As my sinus continues to pound, I thought the head banging task of choosing a linen color would be a good idea. These larger samplers were kitted and I expected not to change anything. I was wrong. As I looked through them, contemplating a start to rotate with the smalls, my selections needed a second look. Trying to work more than one project at a time didn't last long and I need to try again. The floss tube channel, Recovering Monogamous Stitcher, caught my eye since I am monogamous and what a great stitcher. Her projects are gorgeous, mostly samplers, her personality and voice is as pleasant as can be. I still have a problem understanding how 56 count is stitchable!
I have a piece of Oatmeal linen that I will sell soon, too greenish for me, and Ween Beans was also in the folder to sell. Hmmm. It's dark, strong, but when I put the floss colors on it, ooooh baby. I can't picture this beautiful sampler on such a dark ground and wonder if it would be too much contrast and detract from the design. Bright colors on colorful dark (not a neutral dark) are not my preference for beautiful floral borders. Soft and elegant is nicer but I need your thoughts please!!
This is quite a bit stronger in color/depth than the chart's cover photo. The colors really pop on this, but I am concerned maybe too much, and a marking style sampler would be a better choice for the Ween.
We spoke with Carole last night about returning to the facility, even for a month to regain herself and get more therapy for independence, it is out of the question even after admitting she made a mistake by leaving. So we will continue with the next project to make her bedroom more accommodating. Mark wants to pay for this also, I said no. What would Stella do? LOL!!
Dentist today for more consults on how I can be fixed without mortgaging our house. Most options are not feasible because of not having saliva.
Have a good days folks! Stay safe.

You have your hands full with Carole. I can understand her refusal to return to a SNF...but maybe she will realize it is what is best for her quality of life. I pray I will never be in that situation.
Good luck at the dentist today.
Your stitching will be lovely as always!!!
You are in my prayers. Your handling of her situation is amazing. I like the threads on the fabric but I do know it may look different on my tablet than what it looks like in real life.
That sure is pretty fabric, but I have a very hard time stitching on darker fabrics. I have some pretty ones in my stash that I have not gotten rid of yet, but I doubt I will ever use them. Maybe I should give a small piece a try using magnification AND a light!
I love the fabric but understand your concern about the darkness. Go with your instinct, you always seem to make the best choices! Hope you have a healthy, peaceful and uneventful week full of sunshine and warm weather!
Oooo, that linen is a yummy of a different sort. I really like it - and the tones read right to me for the piece as far as lining up with the pattern photo, but I think it is missing that area of light in the center and without that might be too dark? Then again, I am certain you would more than compensate with some ingenious color changes. I'm at a loss about Carole. I don't envy your predicament at all. Eeek...dentist. I have an appointment next week and I KNOW where it is heading...and I am already cringing. I've never had a root canal that has gone well or smoothly. Good luck with your appt! ~Robin~
I think I know you after this many years, and you DO have your sister's best interests at heart. And YOU are correct in that YOU TWO should NOT be paying for her bedroom updates.
Don't know where you get your fortitude..I can understand Carole's hesitation
in returning to the facility...too permanent...but for the sake of her welfare and quality of life (yours and Mark's, as well) it makes the most sense...Wish there were a simpler and more acceptable solution for her.You have gone above and beyond.... Blessings
The color of the linen is beautiful and perhaps you could try some of the colors with a few stitches on that linen.
It's always different in color a few stitches or a whole skein on linen. I think it would be lovely to make this sampler on that linen.
Hope all went well with the dentist and you have found a way in it.
It's okay that you don't pay all Carole is needed to make these changes. You have enough costs yourself for your health.
Take care and think of your own health, Truus from Holland
I like the floss on that fabric. I wonder if the chart photo is of the original sampler and the linen has stained and darkened over the years?
I'm still working up the courage to stitch on 40 count. I can't imagine counted work on anything much higher than that. At least not without a way better light and magnification setup than I have.
Carole admitting coming home, before all (including herself) was ready, was a mistake is a big change on her part. I agree with you on not paying to fix up her bedroom other than what you've already done. Which with all the other house changes, is a lot. Not just the money, but time and energy too.
We've all heard that old saying about putting on your own oxygen mask first. Another version that might be more appropriate for your situation is "don't light yourself on fire to keep someone else warm".
I hope your recovery from covid continues and you feel better soon. And that the dentist had some ideas.
Pretty fabric, but I think you should go with your gut on it. Interesting that Carole has admitted she made a mistake about returning home too soon. I don't think you should continue to pay for the updates needed for her bedroom. Thinking of you, Marly.
