Cosmo

Not Kramer, the thread.

Hiya.  My order came today that included a few skeins of Cosmo.  ????  New to me, mentioned on a floss tube, thought I would try it.  If I remember correctly, DMC 310 was causing some stitchers problems because it frayed easily, and this was mentioned as an alternative.  Anyone familiar with this thread?

My Ale linen in 32 count is wonderful, very pleased with its color, and doesn't look all that different from 36 count.  It about flipped me but I ordered overdyed skeins for the new Nash chart I am waiting for.  SO anxious to receive.  Anyone else waiting for market shipments?  I just ordered a few of the colors, I know they are great in projects, but 2.40 for less thread than a 60 cent DMC skein riled the Stella in me.  Weeks is so much nicer than GAST if ordered online.  Very disappointed in its strong variance, not only within a skein but between multiples of the same.  Much safer ordering Weeks.

We've been working at Carole's and finally hit on a plan that works well.  Tomorrow the bookcase will be deluvered and if not damaged, will be assembled and in place.  The appointments are done for week, only to have more scheduled.  And tests.

I hope to stay awake and choose a fabric for ..... Tindale?  My mind is just bogged down again, restless.  Charts, linen, tbreads, all over the damn house!  Takes as long to organize and rid than to stitch, but even longer to locate supplies that are scattered.

Hope our weekend will be calm.  Yours too!

Be safe.

Hi Marly, I agree with you on the GAST threads. There is so much variance from skein to skein that it’s really hard to find a match should you run out of thread! I’m curious which Nash pattern you ordered? I ordered about 4 of hers. I loved them all!
I hope it all works out for Carole. You’ve gone above and beyond to help her out and make things easier for her.
Spring is only a few days away! Have a good weekend......Cherie in WI

Have only used a few skeins of Cosmo thread and I thought they were nice to work with. Now that being said, I haven't used the Cosmo black so I can't vouch for that. Did you see that DMC is raising their price again? Happy St. Patrick's Day and have a good weekend, Marly!

I really like using Cosmo thread. I bought a big lot of it off of ebay and have bought more from Red Rock Threads and the Fat Quarter Shop. Cosmo Black is number 600, 601 is Jet Black and 603 is Blackberry which is just a little softer of a black.

Have worked with the Weeks Dye threads, but never heard of Cosmo threads.
Hope all is going as planned with Carole and she will be happy with the result.
Take care and wishing you have time to do some stitching too,Truus from Holland

I've never heard of Cosmo - hope you let us know how it is. I agree about GAST and Weeks. There is a ton of variation in GAST (even in the same skein) which does not always look nice. Recently the DMC I'm using on Ellen Harrison is fraying terribly. Could it be because the thread is so old? I don't remember it doing this before. A bit frustrating...

I'm not familiar with Cosmo at all, Marly. Will be curious to see how you like it. The Ale fabric looks gorgeous, but I really have trouble stitching with two threads on 32 ct. I have turned into a one-thread woman :)

Best of luck at Carole's this weekend--sure hope things are falling into place finally! ♥
