The flock of about fifty is starting to disband and create harems for the strutting males. We had four trying to gather their females for this years mating season.
For such a drab looking bird, when the sun shines and shows their feathers' iridescence, they become a rainbow. Doesn't help their heads though.
Maud Fuzzard had a new start, new colors, we'll see how long that lasts before I throw in the towel. Working from a pdf on a tablet is great for clarity/enlarging chart symbols, but scrolling back and forth to see the legend is a PITA. I much prefer paper, but Staples machines will only print the type, not the copyrighted chart. I have quite a few to print, one is fifteen pages.
Seventy mph winds are expected tomorrow, worse than the previous Saturday. As much as I refrain from using credit cards, today will be the exception for a portable generator. Then we'll work at Carole's and install shelves in the broom closet and the new display unit in her room.
Have a sweet day.

The shelf you posted yesterday is nice. I hope it is truly the last thing for Carole. It's far too easy to get pulled into "just one more little thing".
Those turkeys are gorgeous, and I agree about their heads being ugly. I guess it's better for the ladies to see the blue color when they are doing their display?
I'm hoping all the storm warnings we have had for the last 2-3 days for this afternoon turn out to be much ado about not much. Hopefully your generator comes quickly.
Oh, those sly male turkeys….. I wonder what they look for in females to add to their harems. With their heads, I guess they should be happy with just a few, but I suppose the females are just as odd-looking. However, their feathers in the sunlight are very pretty!
We did have a turkey here who stood in the middle of a very busy intersection EVERY day, usually during rush hour, and between two elementary schools. It’s as if he/she knew the exact time to muck up traffic. The town finally had to relocate it. It was a crazy, but cute little thing!
Wonderful photos of the turkeys!! With the hoards of them I have here, I rarely get to see the males strutting their stuff for some reason. I'm battening down here too for another winter storm - 7-10" of heavy, wet, snow is forecast and with high winds. It's going to be another heck of a mess. Stay safe. Good luck with the generator. ~Robin~
Safety for all in the predicted storms.... May your generator save the day. Hope you are nearing your finish of projects for Carole... you guys need time for yourselves...any projects in mind? A stitching weekend?
Great pictures! I have never seen a male turkey in all its glory, just a few females.
More winds tomorrow? I hate it!!!
With sunshine everything looks more lovely even the sparrows.
Hope everything goes well today and the storm isn't that heavy as predicted.
Take care and stay save and have a peaceful stitching weekend,Truus from Holland
Hope it doesn't get as windy as they are forecasting, Marly. Enjoyed seeing your turkey pictures!
Every, single, time it is super windy, I end up saying DOROTHY! DOROTHY! AUNTIE EM! AUNTIE EM!
I think I have watched that movie too much since I was a little girl. ;)
I do hope you fare well in the high winds my friend.
The turkeys are neat.
Hello Marly: I love watching the turkeys chase the females, the females are so fickle about males they want to mate with.
IO hope all works out with the shelf, buying a generator is a great idea, we have two one for the freezers and one for the kitchen fridge and coffee machines.
Catherine
Madly - can you print out the legend only and have that by the tablet? Than you can keep the pattern zoomed in and then just glance over at the legend when you need to change colors?
Sorry, Marly. Auto-correct strikes again. Kelly
