love to take road trips but the first doc's reaction to my tests and warnings about quadriplegia have stayed with me. But hey, cars have many more air bags these days!
Have a good one!

I like the look the flower thread is giving your project, Marly.
You are just too productive!!!
Ooh la la, Marly! I love everything about that! You’ve convinced me that I need the book! I hope things settle down for you a bit and that Carole can adapt to her new situation. I’m sure she appreciates having her family there with her. Too bad the transition didn’t go smoother as far as care. Take care of yourself! Cherie in WI
You aced it with the flower thread, Marly. Great look. Hope this
week is going a bit smoother for you and that the easing of things at
Carole's ease your days, as well.
I guess it's good that neck thing isn't a new thing for you to deal with? As you say though - still scary and how to not keep that first doctor's warning in mind.
I'm liking the flower thread on this sampler. Isn't it also no shine compared to DMC?
The flower thread looks great, Marly. Such wonderful coverage on 36 ct. One reason I rarely stitch on 36 ct. is I'm not happy with the coverage, but this thread looks like a perfect solution.
I just returned from working on the flooded Florida house and caught up with all of your past posts from the week. My head started spinning as I read about all the folks and pup living at Carole's home. I can't imagine! I, for one, need quiet and order so this would drive me batty. I'm glad you are almost done with your projects and can, hopefully, turn more responsibilities over to Carole and her family.
Your neck issue sounds unnerving... I can imagine how that is always in the back of your head as you travel in a car. When my husband broke his neck in 2015, we were told the same thing. I doubt that he worries about it these days, but... Take care now! ♥
Love the look of the flower thread....don't use it very often. Had my spinal injections this morning....sore, legs up - no driving. Had to cancel a few things for today and tomorrow - taking it one day at a time.
Praying for you and Carole....hugs send email to sharlene_oconnor@yahoo.com
I do like the look...I might have to try that thread sometime. Yeah, another rabbit hole probably. And, duh - sorry I confused the neck issue with the surgery. I can relate to those type of warning scares.... Among all the other bizarre things going on in my body, I have little spinal fluid around my spine and was strongly cautioned about falls and ladders. Oh yeah, getting old crap is gonna be so much fun. 😳😬 ~Robin~
Your stitching with this thread looks like the old samplers and I love it!
When you heard this warning about your neck, I can understand your worries every time you are on the road. Cann't you have a new surgery or scan to see how dangerous this is for now?
Take care and lots of love, Truus from Holland
Neck issues are scary (I had a herniated disc some years ago). I used flower thread recently and did not like it. I found some in amongst my various threads - it has to be 40 years old! That may be why I didn't like it. Seemed fuzzy and it kinked and knotted quite a bit. but, some of the DMC I'm using recently isn't up to par either - single threads are beginning to unravel. Weird!
