Hi folks. I made a decision, especially after the latest price increase on new linens, to use what I have. I don't need any more, if I need something different, I'll dye it. A solid cream color or off white to mottle/stain is another option, much cheaper. I placed a small order this morning for a tiny piece of 46 and an eighth of my favorite PTP Sand.
But the designs were irresistible! I wanted Chessie and Me Quaker Huswife chart but searched without result for another photo. I see the button in the center and the ties but honestly, can't picture it rolled/folded/????? So I passed on it. But The Artsy Housewife offers on 123Stitch (she has an Etsy shop also), in the cart! My plan is to stitch the framed sections for either front and back of a larger needlebook, or two sweet pouches to hang with velvet backing and corded tassels.
She used three different linens sewn together to create the block, really unique. I'll find something to create with Grace's side border, love it. Until I get the chart to see the size of that section, I won't know what count will be used.
I saw a small red sampler somewhere that I liked, but the online shops do not carry all designers. No more large samplers for me. I have several to work on, not sure I have the ambition. My future purchases will probably be small samplers/designs (unless a hot flash flips me back). Instagram photo from Needlework Press at the shop called Stitcher's Paradise showed carrots that I fell in love with. Searched and searched, no result for the chart. That shop name has an older website, changed to another shop name, but it's not, very confusing.
I have many pieces that need framed and after a visit to my framing shop, yoi. Carole's extra heavy and large dresser mirror was removed and will hang horizontally in the dining room. We are having the framer install the channel bar on the back, we will attach the other to her wall, for a very secure and flat hang. While there, I saw several finishes on the counter with invoices awaiting pickup and holy hotcakes. I will check Hobby Lobby prices.
Started my third steroid pack yesterday and it's better. Need to be careful but I can walk! So one stair step at a time and I am confident that's doable.
Have a good days folks.
Be safe.

I'm so glad to read you are having some good results from the steroid packs, Marly! That is great news! Just take things slowly and don't overdo it (I've sure said those words to my husband a lot since his shoulder replacement surgery and his tennis elbow!).
I wasn't familiar with The Artsy Housewife, but I love those two designs you're getting! Like everything else, I guess the cost of framing just keeps climbing. I think I'm going to order a few frames online this weekend and just do some myself. Hope it doesn't take me my usual decade! Enjoy your weekend ♥
Oooo, I am loving the tapestry feel of those Artsy Housewife designs - and your ideas for them. Ah, yeah...finishing. I keep saying that after my current project, I am going to start some serious finishing. But, I always find a reason to just start something else. Gah! And, yes, framing. We used to have a good local framer who knew my "style" and was good with needlework framing...but she her business was another COVID tragedy. Now our only options are basically Michaels and Hobby Lovvy. The framed mirror sounds cool. Photo please when it's in place! ~Robin~
Good to hear that you have results from your medication Marly!
Take care and don't do too much by now.
Your ordered Housewife is very pretty and I have also a chart for a Housewife that has to be rolled up.
Fingers crossed...I will not order any chart any more because I have to become 200 years or so to stitch all the charts I have stored.
It's very Hot here in the Netherlands--30`Celsius so good time for stitching and don't do anything else.
Take care and have a good weekend, Truus from Holland
After seeing how much it cost to frame, I've been stashing frames. Next will be learning to cut them down if needed. Of course that will involve investment in tools and supplies too. Then I start thinking and balancing cost/time involved - How much do I really think I'll get stitched? How much would be framed vs other finishing methods? Would buying my own tools and such end up being the needlework equivelent of a $500 home-grown tomato? Ugh!
Those are nice patterns, I don't think I've seen using different linens on one project before.
Glad the steroids are finally kicking in and doing their work!
