Can't let go

 Of what?

My removable center tube pans for mom's chiffon cake recipes and poppy seed!  I received mom's and Aunt Nancy's so I own three and just can't part with them.  Very heavy and well loved!  But how many chiffon cakes can I bake at the same time for a family of five?  One!

I made two ring pendants/keeps/tags.  What the heck is the correct term?  Easy to make, hard to snap a pic without glare.

Waiting for the poppy seed cake to cool, and I need to add the white vinegar to my towel rinse cycle.  Softens by removing soap buildup.

Have a great day!

I think an angel-food cake pan was one of the first baking tins I ever bought. When was the last time I baked a angel-food cake?? Hmmmm, that would take more math than I am prepared to do today. Mine, however, is NOT a nice heavy one. I adore your little fobs...especially the one on the right!! Me thinks you need to give us a tutorial please if they are, indeed, easy. ~Robin~

The keepsakes are exquisite! Well done! My son always complains that my towels smell “stale” and he gave me the vinegar suggestion. Which I will use. When he visits. Otherwise we handle stale 🙄

Marly: I love my ancient cake pan, heavy and worth using for making egg drenched raisin bread for breakfast, we used to take it on the boat for breakfast before we sold the pontoon (I miss that boat) I use baking powder to whiten and refresh my towels, I will have to try the vinegar, thank-you for the tip.

Marly, I have my mom's tube pan, cherish it. She used to make the best Southern Pound Cake and I think I will make one this week. Thanks for the jump start. Love the fobs, amazing all the eye problems you have had to deal with and you still keep going! Sampler lovely. How's that Missy girl? Jen

I too have several tins and tube pan of my mum and I have to keep it with all the sweet memories.
Your fobs are very pretty as your boxes which you made in the past are too.
Take care, Truus from Holland

Yes please for a tutorial!! I wonder where my tube pan went. I miss it and liked it better than a bundt pan (which is a PITA to grease and flour). Poppyseed cake sounds wonderful!

I cherish my pan...I am still devouring the cranberry/orange cake made last week .... easy and delectable. Making cinnamon/marble this week...a new recipe... These two after years of rarely baking... the bug re-bit,I guess... Love the fobs and your cake pan memories.

I would also like to join your "fobs chorus!" Those are just too cute and I would love to make them for little gifts for my stitching group. Ahhhh, the tube pan. I bought one when we first married, a very flimsy thing, tossed that, and bought a better one. I still use it now and then. My aunt, who was a professional baker, liked to make an angel food cake, split the layers, and then fill them with some kind of pudding or whipped cream and berries. So good on a hot day. I think I will make one for the holiday. My FIL was a poppy seed cake lover, his mother made them often, apparently a favorite in Polish homes. I have a recipe for one with a bit of lemon in it, that was his favorite. I need to find that recipe. Have a good week, hope your eyes are feeling a bit better.

I like the removable center tube pans. I don't own one. I think my mom may have had one at one time, but all I can find is an aluminum pan that my grandmother had. I use it to make sour cream coffee cake. I can't let it go either as it brings back memories.

I have my grandmother's tube pan and I won't part with it, too many fond memories. She made the loveliest orange chiffon cake with it. My favorite is always angel food cake with *lots* - and I mean lots! - of fresh local strawberries!
I like the fobs. The patterns look very appealing in the circles.

And now you've got me wanting cake! Those old pans were so much better made than the new ones--I do understand you not wanting to give any of them up, Marly! And your little fobs are darling--can't wait to read your tutorial :)
